* ABOUT THE HOUSE *
We live in a 4 story townhouse with a big communal garden. The house was originally built in the 1930s, but has been completely renovated 5 years ago.
We are big lovers of vintage design, so expect to find a lot of 70s style items in the studio. Our house was featured in several Dutch interior lifestyle magazine, including 101 Woonideeën.
* ABOUT THE GARDEN STUDIO *
From the Studio you have direct access to the garden. We have a big communal garden with a fire pit (and plenty of room to play if you bring kids :-)). We also have a private part in which we have a small wooden play house and a basic BBQ.
In summer, the garden is great to relax - we even get some sun in the evening!
When you stay over, our family lives on the top 3 floors; the first floor is for guests only.
We do share our front door with you, but if you prefer, you can use the back door.
* ABOUT OUR NEIGHBOORHOOD *
We live in a quiet street in lively multi-cultural, non-touristic neighborhood, close to the city centre.
There's lots of small shops and convenience stores + a 24/7 shop within walking distance.
We have a great organic restaurant nearby as well as take away restaurants from all corners of the world; a book with flyers is provided, as is a link to a (website hidden) Map with highlights and practical information.
The famous Van Nelle Fabriek is a 5 minute walk.
The beautiful historical Delfshaven area is a 10 minute walk.
The Rotterdam Zoo Blijdorp is at a 20 minute walk.
The fantastic outdoor playground 'De Speeldernis' is at a 15 minute walk.
Also in the neighbourhood:
- a cute petting zoo with cows, sheep, chickens, rabbits & goats
- a public swimming pool
the Roel Langerak Park (with an athletics track and a discgolf court) for jogging, playing or BBQing.
Our neighbourhood is multi-cultural and non-touristic. In the daytime, there’s a lot of kids playing in the street and the closeby football court. In the night time, it’s quiet. In our street there’s primarily family homes, several playgrounds and football courts (a big field and a smaller one). The nearest cafe is within a 5 minute walk.
*ABOUT ROTTERDAM *
Rotterdam is a beautiful city with modern architecture on every other corner. It has great museums, galleries, restaurants and shops; both the big brands as a lot of indie shops.
Our personal favorites are Hotel New York (great view & fantastic atmosphere), the Blijdorp Zoo, the Swan Market (a big vintage/craft market) - and many others.
Rotterdam is also well known for its great events, like:
January: International Film Festival Rotterdam
February: ART Fair, ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament
April: Hotel Mozaïque, Rotterdam Marathon
May: Circusstad Festival, Roparun, Operadagen
June: Poetry International, CHIO Rotterdam, Parade, Keti Koti Festival
July: North Sea Jazz festival, Summer Carnaval, Metropolis Festival
August: Duizel in het Park Festival, Pleinbioscoop, City Racing Rotterdam
September: World Harbour Days

* PLEASE NOTE *
We are a family with two children (4YO & 7YO). Our girls are quiet but young - some singing on the stairs before and after school may occur :-)
Smoking and pets are not allowed in the house (but you can smoke in the garden or in front of the house, where there's a wooden bench to sit on).
Checking in: from 4.15 pm (you can drop of your luggage beforehand if you like)
Checking out: at the latest at 11 am.
Our place is great for everyone - and it's especially great for parents travelling with wee ones. While your kids discover all toys (LEGO, Playmobil, board games, puzzles, etc) and books (or DVDs) you can take a relaxing shower or a little nap in the adjacent room.
Wanna go out at night? For a romantic meal or to discover the Rotterdam night live? We'll babysit for you if you like. The centre of Rotterdam is closeby - when your kids start crying, we can call you and you'll be home in no time.
We would love to meet you and welcome you in our lovely home!
Zeer aangenaam verblijf. Leuke tips voor uitstapjes.
Nice and homely studio with a lot of character. Located in a very cool area and pretty well connected. We really liked our stay, and Diana very kindly gave us plenty of great suggestions for places to visit (big props for the coffee shops recommendation).
We had two wonderful days in Rotterdam, and luckily stayed at Diana’s Studio: It was exactly what we expected from the very detailed description. A bright, colorful room full of interesting things, with a nice view of the garden. Warm and homelike. Diana’s husband explained us everything we needed to know; he also was so kind to help us with the car parking formalities (they have a visitor’s pass which allows cheap parking right in front of the house). The studio has everything you need, including a fully equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bed – even for tall people (I’m 1,93 m). It doesn’t at all feel like a couch bed (though Diana says it is one). We had nice conversations with Diana and her husband and really felt at home at their studio. Highly recommended; we surely come back again!
Fijne plek is het daar bij Diana in Spangen.Het was heerlijk rustig en van alle luxe voorzien.
Wij komen graag weer terug.
Friendly hosts, nice and cozy room and good facilities. We felt that everything had just a small but noticeable friendly touch to it, ensuring that our stay was very comfortable. Easy to find and well connected to Rotterdam public transport.
The studio was nice and cosy. We had an excellent time over new year. Diana and Janjaap were very nice hosts. We enjoyed a treat of Ollie Bollen from our hosts, which was enjoyable.
Our hosts were present when we needed help and advice. We also enjoyed the privacy and independence the studio gave us. It was very nice to have our own shower, toilets and kitchen. The studio allows you to access the common garden directly and allows you to take some fresh air.
Overall, very nice holiday experience in a very colorful studio over the 4 days we were in Rotterdam. The metro station is maybe 500meters away and takes you directly to Rotterdam centraal.
We highly recommend Diana and her family for your visit to Rotterdam.

What a wonderful place to stay! Diana and her family were lovely hosts, who even brought us candies from Sinterklaas to include us in the holiday. Highly recommended!!
Diana and Janjaap are wonderful and accommodating hosts. Their place is welcoming and lovely, just as it appears in the pictures and is located in a very cool and eclectic neighbourhood in Rotterdam. It was a great place to use as a "home base" while I explored the city.
Diana is a fantastic host.Her and her family were warm and welcoming and we had plenty of privacy in her comfortable studio. We found Bed & Birds to be the perfect base for exploration with lots of takeaways and shops within walking distance.The city centre was easy to get to by either Metro or tram and there are stops close by. Diana is very knowledgeable about the city and has lots of recommendations on shops, restaurants, bakeries and places to go; following her advice is like having a cool, insider guide to Rotterdam. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would highly recommend Bed & Birds for anyone looking for a place to stay, especially families with young children!
We had a great time to this house. So tidy and clean with a refreshing air. The most important was the play room, our son enjoyed it very much and for us that was relaxing. Highly recommended. Moreover the family of Diana and Jan was friendly, kind and helpful.
