The Space

Welcome to Portland!

I have a 2 bedroom apartment and would love to share my spare bedroom with you. The room is very basic- it primarily works as my craft room but there is a double bed. Shared bathroom and kitchen facility available.

The location is excellent, it's walking distance to public transportation (bus which will get you to light rail and Max) and an easy bike (or even walk) to downtown Portland and the Hawthorne district. The neighborhood is quiet and very safe.

For visitors with a car, there is plenty of street parking (there is a small parking lot in front of the complex, but it is for tenants only).

Coin operated washer and dryer is downstairs in the basement. 1 load will cost about $3.00 in quarters. There is no laundry detergent, but if you ask nicely, I will share mine!

There are a number of restaurants very close including:
East Burn, Ole Ole, Old Wive's Tales, The Screen Door
In addition there are a number of coffee shops close by.

My place is my home- it's colorful and light. I consider it a place to go to relax and recuperate from the day. As it is my home, it is lived in and not always in *perfect* condition. But it is clean and you will have complete privacy.

I do have a cat, her name is Bella and she is indoors only. She is very friendly.

I work Monday-Friday 8-5, so if you will need the shower in the morning, we can coordinate times. I spend my evenings either out with friends or relaxing with some "me" time at home watching tv and reading books. I enjoy dancing (tango, swing, blues, etc). and board games. I'm pretty low key, not much of a night person.

Guest Access

Guests have access to everything in the apartment except my bedroom. This includes kitchen, coin operated washer and dryer, and of course, the bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

I interact a different amount depending on my guests. Some guests I almost never see, but I'll almost always visit with guests when we're both home. I have been known to share my baked goods with my guests as well!

The Neighborhood

I love that my neighborhood is quiet, but also very close to the vibrant PDX social life, restaurants, and parks.

Getting around

I am close to the bus and not far from the Max, you can check out Portland's public transit (email hidden).

  • Jessica is a wonderfully generous host, who has made my transition for a summer-long stay in Portland so much easier. She is communicative, thoughtful, and an all-around great apartment-mate. I wholly recommend a stay with her. As for the space: the location is well suited if you need to commute downtown, and I really enjoyed getting to know the SE area and a lot of the fantastic food spots here! The space is comfortable, and I never lacked any amenities. Wonderful stay!

  • I had a great experience staying with Jessica for two nights. She was very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. The room was clean and comfortable, and in a great location - quiet, but not far from shops and restaurants. The bus network was also easy to access, and I was able to park my car for free right out front. Thank you, Jessica!

  • I only stayed a few nights, but the place was clean and comfortable and it really is in a phenomenal location - lots of great places to walk to!

More important than the place: Jessica was a most excellent host! She was happy to hang out and chat with me while during my down time and I feel like I really made a friend during my travels. She was a quick with restaurant/cafe suggestions, very knowledgable about the area, and exceptionally easy to get along with. If you're heading to Portland, I would highly recommend staying with Jessica.

  • Great host, very accommodating especially with my changes in check-in time, and overall just a good experience. If I'm ever in need of an Airbnb, this is one place that I would return to and even recommend to friends. I was in the city for business and needed a peaceful place to just rest and shower after all-day meetings, and this place was a perfect for that. In addition, I was able to walk a few blocks to the nearest bus stop which got me to my meetings (10-minute bus ride) into downtown Portland. A bonus is that there were many Zipcars to rent within walking distance (I needed one for my day-trip to Corvallis). The neighborhood itself is lovely as well, and I felt safe and at peace. It was also nice to see so many cyclists who commute to work.

  • Jessica hosted us for a few days while we were visiting Portland, exploring the town. She was a great host, lovely to talk to, and helpful with recommendations for places to visit / eat at. We were also able to freely do our own thing, coming and going flexibly. Would definitely recommend staying at her place!

  • This place is in a great location! Easy access to the west side via Burnside Bridge but there's plenty to do in the east side. Easy access to famous and not so famous restaurants, great vintage clothing shops, the Whole 9 Yards a fabric shop, and more coffee shops than I could visit in a lifetime!

  • I highly recommend Jessica's place in SE Portland! The neighborhood is excellent, easily walkable to lots of interesting parks, cafes, etc. in the (I think) trendy southeast. The bedroom is very sunny with pretty trees and a nice breeze if you open the window. Jessica was extremely easy to communicate with and very generous with sharing her kitchen and space. She also has a great stash of useful Portland maps and guides. Definitely use her "hike the Columbia River Gorge" guidebook if you have time.

  • I stayed three nights at Jessica's place as part of a conference trip. Her apartment is cozy and comfortable, and its location very convenient for getting on a bus to downtown. Jessica is very friendly and welcoming. I strongly recommend her place.
