My family stayed in Dani's basement apartment for nearly a month. The location is great, it is a quick walk to all of the amenities in downtown Los Gatos and a quick hop onto highway 17. The apartment was well appointed with all of the amenities you could hope for. The king sized bed was nice as it seemed most listings in the area were smaller. They are in the process of renovating their back yard and I have no doubt it will be very nice when finished.
We were initially concerned about the noise from the description in the listing, but that was not an issue at all. If anything, our screaming kids were probably more of an issue for them (Sorry Dani if so)!
My only 'concern' was that parking was tight out front, depending on who is parked where you can get blocked in or have to be very careful backing out. But that is obviously a super minor thing.
Dani was very responsive to communications and great to work with. I would definitely highly recommend this to anyone staying in the Los Gatos/San Jose area.
I went to California for work for 2 months, and I really wanted to find a nice and comfortable place where I could relax at the end of a long working day. A real home away from home. I was also looking for a place with local amenities and a nice community feel to enjoy at weekends. And a place where I could safely go running in the early morning hours and also close to a nice yoga centre. I knew it was a lot to ask, and I feel so lucky I found Dani's place, as it really ticked all the boxes and so much more!
The apartment is beautiful (even more so than seen in the pictures!): tastefully decorated, spacious, featuring a comfortable sofa to relax in the evening and an even more comfortable bed to have a restoring sleep. The kitchen has all the tools you need to cook your own meals, such as pots, plates, cutlery, etc. The fridge/freezer is spacious enough to accommodate a full week's food supply. There is a washing machine and a dryer, which are super useful to get your laundry done easily and quickly.
Despite being a basement apartment, it doesn't suffer from lack of light. There are sufficient windows to let the light and air in, so no worries about that. Dani was extremely helpful and accommodating, helping me out with any requests I had, including allowing me to host my husband, my brother and his girlfriend. There is a high-end inflatable mattress available in the lounge in case extra sleeping space is needed.
The apartment is a 5 minutes walk to DowntownLos Gatos, which is one of the most welcoming and safest places to live in the Bay Area. I could easily and safely go running in the early morning hours. There is also a fantastic yoga centre 5 min drive away featuring of classes from 6am until late. Los Gatos has great places for breakfast/brunch, coffee, a farmers market on Sunday morning, and a new Cinema showing the latest blockbusters. And for the runners, the Los Gatos Creek Trail is a great and very popular track not to be missed.
I couldn't be happier about my choice and already told Dani that from now on any time I'm travelling to California, I will always check if the apartment is available to enjoy a few more days in this fantastic apartment.
On a picture and description apartments look like a part of the house. But in a real life it's an underground floor of the house. So, always, then house owners or their dog walking, you are listening it.
Often parties inside a house owners may be a problem - a lot of quests do a noise after 10pm until an unknown time.
House owner's at first look very friendly, but we suggest documented all discussion with them include photo of apartments before start rent and before leaving. We paid extra 250$ for cleaning service while we stay there. But after leaving apartments they open dispute about paid extra 350$ for a nothing.
It is unfortunate that you did not realize that our guest apartment is in our basement below our family room. It is very clearly stated in our listing as is our dog. The cleaning fee you paid is standard for all guests. You did not pay an extra fee. Our check out procedures are very clear and were not followed. You made no mention of any of your complaints until a dispute was opened to collect against your security deposit for the damage you left and the filthy condition you left the apartment, including more than five bags of garbage, dirty dishes everywhere and pen marks from your son on our cushions. Your complaints did not surface until I filed the dispute and would have gladly helped to rectify the situation during your stay. Please be in touch about collecting the large items we graciously agreed to store for you during your trip to Mexico.
Our second stay at this apartment and we loved it. As mentioned in our previous review, this is a really comfortable apartment finished to a high standard. Everything you might need is there. Dani and her family are very friendly and offer useful tips and suggestions. Hope to visit again someday!
I spent 10 weeks at Dani's gorgeous and inviting home this summer while interning in Silicon Valley. Coming home every day felt like entering a vacation home, I loved every second of it! The best part of the house was the location to downtown Los Gatos (a town WORTH visiting if you have the chance). I could walk down the hill and be in town within 5 minutes. Such a lovely area and so many great shops and restaurants. Dani and her family were such a joy to live with. They made sure to give me the privacy that was appropriate but made an effort to make me feel at home! I can't say enough great things about this property. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay in a great location!
The apartment was perfect. We loved staying here. It was clean, spacious and offered everything we needed. Dani and her family are great hosts. The location was great, too. It is in walking distance to downtown Los Gatos and the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Would love coming back and highly recommend staying here. We had a fantastic time.
