The view along the coastline is quite good. You can see the reef, the stretch of white sand on a secret beach.
From the beginning to the end it was a perfect time in Uluwatu. Althought we never met Jing and Wayana in person (they wrote us a letter with places in the area which they recommend), the staff from Uluwatu cottages was very friendly and helpful. They helped us organising our trip to the Gilis and drivers to the next beaches or the Uluwatu Temple. The cottages are very nice and got cleaned up every day. The highlight was the pool with the fantastic view at the ocean. We would always recommend this place to our friends and would like come back to the Uluwatu Cottages anytime.
We enjoyed our 2 nights at Uluwatu Cottages and would stay here again! Close to surf at Uluwatu and Padang-Padang beaches. Hiring a scooter with board racks at reception was very convenient. Breakfast included was simple but good. Room was basic but clean. No view from our room but great view over the cliff from the pool. No pool towels supplied. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Thanks Wayana for the map and tips!
Great place, nice people. Good breakfast, clean rooms. Good location. You'll want a scooter to get around. They made it very easy to hire one. No paperwork.
Another great stay at the Uluwatu Cottages! Jing and Wayana are always so helpful and communicative. The staff at the cottages are amazing, they absolutely go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and satisfied.
A lovely and quiet little hotel on a cliff. It's just a few bungalows around a nice pool area, so it feels very exclusive and quiet. The bungalows are basic but completely adequate, comfortable and clean. The staff are fantastic, friendly and accommodating.
The only drawbacks is that its location is quite out of the way, so be prepared to have to hire a driver to go anywhere. Also, while we were there, construction of a few more bungalows was going on so that disrupted the quiet in the day, but that can't be helped. I hope Jing and Wayana don't built too many more bungalows as the small, exclusive feel of the hotel is really special! Overall, a great experience.
Thanks Rachel for your beautiful review. We enjoyed having you here as our guest. The location is a good fit for guests looking for a quiet place to relax. Construction should be finished by April for the new temple and bungalows. So we peace will be restored. =)
The Uluwatu Cottages were amazing. Very clean and very beautiful view! Highly recommend!
Uluwatu Cottages saved our Bali trip. We were unhappy with the location of the place we were staying and wanted to be closer to the beach. Wayana saved the day by accepting a last minute reservation request. We could see the ocean when we opened our door, and the pool was a luxurious amenity. A simple walk down the road and you can find the famous surf spot, Uluwatu, along with shops and many places to eat good local food.
Wayana recommended many places for us to eat and shop, as well as the best ways to get around. She was helpful and pleasant. Everyone at the cottages was so friendly! We especially felt welcomed by the man working the front desk when we arrived.
Would stay again, no doubt.

About the Host, Jing And Wayana
Bali-fornia: Jing is from California and Wayana is from Bali. Our family loves travel, our island, and our doors are open to fun-loving travellers.
Hi there. I worked at Airbnb for Indonesia market development. I host professionally on Airbnb now and have a hospitality management business.
I studied at Berkeley and came out to the real world with an engineering degree in the dot-com crash of 2000. I worked in a nuclear physics lab, wrote C++ code, and then I took off to travel the world for two years, across Asia and Latin America. When I came to Bali, I stopped traveling. Bali was my new home. I met the perfect girl, she was Balinese and very pretty. I took her to dinner and missed my flight. I ended up staying on the island.

Jing and I have been married since 2007 and we have a young daughter Eka. Just ask and we'll be happy to take you to see hidden beaches, underground parties and off-the-beaten path things to see/do in Bali. We hope you'll share a few interesting tid-bits about yourselves as well.
Our favourite thing about hosting is getting the feeling of traveling without leaving Bali. Getting to experience a guest's culture and background is something we enjoy a lot. We make a point to meet each guest and get to know them a bit. Each guest is different and unique, we try 'feel' what you're in the mood for and go from there.
