Our house is located near the Portland Airport, with easy access to downtown, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood and all the other great spots Portland has to offer! We are in a mellow residential neighborhood; walking distance to the Roseway Theater and about a mile from Beaumont Village, which has lots of shops and restaurants to explore. The famous Hollywood Theatre and district is about 2 miles away and served by a bus line. The best Vietnamese and Thai food in the city is walking distance from our door. Fire On The Mountain is a popular restaurant about a mile down the road. They specialize in chicken wings, but have pizza, burgers, a brewery and full bar. Downtown is straight down Sandy Blvd., which is served by a bus line as well as access to MAX which will take you pretty much anywhere in the city.

About the space!

If you want more than just a bedroom for your travels, this is your spot. You get about 900 sf to yourself, including a private bath and shared laundry right outside your door. This makes a great rental for couples, or families up to 6. Not to mention an awesome private backyard to BBQ, relax and enjoy the Hot Springs tub right outside your private entrance!

You will have a private access to the funky, retro basement unit. The space is essentially one large family room which acts as our chill out space when it is not being rented. There is a wood stove, console record player with lots of old records, TV with DVD, VHS, games and lots of movies to choose from. The old-school NINTENDO has been a major hit with many of our guests. There is a pullout queen sofa bed in the main room, in addition to a full size bed in its own separate alcove room. Due to multiple requests and the size of the space, we now also have a nice queen size air mattress in order to accommodate up to 6!

There is a full bathroom with shower just outside the room. Laundry is shared with us in the other half of the basement. I just added a mini fridge and microwave in the room. You have access to the full kitchen on the main floor dependent on your needs. There is a nice, private backyard with HOT TUB that you are free to use to relaxing those sore muscles after a day on the mountain, or just roaming the city. We are happy to give information about Portland, as well as things to do while you're visiting.

NOTE. Weekly and monthly pricing is based on single or double occupancy. $20 per night per additional person will be calculated after you request the space.

Private apartment with separate entrance. Your own bathroom with shower, laundry and full kitchen is shared with us. Full access to back patio with BBQ and Hotsprings tub. Plenty of seating outside for those gorgeous spring and summer evenings.

We like to meet our guests when they arrive, and will take your lead of how much interaction you want with us. We have hung out with many of our guests out back, played some Nintendo and records downstairs, or shared coffee in the morning. If you just want your privacy, that's ok too!

We love our neighborhood because it's on a quiet, tree lined street out of all the hustle and bustle. Yet it's extremely close to all of Portland's nightlife and pubs, coffeehouses, brunch spots and the like. And then you can come home to your quiet, private backyard and chill in the hot tub...:)

3 Bus lines within a block, MAX access for easy travel throughout the city. The Sandy line will take you straight downtown basically from our front door! Fremont line will take you to Beaumont Village, Mississippi district, and Williams.

  • This was a great find for us! We went to Portland to visit family and needed a home base that was kid-friendly for our 3.5 year old. Nick and Monique's place was an excellent fit. We didn't get to meet Monique as she was out of town during our stay, but Nick was very responsive, friendly and welcoming during booking and while we were there. Great backyard, convenient location, and a comfortable place to stay.

  • Although I never had the opportunity to meet Nick, he was a very responsive and attentive host along with Monique and Fiona. They live in a charming, quiet neighborhood, and the space was very comfortable and cozy. Nick and Monique provided everything for us -- from towels and toothpaste to guidebooks (an incredibly diverse selection!) and restaurant reccommendations. They are fabulous hosts with a beautiful family and home; highly reccommend staying! Thank you for being a lovely part of our Portland adventure!

Thanks Gretchen! Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I was bummed I didn't get to meet you either, but between my work schedule and your late arrival we just couldn't connect:( I did have a chance to meet your dad though. I am glad Monique was around to meet your family and perhaps we can visit you in Vermont!?

  • This was a great place to stay. Nick, Monique and Fiona (their 2 year old) were wonderful. We played cards, sang and hot tubbed! There is a wood stove and it was great to make a fire at night time. Vintage is right! There is an old phonograph with fun records, I felt like I was back in the 70s again. I would definately stay there again and have made some great new friends!

  • The hosts were great. Very interesting to talk with them. Place was really nice, quiet, has the hot tub, a private bath, and a washer and dryer which you can use. Very comfortable. Location is great. Close to the airport, close to the Hollywood District, lots of Viet and Thai food around. Only about 15 minutes to downtown Portland. We spent 17 days there and enjoyed it immensely. Would Recommend this place without hesitation.

  • Nick and Monique were great!!! And very helpful with recommendations in the area. They even had some portland beer in the fridge when we arrived :). The hot tub was a great amenity and we had access to the kitchen to make food/ coffee etc. !

Great location! We enjoyed the vintage style and were able to play nintendo and watch movies from their collections when we wanted to relax!

    Thanks Nick & Monique!!

  • Staying here was a great experience! Nick and Monique were very friendly and welcoming, and everything was exactly as described in their profile. We had lots of fun with the dartboard in particular. The space fit the four of us easily, and was a fantastic place to relax at after a day exploring Portland. We highly recommend it.

  • Very nice hosts and great location. Only downfall, place appeared slightly different in person than in the images (skilled photographer!) and it smells a bit musky in the basement. Otherwise, cool, retro place.

  • Nick and his family were very welcoming of my friends and I. We only spent a night in Nick's house, but we slept well. We had access to our own bathroom which was nice and clean. We very much enjoyed feeling like kids again, playing some old Mario Bros on a low volume as soon as we woke up :-) My boyfriend and I had only just arrived from Europe, so we woke up and left quite early, missing the opportunity to share a pot of coffee with Nick and Monique. Hopefully next time. Thanks for having us stay!

  • Nick and Monique were great. Very welcoming. We just stayed a night but the space was huge and comfy. My niece really liked the dart board!

We got a really good recommendation for breakfast too.

Would stay again, the neighborhood is quiet but they're close to a main drag into town.

  • Our stay at Nick & Monique's was comfortable and homey. The space is ample and has cool amenities such as an extensive record collection and access to the kitchen. My trip was spent mainly with friends, so I didn't interact too much with my hosts, but my limited conversation was warm and friendly. I highly recommend Nick & Monique's to any Portland traveller!
