Michal's apartment is a nice place to get away to in Strbske Pleso. There are 3 single beds in a spacious bedroom along with a dresser (not pictured and beds were arranged differently), where you can easily walk around, and there is an adjoining balcony where you can stand/sit outside to admire the beautiful scenery. The kitchen is small but came in handy for us as we cook our meals. Michal was nice enough to leave a blender when I asked for one, but I didn't find it until the last day, as it was wrapped in a plastic bag and hidden under the cabinets. There were also assorted teas, spices, sugar, etc. He brought cheeses, chocolate yogurts, bread, orange juice, and this cheese spread, which was very welcoming after several hours of travel with my father and 9 year-old son. The living room area has a comfortable couch, and there are many channels (quite a few in English as well) to watch if you choose to stay inside or after a long day of hiking. The apt. is about 20 minutes away from the train station (if you have luggage it make take longer, and if you walk fast may be 15 minutes or so), not 10 minutes. However, it is a nice leisurely walk when you don't have to rush. While we enjoyed our time in the mountains, there are two things worth mentioning. First, make sure you get very good directions to the apartment from Michal via email *OR* have him meet you at the train station so he can take you there. I have never had problems finding an Airbnb apt., but no one - not even the tourist center - knew where this apt. was. After nearly 40 minutes of trying to get help/directions, and phoning Michael 3 times (his first number is out of service and with the 2nd number, someone picks up who does not speak English well), we finally got through and he met us to take us to the apt. Second, confirm in writing and in person the time you are to turn in the keys to Michal. We had agreed at 8 AM, but he never showed up, and we had to call Airbnb for help as there was no other place to leave the keys. They couldn't even contact him via the 3 telephone numbers they had. Had we not had a 2 trains to catch, I would have waited for him to eventually arrive. Needless to say, this annoyed me and left a terrible impression. His lack of dependability and professionalism - despite the nice apt. and beautiful area around it - is the main reason why I would not return here.
