The cabin is at the bottom of a "U", which means there is little traffic. Walking the neighborhood is wonderful and the best trail along Alder Creek is right below the cabin.
Most folks have cars. Taxi service is about $1/mile.
Enterprise and Hertz provide rental cars in Truckee.
Bike paths are along busy roads and mountain biking is permitted on the trails.

SHORT TERM RENTAL AGREEMENT
This Short Term Rental Agreement (the “Agreement”) is made by and between Glenn Borchardt (“Homeowner”) and (“Guest”) as of the date last set forth on the signature page of this Agreement. For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is acknowledged, the parties hereby agree as follows:

The property is furnished and includes all common appliances, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, linens, towels, etc. Bikes and sleds may be used at your own risk.
2.Rental Party: The rental party shall consist of Guest and the following persons:
3.Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 18 persons.
4. Minimum Stay: This property requires a 2-night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than 2 nights, the guest will be charged the 2-night rate.
5. Rental Rules: Guest agrees to abide by the Rental Rules attached as Exhibit A at all times while at the property and shall cause all members of the rental party and anyone else Guest permits on the property to abide by the following rules at all times while at the property.
6. Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. Homeowner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
7. Security Deposit and Cleaning Fees
The security deposit shall be refunded within 60 days of the Checkout Date provided no deductions are made due to:
i.damage to the property or furnishings;
ii.dirt or other mess requiring excessive cleaning; or
iii.any other cost incurred by Homeowner due to Guest’s stay or failure to lock doors and windows during checkout.
iv.The cleaning fee is non-refundable and applied toward the rental fees. (If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon Check-in, Guest shall inform Homeowner immediately by cal(phone number hidden) or 530-KODODSC.)
8. Cancellation Policy: If Guests wish to cancel their reservation, the deposit will be refunded as follows:
100% if cancelled 30 days prior to the Check-in Date
50% if cancelled 14 days prior to the Check-in Date
9. Insurance: We encourage all renters to purchase traveler insurance. Refunds only will be made for nights missed because of road closures of more than 8 hours.

2.People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.
3.Quiet hours in Tahoe Donner are 10 pm to 6 am. If you disturb the neighbors too much during those hours, you might receive a BIG fine.
4.Donner Ski Cabin is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises.
5.Keep the property and all furnishings in good order.
6.Only use appliances for their intended uses.
7.Pets are NOT allowed.
8.Parking: Parking is limited to 9 vehicle(s). Vehicles are to be parked in the garage and in the driveway only. Parking on the road is not permitted during winter. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. The two guest passes and the two garage door remotes must be returned to the north wall of the garage. The charge for missing remotes is $100 each.
9.Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the cabin.
10.Hot Tub: No children under the age of 2 years are permitted in the hot tub at any time. Children younger than 12 years must have adult supervision. When using the hot tub, remember there is a certain health risk associated with this facility. Use at your own risk. On arrival, check the bromine floater to make sure that it contains 2 tablets (stored below the kitchen sink). All guests should take showers before using the hot tub. At the end of the day, please add 1 heaping tablespoon of chlorine shock and turn on the jets. Remember when not using the hot tub, leave cover on so hot tub will stay warm.
11.Fireplace: The downstairs fireplace is propane gas controlled by the thermostat on the south wall of the den. The upstairs fireplace is wood-fired. Please follow the lighting instructions and be sure to close the two vents when you check out. Put ashes in the metal container for disposal by the homeowner. Please do not place any combustible materials on top of or near the fireplaces
12.Sewer: The cabin is on the city sewer system. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the system, you could be charged damages of up to $400.
13.Storms: No refunds will be given for nights missed due to storms unless the roads are officially declared impassable to 4-wheel drive vehicles for more than 8 hours.

The place was awesome and met the requirement of a big group.
We could sleep 20 people and enjoyed our tahoe trip.
The cabin was mostly great. It was in a secluded area, and close enough to groceries and resorts. This is only good for a large group if you don't mind sleeping on provided single cots, and beds. The amount that are allowed to stay is due to the added cots, and futons that double as couches and beds. The temperature during the summer was hot and we could not change it modern thermometer.
That being said, for a large group that just needs a place to stay and doesn't care about being in close quarters with others, this was a fine place. There were two fridges, and ample bathrooms. Glenn was easy to deal with and accommodating.
Huge cabin with all the amenities you need. Everybody in our group (16 of us) had a place to sleep and then some. We snowboarded at Squaw and Northstar which were only 30 minutes away, and a quick drive back to recuperation in the hot tub after a day on the slopes.
Glenn was a great host and respond quickly to my emails.
Will book again when I have another big group.

I live with my wife in Oakland by way of San Francisco, Denver, Oregon, and Wisconsin. I am a double diamond skier with a season pass at Squaw and a Core Pass at Sugar Bowl.
I have 50 years of theoretical, experimental, and observational experience as a scientist especially interested in scientific philosophy. Although I have produced over 320 scientific reports, including journal articles, chapters, books, and computer programs, the best by far is my book, "The Scientific Worldview: Beyond Newton and Einstein" (Understanding the Universal Mechanism of Evolution)" (iUniverse, 2007). It poses the ultimate challenge to the current, wildly popular, though absurd claim that the universe is finite and that it exploded out of nothing. The book is completely logical from beginning to end in support of an infinite universe and a scientific philosophical approach that will replace the Big Bang Theory and the "systems philosophy" supporting it. The challenge for me is to get readers intelligent enough and educated enough to handle the ideas presented and to understand the book's great significance. The paradigm that I propose is antithetical to conventional physics and astronomy and cannot be taken seriously by those who hold the idealism of mathematics to be the true test of reality.
