SoMa's multifaceted character brings together all sorts of people. Tech-savvy entrepreneurs rub elbows with well-read bohemian types, and museum curators share the sidewalks with ill-groomed individuals. Hip bars, clubs, and specialty coffee cafes hide among SoMa’s increasing number of vacant industrial warehouses awaiting renovation. On game day, visitors to SoMa include those looking to hear the crack of the bat—this neighborhood is the home of the San Francisco Giants.

Maria greeted me right away, even though I arrived while she was cooking dinner. I needed a place to stay while in town on business, so unfortunately I didn't get much of a chance to socialize. Maria and Graham left me to my own schedule though and I felt quite comfortable coming and going. I didn't try out the amenities, as I had just about everything but a bed at the office, but everything looked very welcoming.
Maria was a fantastic host, so friendly and helpful! The house was very organized, with labels to help guests. The house was absolutely beautiful and spotless! The room was very comfortable and just as pictured. The neighborhood is great as well, many places to eat and shop and great transportation near by. Would for sure consider staying here again if i'm back in San Francisco.
I didn't actually meet the hosts. However, they have a very efficient setup and was a lovely home. They were prompt with communication. No issues. Thank you guys.
Excellent location. The surrounding area has a plethora of dining options and entertaining venues at night. In addition, the nearest BART is within a short walking distance.
The room is spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. In the kitchen and bathroom, Maria has meticulously labeled the items that are for use by guests and those that are not. This effort has made it simply for guests that are staying there.
I would stay there again next time I am in SF.
I really have mixed feelings about my stay at Maria's place. On the one hand, the room was just as pictured – beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable, and a very good price for SF. There is only one bathroom between five bedrooms, which can cause problems at busy times, but otherwise the house is very nice indeed!
However, on the other hand, the whole process felt much more transactional than I've come to expect of airbnb. Perhaps it is because so many people use the service in the bay area and the turnaround is high, but all communication with the host was either canned or a little slow/very terse. Checkin was via the distribution of door codes and hidden in the (very long) first canned message I got from the host (was simply told to re-read this when I sent out a message to arrange details of the checkin procedure), and despite staying for four nights I never met the hosts once (although, I think, one of them living in the house). Perhaps I was just unlucky, as I can see that many other people have had very positive experiences here!
Nonetheless, Maria's house provided a comfortable and safe place to stay whilst I was in SF and, despite some of my groceries being consumed from the fridge perhaps by another guest due to the anonymity of the place (which I do not hold the hosts accountable for at all – in fact, they had kindly placed red stickers on my groceries to indicate they were non-communal), I could tell that Maria had done her best to make the place convenient and welcoming for her guests with a very nice kitchen with provided basic provisions, a washing machine, and the whole place was very nicely decorated and felt like home.
I would certainly consider staying here again, despite the shortcomings, and it was a really beautiful place at a great price. It's worth bearing in mind that the turnaround here is quite large though, and to set expectations accordingly. Thanks for hosting me, Maria and Graham :)
The apartment is really beautiful!
Very clean and elegant with all services you could need.
Also the bathroom, living room and kitchen are very clean and beautiful. The "red room" I used is large, noiseless and very very comfortable.
I arrived very late, the first night, but the host (who was filling in for Maria and Graham) made the effort to greet me, never-the-less.
The space is lovely: a quiet refuge from the dynamism of SoMa. Everything inside reinforces that sense of warmth, order, and comfort. I loved the palpably-experiential photography, the well-organized setting, and the effective use of space.
The planning and summaries provided were excellent, and the efficiencies of the place made it easy to come and go at my terrible hours with minimal disruption.
Everything was clean and well-cared-for, with amenities generous. I would heartily recommend to anyone staying in SF.
