My house is built in a warm, friendly wooden surf shack style. Sitting backed into the jungle a mear 400m up the side of a hill on a secluded private road, overlooking playa St Teresa from the famous surf break, Suck Rock to the North, down to La Lora in the South. It's a few minutes walk uphill from the main road but the view and the privacy is worth every single step. The beach, surf rentals and a grocery store are all in 5 - 10 minutes walking distance.
You will have the small bedroom facing to the side of the house. It features a queen size bed and a shelf for your stuff. It is pretty small but you will have access to all the nice parts of the house: The outside kitchen and the massive balcony and deck brings you close to living with nature. Relax in the hammocks and swinging chairs or enjoy a nice BBQ in the evening. The decision whether and where to go surfing is usually made while enjoing a coffee or fresh juice on the balcony at breakfast.
During your stay I will normally live with my girlfriend in another bedroom and will be happy to help you with recommendations. We will share the bathroom. There is also a studio with full kitchen and sitting area in the basement that I rent out. You can check out my other listings for that.
Come and enjoy a little slice of heaven and some of the most amazing sunsets from the balcony.
We had a lot of fun staying with Youbi & Verena. The view was wonderful, though he's not kidding about the hill—it is quite steep & long, especially after a day of getting your butt kicked in the surf.
My favourite part of our stay was the wonderful porch, with hammocks and swinging chairs, and an outdoor kitchen. We fell asleep to howler monkeys and the waves.
Once you reach the bottom of the hill it's a short walk to a small grocery store, several restaurants, a nightclub, and some surf shops (and the beach, of course). The main road is surprisingly loud with all the quads and 4x4s, so we were really glad to be up the hill and away from all the commotion.
Youbi & Verena were wonderfully helpful, with great surfing tips and recommendations on places to visit. Thanks to Verena I was able to buy some wonderful toasted coconut oil from a small shop I never would have found otherwise, and we were able to visit a great organic farmer's market on Saturday that had things like organic coffee, cocoa butter, handmade chocolate, and beautiful produce. They were also able to help us get a deal on a quad rental, which was so helpful as we weren't able to afford one otherwise.
Was a beautiful experience. We loved our hosts and the location. The house is very special for it's view and solitary feel. I just wish we had more time to hang out at the house. Perfect spot for writing, reading, and relaxing. Just be sure rent a 4x4 vehicle to get up the steep incline to the house or go by foot.
I had a great time staying at Youbi's house. He and his girlfriend (and a rotating cast of friends and guests) made for a week of interesting conversations and beautiful sunsets from the hillside perch. As others have said, it's a hike up the hill and the kitchen and bath are shared--not at all a problem for me, and it felt more like being a houseguest of a really warm, relaxed couple. Great experience!
We were travelling Costa Rica and stayed for 6 days at Youbis house and - in a nutshell - if we could, we had spent more time there ... Santa Teresa is an amazing area and Youbis house was a paradise! The location is fantastic as it's really calm up the hill with a crazy good view over the ocean and the best sunsets in Costa Rica!
Youbi is a great host, very entertaining, relaxed and super friendly.
We loved to stay there. Thanks for everything!
Perfect spot to stay in Santa Teresa :) we loved it here, muchas gracias xx
this place is gorgeous! we had a great time there! nacho (the housekeeper for the next few weeks) is such a kind and laid-back person. he helped us a lot when our rental car had some problems and needed to be changed, so he made the phone calls for us. you can see the sunsets just perfectly. don't miss that place!
Youbi is a great host, and his home is the perfect place to kick back after a day of surfing or exploring the surrounding areas. My girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended our stay by a couple of days. Youbi's place is within easy walking distance of the beach, but far enough up the hill that you get away from the dusty Santa Teresa roads in the dry season. The fresh mangoes that grow right next door are the best I've ever had. The back deck and open kitchen have amazing views of the ocean and sunset.
Youbi went above and beyond on several occasions - whether grabbing some aloe vera plants from his neighbour for our wicked sun burns, or giving us a ride into town on his ATV. He was great company with a lot of helpful advice and excellent restaurant recommendations.
Me and my friend Jeanette wanted to go to Santa Teresa to try out surfing, the evening before we where heading with the bus we sent in a request to Youbi and he replied fast and was very welcoming and offered to come pick us up with the fourwheeler when we arrived.
We left from Manuel Antonio and was in luck meeting some cool family from America that gave us a rid in their private bus to Santa Teresa otherwise we would have never made it in time, we arrived like 9 in the evening.
Youbi and his girlfriend were so welcoming and open with their wonderful home. We really liked the open kitchen and the bed was amazing!
We had booked 2 nights from the start but we quite fast decided that we wanted to stay for 3 nights more just because of the good place to stay. Our hosts had to go away from the last 3 days and they where so kind to let us stay even thou they where gone.
The view sure is amazing and only "downside" would be the uphill to walk, but it was good excersize. Also it´s the same road as the tsunami evacutation route, so might be something due to that ;)
If I ever plan to go back to Santa Teresa I sure will see if Youbi still has the place available and I would totally recommend it for anyone that like a good place to stay with awesome and cool people as hosts.
My friend and i are travelling through Costa Rica for 5 weeks and Youbi's place was definitely one of our Highlights. Youbi's Home has a unique charm which is due to the amazing view, the lovely garden and the regular visits of animals like lizards and birds - But still you have all the amenities like wifi, warm water, a fan, etc. Youbi was a warm-hearted host and we enjoyed his company. You will definitely have a great time staying at his place! :)
