About this listing
Beautiful, inspiring and peaceful. 5 minutes to town and a world away.
A peaceful retreat awaits you in the trees just outside of West Asheville's "locals" downtown! Walkable to Haywood Rd and all our excellent neighborhood restaurants, art and yoga studios, farmers market and pubs. Or you can borrow a bike from us and zip into town.
This is a quiet place to write and rest, do yoga or just commune with the big oaks around your private deck. The studio is small (12x15) but well equipped with a complete kitchen (sans oven), table and chairs and a nice queen size bed. You have your own bathroom with shower and a laundry room is also available. It is a very private studio apartment below the main house which has its own entrance and outdoor space.
My husband and I are architects. We designed this house as well as other modern houses and business' in Asheville. We are from Europe and are currently on a world tour with our kids so you will meet our friends and managers, Lisa and Michele when you book with us.
If you are looking for an unique space that is peaceful and quiet but part of a vibrant creative community you will enjoy staying with us and we will enjoy hosting you!
Your little studio apartment is very private and overlooks only trees. You will have your own parking spot, use of the bikes, an outdoor area with table and chairs, use of the laundry room, your own fast wifi separate from the house and of course your own kitchen and bath.
Interaction with Guests
We will be available to greet you and answer any questions you have about the area when you arrive most of the time. If we are not available, keys, maps and our suggestions will be left for you. We will always be available by phone or text if you need anything.
West Asheville is the best! Quiet and neighborly, it's not like downtown Asheville with hotels and so many tourists but you can get there or the parkway or the Biltmore very quickly by car. Downtown, five minutes, everywhere else, ten minutes. We have our own downtown in West Asheville and there's many excellent restaurants and music venues within walking or biking distance.
We recommend cars or bikes for getting around. There's two River parks nearby for walking or running. The Hominy Creek trail and Hominy creek River park.
We do not charge a cleaning fee in order to keep your cost down and our selves sane. Just do your best to leave it in the same condition you found it. All supplies and a "honey do" list are provided in the studio. If you would rather pay a cleaning company $50, that's fine too. Just let us know and we will make arrangements for you.
This is a smoke free property. Please do not use pipes or tobacco and also, no burning things, like candles in your room. This keeps us all safe, Thanks!
Parking is on the street, just past the stairs leading to the house. If you need anything or have a request, please let us know. We truly want your stay to be a happy one and would appreciate the chance to have you leave us positive reviews.
From Sep 1 - Nov 30, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Great little studio! Made me feel right at home, it was very quiet and we had a lovely view of the trees all around. It felt very private and the deck was lovely for our morning coffee! The only downside was that the room didn't have ac which I didn't see in the listing. A portable one would have been a nice addition since it was July but it wasn't the end of the world. We would definitely stay again!
Our host was very welcoming and was there to help us settle in and provide us with all the necessary information. We were given useful tips and recommendations which proved useful. The location of the property was great and only a short drive away from downtown. The property description was accurate and similar to what we were expecting.
We had a nice stay in Asheville. The apartment was smaller than it appears in the pictures, and there is no air conditioner, which makes the summer nights fairly warm.
The apartment was in a convenient location, was clean, and Michelle was very responsive for the check in process.
We would gladly return for a repeat stay.
Spectacular, secluded setting nestled seconds from amenities and awesome W. Asheville dining spots. Feels like staying in a posh treehouse, surrounded by lush forrest. Small, downstairs, one room accommodation, but has everything you need, and hey, it's Asheville; you should be outdoors anyway.
We were greeted upon arrival by Michelle, who was kind and helpful. The space is tidy, cozy, comfortable and has two decks! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the back porch while listening to birds and the flowing creek.
While the space is below the main house, we never crossed paths or even heard the family upstairs. Ample parking, but no traffic, no other noise: solitude and peace abound.
Despite the secluded feel it is the PERFECT location for those who love nature and access to dining, entertainment, and downtown walking. Seconds from the highway, we could be in downtown Asheville in minutes.
The view is beautiful, relaxing and just what I expected. The studio apartment was clean, roomy and my girlfriend and I enjoyed sitting outside in the morning's listening to the birds sing while we drank our coffee. Asheville is an old and cute hippie town. Everyone is friendly and the food is very yummy. My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights and 4 days in Asheville, we went shopping, ate in the local restaurants and cafe's and drove out to Madison county to zip line and water raft. I recommend for any one who wants to get away from the city and wants to be one with nature, to stay at the West A'ville Sanctuary.
We want to come back with a group of my friends and family to stay at the main house either in the fall or spring.
We had a great stay. The space was cozy and clean. We didn't pay attention to the listing where it said there was no air conditioner - so if you are hot natured be aware! The surroundings were beautiful, and very close to West Asheville where there is so much to do! Also a very short drive to downtown. Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again!
The place was quite clean. Having only a little fan however made the room very warm. I would not recommend this apartment if it is warm outside.

About the Host, Jakub & Maria
Jakub and I have been together since 1999. We are both architects and we are both from Eastern Europe. We have two children, a boy and a girl. As a family we like hiking, mounting biking, travelling, creating art, reading and spending time with friends. We are planning a year of travel around the world November 2013- November 2014 and we are renting our house while away. We are very excited to share our home with others. We feel it is a special place and we hope you will enjoy it. What we most love about our home is its openness, the view of the trees, the quiet and the light.
