This is a one of a kind modern converted tugboat house on the Columbia River in a marina. Enjoy three decks with an unobstructed view looking West down the river.Enjoy a king size memory foam bed with an amazing view. It has the original wheel house with a double fold out futon bed and bamboo floors, beautiful for viewing Mt. Hood the sailboats and activities on the river. Bamboo floors also cover the living room with heated tile kitchen and bathroom floors.
You need to be able to walk up and down a ramp that is about 250 feet to the house boat and maneuver up and down narrow steep stairs.
The two closest restaurants are Salty's and The Sextant..Both have a great views of the Columbia River. Salty's is more of an upscale restaurant and The Sextant is more of a sports bar. There is a restaurant located three doors down from me called The Deck Restaurant, but is only open May 23rd through October 1.
The closest grocery store is located on Hayden Island which is around 5 miles away, with a Target, Ross ,Home Depot and other shopping available. There is a New Seasons store on 33rd.
Interaction with Guests
It is rare that I get to meet my guests as I am usually gone. I have great communication with my guest my text and calls, getting lost or any questions they may have.
The neighbors are so friendly...
Other Things to Note
Please NO DIVING OR JUMPING off the tughouse.
The water can get very shallow and you don't know what could be below the water. Also NO CHILDREN as it is not child proof and a huge liability. Remember that I do live 15 minutes from the Airport and planes do fly over my place. They start around 6:30 most morning, I am used to them and the geese that fly in. Sometimes they fight with each other and might be annoying to some.
It is such a wonderful place that it is worth it to me to live here.
Shoes must be taken OFF in the mud room before entry into the house. Things should be left neat and (website hidden) glasses to be set on wood furniture. Please do not eat on the couch and please respect my home. PLEASE do not contact the office at McCuddy's Marina. Please do not mistake the LARGE WHITE TUGHOUSE for mine, he does not appreciated the unwanted attention, VERY IMPORTANT....!!!
Also this is not to be used for a party house, inviting groups of people down is not ok. One more IMPORTANT rule, PLEASE no feminine products or anything that has not been eaten first to be flushed down the toilet, it will plug the honey pot.
The tugboat house is absolutely fantastic! What an experience! The house is very well designed, very tasteful and cozy. It's also so unique that it is an attraction in itself. We even saw a group of seals out of the bedroom window. Denise was a very nice host, she welcomed us with some treats, and one can easily tell how much love she put into the house.
My son and I will always remember my short trip to Portland and our wonderful stay on the tugboat/houseboat. It was well equipped, decorated, comfortable, neat and clean and the views were fabulous! Denise thoughtfully left snacks and coffee too. Overall a fabulous and novel experience. We loved it!
We really enjoyed our stay at the tugboat. It is clean, very cozy, and nicely decorated. We had fun exploring the different levels, including sunbathing on the top deck and dinner on the bottom deck. We loved being right on the water, watching the geese, seagulls, and sea lions swimming in the distance. The tug is perfectly situated with an excellent view of the river. We enjoyed watching the boats on the river, and the jets flying overhead from the airport. We even had a front row seat to a beautiful sunset. The large bed was very comfortable and the tile shower was roomy for a small home. Despite being 35 minutes from home, we felt like we were thousands of miles away. Amazing!
Wonderful experience, space was as described. Very clean and neat. Highly recommended. The sea lions came swimming by unexpected and only added to the adventure.
This is a great location, i heard from the owner that its open for a limited time and hope that doesnt actually happen. If you are considering this location i highly reccomend it asap
We had a fantastic time on the tugboat. The entire boat was extremely clean and Denise was very helpful from start to finish with information about how to get to the boat and directions on how to use equipment on the houseboat if we needed it.
The tugboat floating home was unique - loved it! It was rainy & chilly, so did not use the lovely outdoor areas, but so cozy inside to read, watch TV, relax. Stylishly decorated and has everything from great shower, kitchen w/ heated floors to TV system and wifi. Planes flying into PDX fun to watch and surprisingly did not seem too noisy. Appreciated that the host provided some extras like fruit, popcorn & coffee. Fun to live right on the river for a few days!
I grew up in Portland, I have two grow children and 2 grandsons. I retired from the U.S P.S. after 27 years. I took a year and a half off, went to Hawaii for the first time and now back to work driving a school bus.
