Michelle is bright and perky and loves where she lives and what she does. The room could not have been more perfect and was exactly as described. A beautiful view, fresh breeze and steps from the ocean. Everything one needs for a quiet stay. The small kitchenette and the bed and bath were very comfortable. A few days is not enough to take in where you are. Stay a month!
I had an amazing time in cancun! This was my first airbnb experience and boy am I grateful. Being a flight attendant, I fly standby so there was no guaranteed time of arrival. I kept Michelle updated and informed her of my situation. Luckily there was no issue getting to Mexico. (We won't speak of getting home..*cough cough* winter storm.. *cough*)
We took a shuttle to the property which was $17/person and luckily we were the very first stop on the hotel island so the ride may have been a little less than 10 mins.
We arrived around 4pm-ish...we arrived around 230...customs and such held us up a bit then you may speak with a few salesmen while waiting for your transportation.
The property was beautiful. Had a Spanish architecture feel to it (duh it's Mexico right? Lol) My mother and I stayed in the king bed ocean/pool view room. There was plenty of space for us each. We only spent 2 days in Mexico, a quick escape from the Midwest winter. The room was nice and clean. There was a balcony which we only used to take picture of the Oceanview. But still nice to look out to view the beautiful blue waters.
The beach is very peaceful and clean. The entrance into the water from the sand is rock-free.
I tried my best not to bother Michelle much. She was always available when I needed her. And I enjoyed my stay in her condo.
Her voice is such a delight to hear. And she was very welcoming. I will be staying again once I'm able to make another getaway.
We traveled with our two year old to Michelle's. We stayed in two separate units - one with two beds and one with a King (this unit). We were more than happy with the space. I would suggest trying to bring some food staples with you (tea, coffee and filters) - we had some but had missed these. Michelle was accommodating and available for any questions we had and responded very quickly through email.
Also, ensure you have pesos so that you can easily get on the bus your first day to go do a proper grocery store or restaurant - the condo is a bit isolated compared to the majority of hotels.
1. We have coffee, tea and filters available upon request
2. Cancun is one thin long 22 km line if hotels in one skinny row with restaurants and malls spread throughout so every one of us is a bit isolated unless we are directly in front of a mall and paying $500 per night :)
Perfect little apartment on the beach with a pool and everything you could want for a stay. Michelle was super friendly. Recommended!
My wife and I came to Cancun for a quiet getaway and Michelle's condo was just what we needed. The place was exactly as described in the listing and offered a beautiful turquoise Carribean vista and grackle songs with the sun rise each morning. The Solymar is on the Southern and more quiet end of the Hotel Zone, so dining, shopping and clubs are a good walk or bus ride away, but that was good for us since we were not looking for that kind of experience, we were happier to find a nice running path a bit South on Kukulkan that we could easily reach from the room.
Michelle was very welcoming when we arrived and offered good input and cheer. The room was clean and the maid came by every other day to spruce up and replace towels
The condo in Solymar was perfect for our getaway. We didnt spend much time on the property, but the view from our room was beautiful and exactly as pictured.
We had Betty pick us up from the airport and also took us to the grocery store in town. We got food for a couple of meals to save money and the kitchen was really nice to have. A cleaning person a came twice during our 6 day stay, and that was perfect enough.
Michelle and Betty were super nice ladies. I definitely recommend staying in one of Michelle's units if you're in Cancun.
This unit 3604 we are staying at has beautiful view, second from the top floor, it is small but cozy. Unit is very clean, and it has a small kitchen where you can boil water or do some simple cooking.
location is along the strip where there are plenty of buses and taxi. It takes about 30-40 min to reach downtown by bus.
Michelle is a very nice host, she will recommend you where to go and where to get what as you need.
Unit does not have Wifi, you have to go to lobby for it. That is about the only thing that's inconvenient.
As described, the view from our room was fabulous. We spent a lot of time on our little balcony overlooking the ocean. It is a great place to relax in a quiet part of the hotel zone. Thank you Michelle & Peter!
Michelle is super friendly and nice. Not only that, but she has access to a ton of different apt's in the Solemar complex - many of which have internet in the rooms themselves. And *every* apt comes w an amazing view of the ocean. Solemar itself is pretty nice - It's about a 15 bus ride from the hotel zone (where all the clubs and action are) - so keep that in mind if you're going to Cancun to party. But if you're going to Cancun for R & R, Solemar, for the price, is about as good as you're gonna find :) Would def stay there again.
This was our first stay in Cancun. Michelle's assistant, Betty, made us feel welcome right from the start, meeting us promptly at the bus station (we traveled to Cancun by bus from Merida), driving us to Solymar, showing us some of the sights and taking us to the airport for our return flight -- all for much less of a price than the taxis would have charged. The view from our third-floor suite was unbelievable and was easily the highlight of our stay. We were just steps away from the incredible turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. My wife, who is an avid swimmer, made good use of Solymar's large pool. The king-size bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and the steady howl of the wind and the crashing surf made it easy to sleep. The bathroom and shower were not the most modern but were clean and easy to use. If there was one downside, it would be that the halls of the hotel complex seemed to form a maze. It took us a day or so to orient ourselves. But this is a minor point. We found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. There are no stores or restaurants within easy walking distance from Solymar, but the city buses run at least every 10 minutes in both directions along the strip.
