  • This is my first AirBnB stay, and overall it went very well!

The instructions that Fendy sent re: how to get to his place was detailed, and I had no problems getting there from the airport via a taxi.

Having said that, his place is in the suburbs, and if it's your first time to Singapore, taking a taxi there the first time would be what I recommend in order to get a 'lay of the land'. I'm glad I did this, as it helped to give me a general orientation of the neighbourhood, which made it easier thereafter when I took public transportation to get around Singapore. The taxis here are very clean, the cab drivers are polite and helpful, and not very expensive either.

The sofabed is as advertised, and it looks just as it does in the pictures. During my stay there, it was very quiet as Fendy was out a fair bit as was the other person staying there; definitely no trouble sleeping at night!

Fendy is a very laid back and hospitable host, and very helpful. He even helped to book a cab for me during my 2nd stay there a couple of weeks later, for when I needed to go to the airport. And he gave me some great advice and recommendations re: places to see and visit not only in Singapore, but the other places (Malaysia and Indonesia) which I visited too during my vacation.

It's a 15min walk from the apartment building to the Hougang MRT station. Initially, it seemed quite far, but I took it in stride and soon found that it was a great way to see local Singaporean life and activity. The route took me through the HDB buildings in the neighbourhood; I saw a wedding party being held on the ground floor of one of them, a Christmas block party another time, families relaxing in a nearby park in the evening when temps were much cooler, people running for cover when the skies opened up and released a torrential downpour.

Once at the MRT station though, it was easy peasy, lemon squeezy to get to where ever I wanted to go in Singapore. The public transit here is second to none! It takes approx 25 - 30 min to get to downtown Singapore (I went to Chinatown a lot, the Maxwell Hawker Centre nearby is a great place to go for cheap and tasty eats!)

All of this greatly enhanced my experience in Singapore as a tourist, in addition to visiting the usual tourist attractions. If this 'slice of life' is what you desire too, you will enjoy staying at Fendy's place!

  • Staying at Fendy's place is very comfortable, although my flight was delayed for two times and when I approached his house is close to midnight. Fendy still be awake and wait for me for the door, very nice host! hope one day I will visit this lovely city again.

  • Fendy was a great host! I had to get a place to stay at the very last minute, and he was able to accommodate me at the eleventh hour (and he was kind enough to meet me at the bus stop at quite a late hour!)

It may be just a sofa bed, but it’s a very comfy one! :)

    November 2013
  • I really enjoyed my stay here. Everything is as described and Fendi is a very polite and helpful host. I can fully recommend this place.

    November 2013
  • Fendy was a wonderful and gracious host. Easy to communicate with and enjoyed our brief conversations. The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and in a nice quiet area. It's a little bit of a walk to the MRT, but you cannot beat the price! I would stay here again and would recommend Fendy to others.

I'd consider myself open minded, friendly, chatty yet respect other privacy. Travels, languages, design, photography, architecture, and art/performances are few of many interests that I have. ha ha and I'm a tech junkie too! When I travels, I always do it like the locals :) If I were your host, you'd say I'm a great host! I would help you go around just like what the local do. Try the local food, go to the local scene, and many local stuffs while not forgetting the tourist spots! If I were your guest, I'd say I'm a well behaved guest. As I said earlier, I always want to be like a local when I travels, so that's that :) 我会说中文, Ich spreche Deutsch, Ik spreek Nederlands, bisa ngomong indo,
