This was my first trip to Oahu, and my first time ever using Air BnB. I was thinking of moving to Hawaii, and wanted to stay for a month. And I did exactly that.
Laretta & Steve are both amazing people! The house is rented out almost like a hotel. The hot tub is lovely, the rooms are neat and clean. It really feels like you're at home.
Laretta also offers tours and guidance to local places to see dolphin and turtles. Also where to eat, and other places to visit, as well as cool beaches! I cannot stress enough how wonderful this place is. Laretta also is listing more rooms to stay on the west side of Oahu as "pineapple patch", it's a pretty glorious space as well.
If you want an inexpensive and cozy place to stay while traveling banana patch is the spot! You will want to rent a car though, it is further from Honolulu & Waikiki. But I find that it's nicer to be away from the touristy stuff, and the beaches are a lot less crowded.
I highly recommend this place.
The best hosts we have met so far :). They cared a lot that everyone felt home, took us on a wonderful sight seeing tour along the shorelines in west Ohao and helped us with so much : ). Thank you, we had a great time. The garden, the view and a lot more are also unique. You have to visit them :)!
This visit was the second time I have stayed here and it was again a wonderful experience. The rooms are clean and comfy, public transportation right outside, beautiful scenery and beaches close by. I love staying here because there are always interesting people staying here and it is a wonderful set up to socialize with others or withdraw if you want. Steve and Laretta are the most accommodating of hosts. I would (and have) recommend to others and will stay again!
We stayed with Steve and Laretta for 3 nights and we enjoyed our overall stay. Their spacious home is located on the west coast of Hawaii and away from the touristy city life of Waikiki. Laretta also gave us a very nice tour of the hidden gems of Waianae. We got the private room, shared bath on the second floor and both were very clean, comfortable and roomy. We also had access to their kitchen and it had essential items to aide in our cooking. They also have a garden and were generous to give us a taste of some of their fruit and herbs. We also had access to their jacuzzi which was nice after a hot hike. Thank you very much for a lovely experience and we would recommend this place!
Stayed here for almost 8 weeks, and it was all good. It was like a home away from home. Steve and Laretta were so friendly. The place got a high standard, especially considering the price which is really reasonable. They got filtered tap water which is actually better than bottled water, Netflix and lots of fresh fruit. And a jacuzzi! The traffic to and from there can be annoying, but is however easily avoided by going at the right times of day. So no biggie. All in all a great place to stay.
Steve was as absolutely fantastic host, it was a pity we didn't get to meet Laretta as she was away while we were there.
They let us use the kayak, surf boards and snorkelling gear while we were there which was really nice.
We really enjoyed our stay there and also enjoyed having the cats aswell!!
Laretta and Steve were so awesome! I'm so glad we stayed at their place! It's a lovely home. Jacuzzi is easy to access and always at the right temperature. Close to a lot of beach access. Definitely worth having Laretta show you the hidden spots. You can tell Laretta loves her destination. Definitely paradise! We shall dolphins! They were talking to us! Would definitely stay if ever we come back to Oahu! Congrats to Laretta for her new grand baby!

Thanks Laretta, for the wonderful stay at your home! I really enjoyed my vacation at your beautiful home and I am looking forward to come back soon. You are the perfect host and helped me a lot!
I would really recommend this place to stay in Hawaii. Not only because it is the perfect first experience with "airbnb", but also because you get to know the real Hawaii with all its "Aloha".
The bed was unbelievable comfortable - I literally slept like a baby in it. The kitchen is great and got all the facilities you need to cook. Also the bathroom is very clean and neat!
The garden is also great with all its fruit trees and the "hot tube - whirlpool" is the perfect addition to a day at the beach.
There is lot of space in the front of the house to park your car and also the place is really easy to find. It is a very quite neighborhood and I felt totally save there!
All in all the perfect place to stay in Hawaii!
I had never been to Hawaii had no idea what to expect traveling their alone. Despite this, Laretta and Steve made my first Hawaiian experience an easy and comfortable one. She is not too far from Honolulu, but if you're staying with her, she will show you the more immediate area near her place and what it has to offer. She took me on a personal tour of the area and allowed me the use of her ocean kayak to explore the beautiful coast near her place (I got to see dolphins and sea turtles while doing so!).
Here place is very clean and the other guests were very kind and generous as well. You have plenty of space within your room and for cooking/eating as well. Staying with Laretta is a GREAT value!
Steve and Laretta are wonderful hosts! My husband and I got a tour of the quiet, beautiful side of Oahu and learned about a lot of hidden gems. We hiked Ka'enna point, saw a cave, swam with turtles and snorkeled. Steve helped us with the kayak and gave us great recommendations. It was truly a comfortable place to stay, and we met a few fellow travelers who were a joy to connect with. My only regret is that we didn't get to spend as much time there as we had wedding duties to attend to.
