Our beautiful room with private bathroom in an 1875 Victorian house is perfectly situated for visits to Cambridge. We're in an vibrant neighborhood near Harvard University, with restaurants, museums, subway, and other sights just a short walk away.

The space

**Please send me a message telling me a bit about yourself and what brings you to Cambridge before booking a reservation. Thank you.**

**We do not discriminate.**

We invite you to stay at our lovely home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We are ideally located for visits to Harvard University and Lesley University, which are both minutes away by foot from our home. We are also well-located for visits to Harvard Square (twelve minutes away by foot) and MIT (two subway stops away). We are also close to Porter Square, Davis Square, and Central Square.

We have one room available for guests, which is large and bright with a queen-sized bed, bay windows, and a private bathroom. A stay with us includes a breakfast of juice, cold cereal or hot oatmeal, and coffee or tea, all available in your room.

We wish to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Our amenities include:

- Private, newly renovated bathroom.
- Self-serve breakfast in your room.
- Compact refrigerator, microwave, and coffee
maker in your room.
- Allergy-free bedding.
- Free wireless internet access in your room.
- Wall-mounted HDTV cable television.
- Hair dryer in your room.
- Ceiling fan and air conditioning for the warm
- Off-street parking for an additional $5/day.
- Hertz Car Rental and Zipcar locations within
walking distance.
- Wonderful restaurants, stores, movies
museums and activities all within walking
- Affordable rate.

This room is on the second floor, right by the top of the stairs near the front door. This is not a set-up where you will be dining in our kitchen or sharing the house. The room is fully self-contained, with all the amenities detailed above.

Children are welcome. Also, we have two cats, but they are generally kept out of the guest room (out of respect for our guests who may have allergies).

Sacramento Street, where our home is located, is a wonderful street in Cambridge. It is in the desirable Agassiz-Baldwin neighborhood, which is filled with many beautiful turn-of-the-century homes. Right off Massachusetts Avenue, and halfway between Harvard and Porter Squares (about a 12-minute walk to each), Sacramento Street is near many restaurants and stores, and the location of the Agassiz-Baldwin Community Center, the Chandler Art Gallery, the Maud Morgan Visual Arts Center, and the Sacramento Street Community Garden.

Our home is ideally located, minutes away by foot from Harvard University, Harvard Law School, Harvard Divinity School, Lesley University, and a short ride to MIT or Tufts. We are also just a 12-minute walk to the T stations at Harvard or Porter Squares.

The room is available for varying rates on weekdays and weekends for single occupancy. Additional occupants are $15 each. There is also a cleaning fee of $30 per reservation.

Our maximum occupancy is two people, with the exception of family groups. For family groups, we have a queen-sized inflatable Aerobed available which will allow up to four people total to sleep in the room.

We have off-street parking available for a cost of $5/night. This is not included in the Airbnb fee, and if you choose to use this, you can pay me cash for it at the time of your stay.

Check-out is by 12 noon, but depending on the time the next guest is arriving this check-out time may be flexible. Also, if you want leave your bags at our home past check-out time, we're happy to have you do that until you're ready to pick them up.

Guest access

Guests have access to the guest room and adjoining private bathroom, and in nice weather are welcome to sit in our back yard, where you can still get wi-fi. There is no kitchen access, but a microwave can be added to the room upon request.

Interaction with guests

We love meeting our guests! We've met wonderful people from all over the world. But, after you "check-in," how much you interact with us will be up to you. We lead busy lives and aren't always home. The way to the guest room is quick from the front door, and you won't always see us when you come in or leave. We love to get to know our guests, but it's not unusual to have people stay who meet us at "check-in" and who we then see just see in passing thereafter.

The room at Kristin's place was as shown, a comfortable, bright room with modern bathroom. Kristin was extremely gracious allowing us privacy or conversation as desired. Her house is located in a pleasant neighborhood adjacent to Lesley Univ, but also very close to Harvard. The walk to places we needed to go (Harvard, Harvard Square, the T) was always pleasant through a family-friendly neighborhood and university properties. Nearby are coffee shops, a grocery store, laundromat, restaurants, T stations, and more.

Comfortable bed and well equipped connecting bath. Small frig in the room and coffee maker/cups/plates/flatware in cupboards. Street parking pass is available, but it will cost $5 extra per night. On hot days the window A/C does not provide adequate cooling. The stairway to the second floor is steep and narrow and poorly illuminated, and the upstairs hallway has piles of books along the side. We had no access to any other parts of the home. The sidewalk leading to the front steps is unsaved dirt path.

Response from Kristin:
Meredith, it was a pleasure to have you and Seamus with us for both your stays! Thank you for your feedback on the air conditioner -- you are the first guest to have given us that feedback (and the first ones to use the air conditioner this season), and so we've now bought and installed a new air conditioner in the room. I'm sorry if it was too warm for you when you were here. As you know, there's a ceiling fan in the room as well, but on our hot Cambridge summer days an air conditioner is really a necessity. The street parking pass is $5/night, as indicated in our listing. Airbnb doesn't collect that money when they make the reservation, so payment must be made directly to me for that. There is always ample parking on our street. Our house was built in 1875, with extremely 11-foot ceilings downstairs, so the stairway is indeed narrow and long. The hall lighting is actually quite bright, although I do dim the downstairs hall lights in the evening. If the stairs were poorly illuminated, the upstairs hall light must have been turned off, and I apologize for that. We are currently beginning a number of renovations in the house and yard. The front yard is being renovated this summer (with a new driveway and walkway and plantings installed), and a fireplace and built-in bookshelves (hence the piles of books on the side of the hall now) are being put in one of our downstairs rooms. Our front walkway was taken out last fall, but hopefully the new one will go in soon and replace the grass. I hope the listing does make clear that this is a self-contained room. We don't provide kitchen or laundry access, but there's a small refrigerator, coffee pot, and tea kettle in the room, and a microwave upon request. There's a laundromat around the corner that is famous from being a scene in the movie, Love Story. We live in an area with lots of restaurants and stores, and are happy to make all sorts of recommendations as far as where to find things. I'm glad you were comfortable in the room. It was good having you and Seamus as our guests.

It was very well located - in a quiet lane but close to Harvard square and Mass Ave. The room was a good size and furnished tastefully. On the first floor of the house but still very private.Kristin was very helpful and accessible.

Kristin was super flexible, and communication was always easy and quick. Room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable--the kind of quality firm mattress one rarely gets in an airbnb. We also had complete privacy in our room upstairs. Location of house was also incredibly convenient for visiting our daughter. It was a real pleasure staying here--and would definitely stay here again.

My second stay: gorgeous classic Victorian room with newly updated bathroom in a comfortable family home a 10 minute walk from Harvard. Grocery and coffee shops even closer. Quiet at night in a classic old Cambridge neighborhood. You get to the suite via staircase within the house, but once in the room you feel like you're in your own private space. Kristin the host is gracious and flexible. Also liked ability to rent her street parking pass for an extra $5/ night. Very convenient to be able to take the car into Boston (though no reason to move it for Harvard Square, and even for Boston public transportation is close at hand).

I'm a professional in the health care field. Originally from Connecticut, I lived in New York City for a number of years, working in publishing and video marketing, before going to graduate school in psychology in Colorado and then moving to Cambridge. I am very happy here and highly recommend it! Cambridge is an amazing small city, with an interesting and diverse population. There are always fun and interesting things to do here, including numerous cultural opportunities both here and in nearby Boston.

I've been renting this room out in our home for two years, though I just recently listed it with AirBnB. My family and I have greatly enjoyed meeting many interesting people from all around the United States and the world.
