This fully furnished house is a 3-minute walk from El Portillo beach, and a 5-minute drive (4 kilometers) from the town of Las Terrenas. The beach is clean, with white sand, a gentle surf, and coral reefs for snorkeling. The house is surrounded by a lush garden with a water lilly/koi pond, orchids, and several varieties of hibiscus -- a prime spot for bird-watching from the wrap-around veranda.
The kitchen is fully supplied with cooking utensils, including an outdoor grill by the deck. We have bed linen and towels, but you should bring your own snorkels (or get them in town). There is hot water and one bedroom has air conditioning, although the construction of the house is quite cool and there are six ceiling fans.
*The house has three bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 8 people in 4 full/queen-sized beds.
*There are three additional single beds (two in the living room and one in the back bedroom). There is a charge of $25 for each additional person after 7.
*Hammocks for the balcony are included.
*We have a small library of books in English. You're free to use them, but please return them!
*The house is in a community with 24-hour security. If you need housekeeping or laundry service, let us know and we can arrange for that for an extra fee.
*Las Terrenas has a large European ex-pat population. You can find French bread and Italian sausage, as well as fresh local food and fresh fish along the beach.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
This is a great place for a family vacation, but if you have young children please make sure that they are respectful of the garden, the hammocks and the art in the house.
Please stick to the number of guests you tell us about. No extra overnight guests.
This place is a gem a short walk to the most fantastic uncrowded beach. Olga and Elliot took wonderful care of us and even arranged for a car to pick us up and take us to the airport and for Nora to come and cook and make juices for us. She was fantastic. I held a yoga retreat here and every one absolutely loved it!
This house has everything you need and is located close to a busy beach town. There's plenty of room and beds in the house, so if you're looking for a lot of room in a safe house, with lots of things to do nearby, this is your place. The hosts are very responsive and accommodating.
A perfect place for our family to gather. Clean and comfortable. Charming place, interesting artwork. Marvelous swimming. We especially enjoyed the visits of Princessa, the dog, the numerous hummingbirds and the lizard-eatings cuckoos were awe-inspiring.
Tout était parfait , chouette maison pleine de charme, vivante, bien situé , près de la plage de Portillo , juste la proximité de la route mais finalement pas dérangent , ...à recommander ... Nous on a adorés , merci olga et Elliot
Really great place. Location is perfect and the beach is the best in the area. The house is truly a gem. Very charming and perfect for a family. We can highly recommend the place.
Olga and Eliot are gracious and well-prepared hosts. Prior to our arrival they made sure we knew everything we would need and were prepared to have a wonderful time, they sent us a helpful manual about the house and communicated with us several times to ensure we had no questions and were ready to have fun. The house is beautiful and exactly as advertised. It is a 3 minute walk to the beach, and the beach is stunning and secluded, away from the popular tourist beaches. There are many cute restaurants, beach-side cafes and shops a 5 minute drive away.
During our visit we had a medical emergency and Olga and Eliot came to our rescue, contacting their local doctor and helping us get good healthcare. They were with us by phone every step of the way and that was hugely helpful.
We had a wonderful time at this house and in the town of Samana and highly recommend it.
This experience was simply top notch and gives Airbnb a great name. The home itself was perfectly situated, described, decorated, and comfortable. We were hoping for a quiet, stress free honeymoon and the hosts made that happen. Not speaking Spanish could have made our destination difficult, but their assistance with maps, restaurants, local guides, housekeeping, and phone checkins made all the difference. If you are looking to explore a quieter side of the DR, Las Terrenas is marvelous. The beaches were unparalleled, the fresh seafood was perfect, and the people were marvelous. We will recommend this house specifically to friends and perhaps return ourselves. Thank you for everything!
We have had a home in Samana for over 20 years and know the area well. Please let us know if you have any questions about the area. We're part of the community, and that's important to us.
