The Space

This is a one of a kind modern converted tugboat house on the Columbia River in a marina. Enjoy three decks with an unobstructed view looking West down the river.Enjoy a king size memory foam bed with an amazing view. It has the original wheel house with a double fold out futon bed and bamboo floors, beautiful for viewing Mt. Hood the sailboats and activities on the river. Bamboo floors also cover the living room with heated tile kitchen and bathroom floors.
You need to be able to walk up and down a ramp that is about 250 feet to the house boat and maneuver up and down narrow steep stairs.
The two closest restaurants are Salty's and The Sextant..Both have a great views of the Columbia River. Salty's is more of an upscale restaurant and The Sextant is more (email hidden)ere is a restaurant located three doors down from me but is only open May 23rd through October 1.
The closest grocery store is located on Hayden Island which is around 5 miles away, with a Target, Ross ,Home Depot and other shopping available.

Other Things to Note

Please NO DIVING OR JUMPING off the tughouse.
The water can get very shallow and you don't know what could be below the water. Also NO CHILDREN as it is not child proof and a huge liability. Remember that I do live 15 minutes from the Airport and planes do fly over my place, sometimes early in the morning.

  • My husband and I loved staying in Denise's Tughouse! It was so nice to get away and we enjoyed all of the decks! The views of the sunset were amazing, and it was quiet and cozy. We would highly recommend this charmer!

  • An everlasting memory! I had a great time here, the views of the river are amazing and the sunsets are hard to beat. I have stayed in the a working tugboat before and the conversion into a houseboat that has taken place is absolutely amazing! Very nice communication with Denise and the check-in/out process was extremely easy. Recommend to anyone wanting to spend some time on the water.

  • It's rare that you get to spend the weekend pretending you're a pair of tugboat captains, but that's exactly what my partner and I were able to do thanks to Denise. We arrived in our finest of nautical attire and spent our time leisurely drinking salty dogs on not 1, not 2, but 3 decks. The tughouse was surprisingly spacious and well-equipped, and the king-sized bed with a stretching view of the Columbia was a fantastic way to end the day. Zero complaints, and by some miracle of nature we disembarked MINUTES before the rain started falling.

The only issue we had was with the airplanes overhead. I've lived near many airports, so typically I don't even notice, but at 6am on Sunday morning I jolted awake to the loudest and scariest plane noise I've ever heard. And I typically sleep through anything. I literally thought a plane was going to crash into the boat. At 6:20 it happened again. Perhaps military aircraft? The noise wouldn't stop me from staying there again, but knowing about it would stop me from nearly having a heart attack.

  • My boyfriend and I traveled to Portland for his 26th birthday and luckily stayed on the Tug house and it was the perfect getaway! Close to the airport which was very convenient for our arrival and departure and close to the freeway to get to downtown which is only a 10-15 drive. The tug house was beautifully decorated with lovely art through out the house, very clean and spacious enough for the both of us staying. Luckily the weather was nice and sunny during our stay so we got to enjoy the deck. This definitely added a little something to our experience in Portland.

Denise was a great host as well, we didn't get to meet but she was quick to respond to any questions I had and was welcoming enough to leave us a basket of snacks and coffee. I definitely recommend staying here, it's a wonderful experience.

  • This was an amazing find on airbnb. Our host was lovely and helpful, and excellent about communicating with us. We arrived to a basket of snacks and coffee, which was fantastic. It was cozy without being too small, and very, very comfortable, in addition to being beautifully decorated and clearly well-loved. We enjoyed sitting on the deck to enjoy the river view. The location was within easy driving distance of everything we wanted to see in Portland. It was easy to get to the freeway, too, which made it easy to head out of town for a day of hiking. It is close to the airport, so you can hear the planes, but they weren't so loud that they woke us up, and we stopped noticing pretty quickly. I can't say enough about how delighted we were with every aspect of this stay!

  • What a wonderful experience! The tughouse was beautifully furnished and appointed. It was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, dining table and a wonderful living room that had a great view down the Columbia River. The bedroom upstairs had even more spectacular views! A king size bed was comfortable - and the view made it easy to sleep in. Denise was wonderful. It's a little more difficult to find than a house would be, but Denise gave precise instructions so that we went right to the door. We highly recommend this tughouse to anyone wanting a well appointed, comfortable place to enjoy Portland.
