Bright, panoramic and elegantly furnished apartment, located in vicolo del Leopardo, a quiet and peaceful street in the heart of old Trastevere.
My house is a bright and elegantly furnished apartment of about 35 square meters situated in the heart of the old Trastevere, in vicolo del Leopardo, a pleasant and quiet street, 3 min walking distance from piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and from Ponte Sisto. The house was renovated on December 2012. Located at the fourth floor (no elevator) of a historical building, it is composed by a living room with sofa bed, a small kitchenette fully equipped , one double bedroom, bathroom with shower, sink, wc provided with shower set for use as a bidet.
The apartment is always very clean and all the objects are in perfect conditions.
There are three panoramic windows overlooking the old tiled roofs of the neighboring houses and the fifteenth-century facade of the church of San Pietro in Montorio, lying on Janiculum hill. The house is very quiet and full of natural light.
The equipment includes: fridge/freezer, double hob induction, microwave/grill oven, electric heating, air conditioning, electric water heater 50 liters, TV, wi-fi, notebook with internet key.
Additional services: baby sitters, dogsitters, guides, catering.
At the time of check-in, the apartment owner (lessor) and the guest (tenant) will sign a short rental aggreement with the following conditions:
All costs of management of the apartment (water, electricity, building, taxes and so on) are charged to the lessor.
The tenant declares that he has examined the apartment, furniture and the objects it contains, and found them suitable for own use, is obliged to return them to the end of the contract in the same state.
If the tenant, for any reason, leaves the apartment before the scheduled departure date, no refund will be made.
The lessor is responsible for any damage caused to the driver for the malfunctioning of the apartment and the objects it contains, is not responsible for any theft or other damages suffered by the tenant as a result of the intervention of outsiders in the apartment, even in his absence.
The tenant is not allowed to sublease, even partially. They are also prohibited parties, loud music and other annoying noises.
The tenant must vacate the apartment before 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure. If the lessor will not be present at the time of departure, the driver will leave the keys of the house on the dining room table and close the door by pulling it behind him.
Marco was a fantastic host! Though our flight was delayed and we arrived late in the evening, he happily met us at the flat and made sure we had all the information we needed. Marco is a very polite, responsive, and thorough host. He provides instructions for how to use/find everything you need both inside and outside the flat. His website and guest book were fantastic for information about the neighborhood and his detailing of the history of the block really enhanced our experience.
We loved the flat as well. It was a perfect little hideaway for us and, in a neighborhood as active as Trastevere, it's a treat to come home to this quiet space at night. Everything was extremely clean and organized. The little kitchen area has everything you need (our daily espressi and eggs gave us just the oomph we needed to brave the VERY cold early mornings Rome brought us this New Year).
The flat's location is extremely convenient: There are pharmacies, groceries, eateries and a laundromat only a few steps away. There is a taxi stand within a 4 minute walk (at the river) as well as the Ponte Sisto which we made good use of.
Great experience overall. Thank you, Marco!
Magnifique séjour chez Marco. L'appartement est très agréable et très calme. Le quartier, plein de boutiques et de petits restaurants est idéal pour se rendre facilement dans tous les sites de Rome. Marco a été un hôte charmant et disponible.
We had a great time staying in Marcos lovely apartment in Trastevere.
This is my second time staying here and it is a perfect base for exploring Rome. We were able to walk everywhere and the apartment is a clean and comfortable. Marco was there to greet us and made sure we had all the information that we needed. Great restaurants all around as well Thankyou
Marco was very welcoming and had everything prepared. He was all smiles and had plenty of great advice for exploring Rome. The flat is very cosy, and stylish decorated. A perfect offset for exploring Rome. The location in Travestere is great, with stunning views and plenty of great restuarents just around the corner.
The apartment is so lovely, clean and you can find all the essential things you need. Trastevere is a wonderful area and the apartment is located in one of the quieter streets but close to all the bars and restaurants. There is even a great restaurant downstairs with great food. With an easy walking distance you can get to great attractions of Rome; Piazza Venezia, Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon and etc.
My only suggestion is not to take heavy suitcase since it's on the fourth floor and no lift but then again I am a little lazy:)
Marco was very attentive and helpful and the apartment was exactly what was described. I had a lovely time and will recommend it and most probably will stay there again.
Mille grazie!
We had a wonderful stay at Marco's apartment in October 2014. It is located in a tiny authentic Italian street and right in the middle of Trastevere with all the bars and restaurant around the corner. The flat is located on the 4th floor in an old building with no lift and a tiny staircase ( so better arrive light and shop there ;)) so you have to be reasonably fit. The flat is small with lovely wooden ceiling and has a very sophisticated, old-style, academic feel about it with a living room and bedroom. The bathroom is functional though the shower is slightly small so also recommended for rather slimmer people. Marco was very welcoming and if we have had time we would have asked more about Archeology.
We would definitely recommend staying there, it really made our trip very authentic Italian. We will definitely come back :)
A word of caution: As Trastevere is full of cobbled stone, it is quite a journey from the tram/ bus to the apartment as you really have to pull the suitcase (not just roll as with new suitcases!) or even partly carry it.
My name is Marco. I was born in Rome in 1958. I'm archaeologist, adjunct university professor, member of an italian archaeological mission in Libya (in the photo I'm in a Libyan bar), expert about ancient architecture, survey and 3d reconstruction. I've written three books about these subjects as well as numerous articles in various scientific journals.
I created a website about archaeological survey and ancient architecture, containing hundreds of pages and images freely downloadable.
I'm member of a Rowing Club in Rome; practice agonistic rowing by participating in regattas of the Federazione Italiana Canottaggio. I move regularly by bicycle. I'm great lover and connoisseur of the Abruzzo where I hiking, biking and skiing from over twenty years.
In 1980, when I was still a university student, I came to live in this house. At that time I had a lot of friends who attended the numerous alternative venues that began to flourish in the center of Rome, especially in Trastevere. My home was a crossroads. My friends were knocking on the door at all hours of the day and night. My evenings were always very crowded and lively.
Now I travel often for work; when absent I rent my apartment for a short time to those who come to Rome to work, to study or to visit our wonderful monuments.
I'm always available to advise and guide all my guests on archaeological sites, museums and other places of historical and artistic interest.
