  • We had the perfect stay at Julian's apartment. It's located in a safe, nice and convenient neighborhood and it's extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. Julian is super nice and made everything very convenient. We will definitely consider his place every time we are back to Guatemala City!!

  • Julian is an absolute gentleman and his apartment is a fabulous sanctuary in tough and rough Guatemala City. He really goes out of his way to make sure you are settled in, oriented, and are seeing the best the city has to offer.
Having your own bathroom makes sharing this house very easy, the apartment was very clean and ordered, and Julian's artist touch makes it delightful to spend time in. As a vegetarian, I needed to cook at home from time to time, so kitchen access was an utter bonus for me! Likewise, the supermarket 5-10 minutes walk away.
Also it was helpful being able to phone for taxis to come to the house to pick me up. The building itself is part of a residential gated community, so be prepared to take a lot of taxis to get in and out as there is no public transport (and even if there were, it would not be particularly advisable to use it!!) When our schedules coordinated, Julian was very kind to drive me to where I needed on several occasions, which was well belong the call of duty and shows the level of care he has for his guests!!
As a solo female traveller, getting home before dark was advisable, so I enjoyed coming back at dusk and working out in the rooftop gym.

  • I stayed in Julian's lovely apartment for 10 days. His 2-bedroom unit had a bathroom that the guest used exclusively, as well as a kitchen that he kept stocked with breakfast supplies. I could access pretty fast Internet from everywhere in the apartment (not just the living room). Also, the entire unit was meticulously cleaned twice weekly.

The building he is in is in a nice and quite safe neighborhood in Zona 15; didn't have any problems walking ~20 minutes to work in the mornings, though I did this commute with co-workers whenever I had my laptop with me. The apartment complex is across from a decent shopping center (supermarket, ATM, bakeries, clothing, etc.), which you reach by crossing Vista Hermosa (a rather large boulevard) via an overhead bridge. To get to the other zones in the city, it's necessary to get a taxi, which ranged for me from Q35-70 depending on where I was going.

Julian himself is friendly, considerate, respectful, and accommodating -- e.g. he was flexible about my arrival time and about the erratic times that I got back to the apartment (even though he has to buzz his guests into the building, getting in was never a problem); he checked in on me via email after a few days of not seeing me in person because of our schedules, and he invited me along when he was out with his friends one evening. Overall, a great way to experience Guatemala City, knowing you are staying in a safe area and enjoying great accommodations for a price much lower than a hotel.

  • Julian was a fabulous host - so considerate and accommodating. We arrived late at night (10pm) and he was waiting for us at the airport. As it was our first time in Guatemala it was wonderful to have someone to show us the ropes, and he gave us a ride to somewhere to grab a shuttle the next morning without batting an eyelid. His place is gorgeous, and so easy from the airport. Thank you, Julian, for a wonderful stay!

  • Julian was a gracious host. The apartment is impeccable and comfortable and has all mod cons. It's in a residential neighborhood with a supermarket and a few fast food joints a few blocks away. Getting anywhere else involves a cab ride, which are relatively cheap and can be called for. Overall a great experience.
