Lovely, Private Room in West Chelsea steps from some of the most desirable sights in Manhattan! The private bedroom is in an apartment with a lovely kitchen and bathroom (shared). The bed is a loft-bed with a ladder up to it. The High Line Park, one of the trendiest places to "people watch" is within sight; the Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex is a block away, and Chelsea, one of the most desirable places to visit in Manhattan, is everywhere to enjoy. The room has wireless High-Speed Internet access (as well as a printer), and there's a desk table where one can spread out and do one's paperwork while on vacation. The closet has space for your clothes. There’s no laundry on-site, but there are plenty of Laundromats 1 block away. There's a post office, grocery, several restaurants and more than one deli within one block's distance. And of course, you find yourself smack in the middle of the Contemporary Art Gallery District of New York City. There's no cable TV, but there's a DVD player and VCR on the TV that's mounted in the room. Come stay in one of the trendiest and most interesting corners of the world!
We stayed for three days in Stark's apartment in the nice neighborhood of Chelsea, NYC.
In my eyes Stark is a model for hosting in ones home: he is friendly, talkative and helpful in one hand and can give space and privacy on the other hand.
Stark helped us allot to find our way in the city, and in general it was interesting to talk with him.
The apartment is small but perfectly organized for hosting, with all the needed facilities and much more than we expected.
If you need an accommodation in NYC, reserve in advanced since Stark's place is filling up fast.
Stark is a gracious and attentive host who is very interested in his guests comfort. He was very flexible on my arrival time and doesn't enforce a curfew. Who would in New York City!? The snack basket at my arrival and cup of coffee on my departure were very much appreciated. This was my first time taking part in AirBnB and was a very nice introduction.
Stark is a very considerate host. Due to a snowstorm and flight cancellations, my arrival into the city was delayed a day but Stark did not charge me for the night I missed. He had juice and pop available in the fridge as well as bagels and cream cheese for breakfast. He also had a bowl of fruit and chocolate for snacking. The place is small, but laid out well, and since I had the private bedroom, it was fine. Apartment is on the 2nd floor, so not many stairs! Apartment is in a good location - High Line is across the street, and the Chelsea galleries are nearby (Gagosian is only a block away). The subway was two blocks away. I would stay here again.
I enjoyed a very pleasant stay in Stark's apartment for the 1st 5 days of my stay in the city which I was moving to for work.
Stark is very gracious host, always on hand to answer any questions I had, providing everything you need to be able to settle in quickly and comfortably (towels, shampoo, fruit, chocolate, bagels...the list goes on!).
I must say I was rarely in the apartment as I was doing an awful lot of apartment hunting of my own, however I really grew to enjoy the area around the place. It's a block from Chelsea Pier, a stone through from the high line, and only a few blocks west of the flat iron district (one of my favourite parts of the city).
I would recommend staying with Stark to anybody in a heartbeat! Go ahead, you won't regret it!
oh - by the way...the mattress is amazing!
Stark is an amazing host who has thought of every last detail. Above and beyond providing towels there was fruit, flowers, shampoo and chocolate! What more could a girl ask for? :-)!!. The appartment is amazingly unusual and unique and is a fab location. I would without hesitation stay here again.
I don't need to talk about "mythical" Chelsea, where you can easily find any kind of good restaurants, cute coffee place and beautiful shops beside hot clubs and sex-shops. Anyway, my feeling is that nowadays you can more easily spend there a quiet, bourgeois life than a transgressive or alternative one.
Stark's flat is literally few steps from the High Line and the river: I spent there some freezing winter days so I only partially enjoyed this amazing location but I think it is lovely in summertime. You are also two blocks from subway C and E and just a walkable distance from the Meatpack district.
Chose Stark's flat if you want to dive in a "lived space": almost every corner is well decorated and tells its history and memories. If you look for an anonymous/minimal space to be filled up, this is not the place for you.
The room is well organized with a loft bed that makes the space below it free for your stuff. Stark will also leave you some space in the closet and some empty drawer. The room is one flight up and faces the avenue with its big window so it is a bit noisy (this is quite common in NY): if you are light sleepers, just use some earplugs. The entire flat and the room are very warm (especially the place where you sleep because of its position on top): good in winter and, if you don't like it, just open a bit the window.
I was very busy with my job around NY in the days I spent at Stark's so I couldn't really spent time chatting with him or really enjoying the flat but he was immediately prompt to my requests and answered every questions being kind and available.
Stark is a generous and attentive host and made me feel very welcome for the week I spent in his flat. He really does provide you with fresh flowers, fruit, chocolate, and breakfast on arrival. The mattress is particularly comfortable. The room is the most efficient use of space I have ever experienced, and the flat is ideally located for anyone wishing to explore NYC by day or night. Thanks for a great visit Stark!
Stark is very nice! He prepared some fruits, food, shampoo for us. And he was very helpful. The room is very clean and the bed is very very comfortable! I enjoyed the stay very much.
Stark is a warm host! Everything was very clean and the room was private. The guest bed is lofted for extra space, and there is a temperpedic mattress. Our departure flight was delayed and Stark was very accomodating with letting us have a later checkout time. Would stay again!
Stark is a top notch host. Very friendly and uber mindful of his guests.
