About this listing
This newly remodeled, tastefully designed one bedroom apartment is located in the safe, residential and family-friendly neighborhood of Bernal Heights, one block from Precita Park.
Main living room has a flat-screen 40" LCD television streaming programs from the internet.
This is a completely separate downstairs unit and our family lives in the home upstairs. Please understand that with two young children, we cannot guarantee quiet, particularly in the early morning. If you are an early riser, are yourself traveling with young children or are not bothered by noises above, you are an ideal guest.
This newly remodeled, tastefully designed one bedroom apartment is located in the safe, residential and family-friendly neighborhood of Bernal Heights, one block from Precita Park. The unit has it's own private entrance, bamboo floors, a living room, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and wi-fi internet access.
The bedroom features a comfortable bed with a queen-sized Euro-top mattress, a delightful, Asian antique armoire, and charming Japanese shoji sliding doors that separate it from the living room. There is a full-sized sofa bed in the living room, so a couple with one friend or perhaps two younger children can stay in the apartment at the same time. The ceilings are just 6 and a half feet high, so if you are that height or taller, please take notice - you will need to watch your head.
The comfortable living room couch faces a wall-mounted 40-inch flat screen television with a Roku box which lets you stream movies and programs from the internet. The well-appointed, modern kitchen has granite counter tops, a counter top stove, microwave, convection oven, and refrigerator. There is also an in-unit washer and dryer. Stay in and make dinner, or head out to any of the excellent nearby restaurants in Bernal Heights or the Mission District.
The weather in this part of San Francisco is the sunniest in the city. With an excellent neighborhood cafe, coffee shops, a corner fruit and vegetable market, and several restaurants a short stroll away, this quiet, secluded apartment gives you a home-away-from-home experience. Precita Park provides a broad, open area with beautiful trees, grass, plenty of room to throw a frisbee or baseball, and a popular children's playground at one end. The apartment is also conveniently located, within easy walking distance of public transit including multiple bus lines, a 15-minute walk to BART, and easy freeway access. If you have a car, we have free, on-street parking in front of the unit's garage.

The apartment is very cozy and clean and the location is really great - close to highways, to the San Francisco Airport and adjacent to the Mission District. Suzy was very helpful to us throughout the trip.
Suzy's airbnb was the perfect place to stay in San Francisco. It is in a convenient location, close to restaurants, a grocery store, mass transit. Bernal Heights is a very casual, friendly neighborhood. The apartment is as it appears on the listing. It was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The bed and pullout couch were very comfortable. My daughter, husband and I easily settled in. Suzy was warm and outgoing. She was easy to contact when we had a question. It was so nice that she greeted us with a delicious plate of homemade cookies.
Suzy initiated contact to make sure I had all the information I needed and also checked in with me several times during the visit to see if I needed anything.
She made cookies for us which were waiting upon our arrival
The apartment: The apartment was great and matched its description. I'll address the 3 main things pointed out on the ad that my fellow travelers and I were most concerned about: The ceilings, tiny kids, and early mornings.
1. The low ceilings weren't a problem at all - we didn't really notice them outside of the novelty of being able to reach them. The tallest member of our party was 5' 10". 2. You will definitely hear the kids tiny footsteps above you. They're pretty active but it didn't bother me, however I can see how it could bother someone who isn't used to being around kids much. I feel like the noise is akin to if you were living in an apartment and the person above you had kids (which is essentially what you are doing). 3. They were up around 6:00 am (give or take) on the days we were there but we were able to sleep through the noise. If you're a light sleeper you might want to take that into consideration.
The rest of the apartment - the kitchen has everything you could need (stove top, microwave, toaster oven, fridge). It was great to be able to store/heat leftovers and to have the option to cook. It's also nice to have a washer/dryer available in case you need them. There were three of us, so the sliding door between the living room and bedroom provides the perfect amount of privacy.
Location: The neighborhood looks like it may be in the midst of a 'revival' - it's not a super nice area but it doesn't seem dangerous or anything. There's a great cafe (Precita Park Cafe?) within a couple minutes walk that has a great breakfast - they even have fresh juices and smoothies. They're open for lunch and dinner as well but we never stopped there for those. There's a corner store right there too if you needed to pick up a beverage. The apartment is a couple minutes drive of the Mission district where there are tons of great restaurants. About 15 minute drive from the airport and about a 15 minute drive from the Ferry Building which has a ton of great restaurants and a great farmers market on Saturday mornings.
Check in: Check in and out was super easy - Suzy was very accommodating of our early flight in and later flight out of town.
Host: Suzy was extremely sweet and helpful - she left a welcome note and plate of cookies for us on our day of arrival and stopped by later that evening to introduce herself and her family. She was always available by text or airbnb message to answer any questions I had and even make restaurant recommendations. When we couldn't find paper towels, she happily ran some down to us within a few moments and saved us a trip to the store! I can't imagine a sweeter hostess.
Suzy made us very welcomed even though she was not there when we arrived. She solved all our problems right away~ It was really a pleasure meeting her family. The place was exactly as shown in the listing. I liked the neighborhood a lot, it was quiet and public transportation was quite convenient. If I am in SF again, this will definitely be my first choice to stay.
