We arrived and were met by Emmanuel who was pleasant, he took us through the apartment, but made me sign a contract on behalf of my party, which I thought was a bit off (the contract mentioned fines of up to $200 for various things). He also took a picture of my passport – again not what I am used to when booking with airbnb and I think might be against what they usually practice. In the listing there is no mention of the contract. Another point to note with regards to the listing, we didn't receive the "Basic introductory groceries on arrival (tea, coffee, milk, bread, breakfast cereal) for your enjoyment".
Even though we arrived at 12pm, as requested, the place wasn't clean when we first arrived. The cleaners were on their way so we couldn't fully unpack and settle in straight away and had to dump our bags and head out as soon as we arrived. We were there as the cleaners arrived and so we asked them for new dish sponges as the ones there were fully used and old. On our return, they had removed them but didn't replace them. Not a huge deal, but makes it a bit tricky when you're only there for three days.
The kitchen and bedrooms were clean and nice. However, the fans in the bedroom were stacked and full of old dust (as the cleaners were there just after our arrival we were able to ask them to clean them, which they did well).
Things like a clean and not old, dirty bath matts, and new dishwashing sponges I think should be as standard for a place like this (which isn't cheap at £130 per night).
The bathroom is quite pokey and not quite as clean as I would've liked (it looked as though it hadn't had a proper deep clean for some time). The bath matt was well used and dirty. The bathroom sink was blocked for a day or so, but when we asked Robyn she mentioned there was a plumber attending one of the other properties, and she would send him round which she did that day.
The building itself wasn't awfully clean and a bit smelly walking through the halls and there was a fair bit of noise coming from across the hallway (bit of a lads apartment I think).
Location is extremely central.
There is a very nice Organic shop around the corner for all sorts!
Robyn (via email) was very quick to respond (i.e. things like the sink were fixed quickly)
The position is about as central as you can be to Bondi beach. This is a managed apartment so I had no contact with Robyn, only with the person who organised the key transfer and signing of insurance papers. The bathroom/laundry is pretty small but if you are looking for a central apartment that is tidy this is not a bad bet.
Great place! Noticed some reviews about the bathroom being dirty, but I didn't have the experience. Everything was nice and clean. The location is perfect – we went for a morning swim amongst the waves every morning. Great food and coffee all within walkable distance.
Everything you need – beach towels, regular towels, clean sheets, washer and dryer.
Do the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee. It's worth it.
A nice apartment to stay, but not for family bigger than 3! Very near to the beach & shops/restaurant.
Excellent, well appointed apartment in secure building next to Bondi Beach. Robyn was wonderful host and took great care in ensuring our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Easy access to public transportation. Provisions for breakfast plus tea, coffee were at hand as were tourist maps and related materials. Many thanks Robyn!
Robyn's apartment was fantastic. Really clean and modern and a very quiet, secure building. My daughter and I would would return again as it is a fantastic location really close to the beach, transport and amazing shops and restaurants. Thanks Robyn. Amanda & Allara.
I stayed at Robyn's place with my partner and son and we were excited about the location. It is a fantastic spot if you are after the beauty of Sydney's Bondi Beach. Robyn's son Jess lives in the apartment and he and his partner were very pleasant, courteous and were hardly around.
The living space and kitchen were perfect, plenty of room and everything you need. However, the bedroom was far too small for the 3 of us. It would be fine for 1 person, tight for 2 people but not suitable for more. This is not the fault of Robyn or Jess, probably more poor judgement on my behalf.
Unfortunately, the bathroom was small, noisy, poorly ventilated and not as clean as we had hoped.
Overall though, the location provided for a great experience and you certainly won't find nicer, more accommodating people than Jess and his girlfriend.
The listing appears like the host is Robyn and you communicate with her before your arrival. When we arrived we got a surprise and it was Jess. (I did notice after our leave that the host profile is clear regarding the living arrangements it is just not clear in the apartment desc.) Jess provided us with good information regarding the local area.
The listing does not state if there is parking or not but there is none real close to the apartment that is free, if you are willing to walk a little or pay you can find parking.
The restroom & shower, living-room sofa and kitchen counter were very dirty and there were some bugs.
Overall this place was not the greatest to stay at but it provided us with beds for our stay.
1. Good location.
2. Although Robyn is the host that you communicate with she isn't living in the apartment. This is in the description once but we missed it so it was a surprise to learn we'd be staying with her son.
3. The apartment was not clean. The bathroom particularly was pretty scary and it was extremely musty (but maybe that's just Sydney when it rains).
The location could not get any better! Right by the beach which is incredible, a 45 minute bus journey to Circular Quay where EVERYTHING is. Definitely moving there in a few years ;)
I visited with my 2 friends and we're all students at uni so this little apartment was absolutely fine for us. We were rarely there as we were so busy! When we arrived Jesse gave us loads of information about transport, places to go clubbing and what to do around Sydney. He was a really great host and gave us plenty of space. Hardly even saw him really! Was like having the apartment to ourselves haha.
The only thing that was bad was the bathroom was a bit of a mess but being students we were that bothered but I guess for other people it'd be a bit off putting.
Thank you Jesse for having us, was truly an amazing 3ish days xx
