Loretta was awesome. She went above and beyond our expectation. We felt very welcome and at home. I never felt once that she was about $ she served with her heart and has a passion for being a great host. She treated us real nice on our honeymoon and gave us a special gift
Room was very nice clean and comfortable and quiet too. At first sight waini side is not much to see but Lorena took us on a tour and saw lots of amazing natural beauties.
Laretta's home is an ideal place to stay for a visit to O'ahu's western coast. There are two floors with multiple rooms and 2 kitchens, so there's plenty of possibility for interaction with other guests. I enjoyed hanging out and chatting with other guests during my stay, as well as spending time out on her lanai, listening to nearby roosters crowing and soaking up the ambiance of a quiet space with plants and her affectionate cats. Laretta is an incredibly thoughtful host who genuinely cares about her guests.
Laretta's place lies on the beautiful Waimea coast, where tourism hasn't had a big impact yet, and I loved it :-) Her house is very well maintained, my room, the kitchen, bathroom, everything was very clean and nice. I enjoyed the jacuzzi in the garden as well as Laretta's nickel tour around town to the best spots along the coast. There are several rooms for rent so I met a bunch of very cool other travelers and enjoyed having a glass of wine with them in the evening or joining a couple from awesome Cincinatti ;-) on a tour up to the North Shore to do a sunset cruise. My room #2 was facing the main street so there's always some traffic noise, which didn't bother me too much though. Thank you for a very pleasant stay Laretta and all the best :-)
Me and my friend enjoyed our stay at Banana Patch Home. Everyone that we met was nice and friendly. Laretta was a great host, anything that we need all we had to do was ask. The fruit was very good and if God bless me to return to Hawaii I will stay at her place again. It was clean and comfortable.
I booked this for my daughter and her partner - Laretta was very kind and accommodating in understanding our slightly unusual circumstances. They made this comment about the room:
We really enjoyed our stay at the Banana Patch. The hosts are wonderful and Laretta gave us great tips about the area. It was nice to be away from the busyness in Waikiki and we found Banana Patch a great base for exploring the island. With Laretta's advice and borrowed snorkels we were able to swim with sea turtles which was a highlight for us. We were up before sunrise most mornings so we didn't spend alot of time in our room, but it was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Room 2 is close to the road, so light sleepers may wish to request a room further back in the building (there are several available) but this wasn't an issue for us. We had a great time and only wish we could've stayed longer.
Laretta was very kind and helpful. I thought it was particularly kind of her to take some of us on what she called a “nickel” tour. It was very helpful. She showed us how to find little treasures along the coast. I would never have found them without her help. She also let us use snorkels, fins, beach chairs, beach towels and sun tan lotion from the house. These supplies saved me a bundle and helped make my visit much more enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed snorkeling and sitting on the beach with the turtles. It was well worth the cost to stay at the Banana Patch. The room was clean, comfortable and had a private key. It was a little far from Honolulu, but well worth the stay.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 days, and we loved it. We woke up at the crack of dawn, and came home late every night, so we didn't get to talk with Laretta and Steve too much, but they were delightful when we did see them! The house is clean and organized and lovely. We were in Room 2 and it was perfect. Every room was full when we were there, and it was great. Nice people from all over - and the pin board in the living room is so cool!!! I missed the Nickel Tour, which made me sad, but I heard great things about it. Overall, I highly recommend staying here! It was a clean, safe, friendly environment and the bed was really comfy! A+ in my book!

About the Host, Laretta
Local nurse into health and wellness; there's a garden in the back most of the year. I like a serene, calm environment that promotes good healthy fun! Enjoy ocean activities, and I know little secret places that I'll share with you when you come. The five things I just can't live without would be connecting with my grown kids and my one grand child; Knowing Stephen is here, and the 5 beautiful, loving cats and 1 sweet, soulful dog that lives on this acre with us; Gardening and creating meditative spaces to go to and relax.Last but certainly not least would be creating a restful, clean place where guests from all over the world could come and feel "at home and accepted" during their travels. My favorite travel destination is Hawaii ! Favorite motto: "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance"." By helping others, I actually am helping myself.
