Beautiful, inspiring and peaceful. 5 minutes to town and a world away.
A peaceful retreat awaits you in the trees just outside of West Asheville's "locals" downtown! Walkable to Haywood Rd and all our excellent neighborhood restaurants, art and yoga studios, farmers market and pubs. Or you can borrow a bike from us and zip into town.
This is a quiet place to write and rest, do yoga or just commune with the big oaks around your private deck. The studio is small (12x15) but well equipped with a complete kitchen sans oven, table and chairs and a nice queen size bed. You have your own bathroom with shower and a laundry room is also available. It is a very private studio apartment which has its own entrance and outdoor space.
My husband and I are architects. We designed this house as well as other modern houses and business' in Asheville. We are from Europe and are currently on a world tour with our kids so you will meet our friends and managers, Lisa and Michele when you book with us.
If you are looking for an unique space that is peaceful and quiet but part of a vibrant creative community you will enjoy staying with us and we will enjoy hosting you!
Your little studio apartment is very private and overlooks only trees. You will have your own parking spot, use of the bikes, an outdoor area with table and chairs, use of the laundry room, your own fast wifi separate from the house and of course your own kitchen and bath.
Interaction with Guests
We will be available to greet you and answer any questions you have about the area when you arrive most of the time. If we are not available, keys, maps and our suggestions will be left for you. We will always be available by phone or text if you need anything.
West Asheville is the best! Quiet and neighborly, it's not like downtown Asheville with hotels and so many tourists but you can get there or the parkway or the Biltmore very quickly by car. Downtown, five minutes, everywhere else, ten minutes. We have our own downtown in West Asheville and there's many excellent restaurants and music venues within walking or biking distance.
We recommend cars or bikes for getting around. There's two River parks nearby for walking or running. The Hominy Creek trail and Hominy creek River park.
We do not charge a cleaning fee in order to keep your cost down and our selves sane. Just do your best to leave it in the same condition you found it. All supplies and a "honey do" list are provided in the studio. If you would rather pay a cleaning company $50, that's fine too. Just let us know and we will make arrangements for you.
This is a smoke free property. Please do not use pipes or tobacco and also, no burning things, like candles in your room. This keeps us all safe, Thanks!
Parking is on the street, just past the stairs leading to the house. If you need anything or have a request, please let us know. We truly want your stay to be a happy one and would appreciate the chance to have you leave us positive reviews.
The host was super accommodating. the space looks exactly like the pictures. It is a beautiful and extremely inspiring for those that appreciate architecture or just good looking buildings. The neighborhood is quiet and inviting, definitely reminds you that you are in the mountains. One thing to note is that it is only one bedroom if that was not already obvious from the pictures.
We had a great time in Asheville and loved the room, the setting was spectacular. You can walk to the main West Asheville strip on Haywood St (about a mile) and get all types of food and drink. Unfortunately, our stay happened during a winter storm so we couldn't take advantage of the porch, or outdoors in general, and the cold and icy conditions caused issues most travelers won't have to worry about. The stairs and path from the driveway down to the apartment were covered in ice our entire stay so it was an adventure every time we left and returned. Also because of the extreme weather, the outdoor condensing unit for the house above kept kicking on and was pretty loud.
We'd definitely stay here again-- I'm sure if the weather cooperated it would have been one of the most relaxing/rejuvenating rooms we've stayed in.
Michele and Lisa were very responsive and timely by text to questions.
The studio is beautiful, peaceful, and I thought the bed and sheets were cozy. It is a perfect space for 1 person or a couple. I enjoyed the serenity of the beautiful back deck that looks out on big old trees--you feel like you are in a forest, and yet you can see other houses so you feel safe and can be in West AVL in 5 mins! You can control your own heat.
There are lots of good things going on in West Asheville. Among my faves were Sunny Point Cafe--loved it! West Asheville Yoga is very special (a bit loud also, but the lovely amazing teachers make up for it)
Biscuit Head, and some other restos.
I actually chose my trip in large part in order to be able to stay in this cool space. It is simple, but has everything you need. It has a fridge if you want to go to a store and have some of your own food there.
I would definitely go back but here are some things to to keep in mind:
I and some other reviewers found the parking pad to be difficult to deal with. If you feel this way, ask the host if you can park on the street. The gravel slides a lot and is on a very steep incline. I had trouble getting out one day and the large stones shifted a lot.
Noise from the large house carries. I recommend bringing a travel white noise machine, or I suggested this to the hosts, and perhaps they might put one there.
I would go back, but I would ask to park on the street and bring a white noise machine and then I would be a happy camper!
Really a very special property!
Michele was there to greet us upon our arrival and showed us the ropes (literally — there is a zipline in back). She walked us through a map of the area and got us acquainted with the apartment itself. It was nice to have our own parking spot, the neighborhood was gorgeous and quiet and a quick drive into downtown. Perfect location, the space itself was small and cozy, just the essentials in a beautifully architected treehouse. Would stay again anytime.
My siblings and I booked this place for my parents as a Christmas present. They were absolutely in love with it. It is a small place, but plenty of space for just two people. It is also conveniently located near things in Asheville.
Our host, Lisa, was very accommodating of our schedule. The studio apartment was exactly what we expected based on the accurate pictures and description in the listing. The location was great, in a nice neighborhood and close to everything we wanted to see (downtown Asheville, The Biltmore). It was also only about 20 minutes to Wolf Ridge Ski Resort. It was a wonderful, very cozy place to stay and the included coffee was delicious!
The room is just as pictured. Cozy, clean & quiet. Conveniently located about ten - 15 minutes from many of the things we were looking to do (asheville glass center for glassblowing, music/dancing at Isis, eateries, hiking and galleries). Coffee is provided & the little kitchen area is enough to be functional and practical for the small space. Water pressure was lacking in the shower but otherwise everything was top notch. The bed is very comfy, the heat is set up so you can control it easily. Waking up surrounded by trees is peaceful. Don't miss the short zipline in the back! We appreciated the laundry option. There was a helpful stack of pamphlets in the room from previous guests. We would stay here again, our time in Asheville was too short.

Jakub and I have been together since 1999. We are both architects and we are both from Eastern Europe. We have two children, a boy and a girl. As a family we like hiking, mounting biking, travelling, creating art, reading and spending time with friends. We are planning a year of travel around the world November 2013- November 2014 and we are renting our house while away. We are very excited to share our home with others. We feel it is a special place and we hope you will enjoy it. What we most love about our home is its openness, the view of the trees, the quiet and the light.
