We rented a room with double bed in an apartment with three rooms on the Red River, one of the most charming neighborhoods of Salvador. In the apartment live two musicians brothers of 28 and 29 years. The apartment is 300m from the beach.
I rent a room with a double bed in the apartment I live with my brother.
The apartment is large, furnished, renovated and very ventilated.
We are located on the Red River, the city's most bohemian neighborhood and is 5 min from the beach (walking).
A neighborhood with many bars and nightclubs and the most famous of acarajés Salvador, acarajé of Dinda.
It's a neighborhood very central and easily accessible public transport to anywhere in the city.
The apartment is a few minutes from the main sights of the city, as Farol da Barra and Barra Beach, less than 15 minutes, Pelourinho, Lacerda Elevator, about 30 minutes by bus from the apartment.
Well it was a place to sleep. Very messy though. Not a big deal if you're the hippie type but I tend to enjoy things a bit tidier.
The reservation was canceled 11 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I have travled to 25 countries over the past 18 years and this was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had. When I arrived to the apartment on the Saturday night, an hour after my flight got in, Johanna' s brother who was supposed to let me in at the apartment was not there. I never received any message from Johanna or her brother that there was a reason that he wasn't there even though she wrote me that someone would be home. Luckily the girl who was renting Johanna' s room was exiting the building and let me in but had no idea I was coming so I didnt even get a key. Johanna' s brother finally arrived after I had been there for an hour. The kitchen was an absolute mess for the 3 days that I stayed there as there were always dirty dishes in the sink and stove so I was not able to use the kitchen at all. The room I stayed in did not have clean sheets or a clean towel for me. Johanna' s brother was very reluctant to even give me the WiFi password which had a horrible connection anyway so I ended up having to use the WiFi at a hotel nearby. Her brother did not help me at all with settling in. There was no lock on the bedroom door and Johanna' s brother had friends over a lot. His friend's were even there when he was not home which made me feel very unsecure about me belongings in the apartment. When he arrived late on the Saturday that I arrived, he had a group of friends with him and they started smoking marijuana in the apartment. The whole time I was there, I couldn't help thinking that this apartment is not suitable for the Airbnb website. I stayed at hostels after that horrible experience and now am staying at another apartment on Airbnb that is incredibly nice.
Joana and a brother are really nice, it was a pleasure to be in there home. The place is clean, the give us some advice to go out..
As fate would have it, I misread my return date of travel to New York hence I needed 2 days of lodging immediately!. And as luck will lead me, I found 2 listings of which one was Joana s!
Although I was only able to spend little time with Joanna when she made breakfast!
Her brother Paulo took me around from one cool spot to another. I was finally introduced to the lively and exciting life of Salvador with bands and theirs music, and friends who played and entertained us all night! Looking forward to going back. Highly recommended!
My time in this apartment was absolutely great. I enjoyed a lot to spend time with this wonderful people living there. The room is nice and you have a lot of space for your clothes. The apartment is really good, clean and just 3 minutes from the beach, bus stops and the supermarket. Also the nightlife of Rio Vermelho you can easily reach by feet. But you have a lot of really good Live-music in your apartment. It´s great to feel the beauty and life of Salvador by hearing the sound of the drums and the brasilian songs. Staying in this wonderful place is more than renting a room, for me it was finding new friends. I could taking part in their life and this directly when i arrived. Joana, Paulo and Silas are unbelievable and i never want to stay in another place in Salvador again.
Me chamo Joana, sou produtora cultural.
