We are two young professionals who were introduced to AirBnB While traveling around France and Italy and loved the experience so much that we decided to become hosts once we moved back to the US. Having been on both sides of the AirBnB experience we take great efforts to make sure that people's stay with us is as comfortable, enjoyable, and exciting as possible.
If you want to stay in a charming apartment in a vibrant but safe neighborhood, meet some friendly locals, and perhaps get a million recommendations for things to eat and places to visit, come stay with us in Uptown!
The Room: You will be staying in our extra bedroom with a brand new full size bed (note: the mattress is firm but we have purchased a new pillow-top for those who prefer softer beds). You will have your own full bathroom/shower and your room opens up onto a deck facing out to our private back yard.
Ammenities: You will also have shared use of the kitchen, a nice clean bathroom, and our free washer and dryer. We provide towels, fresh linens, keys, wifi, and a couple menus from some of our favorite nearby restaurants.
Mike & Kristi: We are a couple in our early thirties who love traveling, going out to see New Orleans jazz and brass music, great food and wine, meeting new people and just enjoying life to the fullest! Mike has spent time as a bike-taxi driver in the French Quarter so he is a bit of an expert on what to see and do in New Orleans.
The Dog: We also have one very adorable hypo-allergenic dog that shares the apartment with us as well. He's a part of the family and a real character. He tends to get a bit rowdy when people first walk in, but within 10 minutes he'll just be quietly begging you to play fetch with him and his beloved "Green-Ball."
THE LOCATION: UPTOWN
We are located in Uptown, which is an fun trendy area for young professionals just one block from all the action on Magazine Street. Tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance, including Le Bon Temps Roule (great bar with pool tables and amazing live music), Tipitinas (one of the best music venues in the country), Boulangerie (amazing french bakery), Domilese's (charming family joint that serves up the best fried shrimp po-boy's in town), and Le Petite Grocery (Our favorite restaurant with incredible french influenced louisiana cuisine). The best part is that uptown is one of the safer areas in New Orleans, much safer than Mid-City, the Marigny, or the Bywater.
Car: If you will have a car, it is easy to drive anywhere in New Orleans from here and there is always free parking directly in front of the apartment.
Bikes: We have two brand-new guest bikes (with locks, drink holders, and helmets) that you can use to get around! Biking is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get around in New Orleans, and it's also one of the best ways to really get to know the city!
Bus: There are lots of bus connections from here that can get you anywhere in the city cheap and quick. We are just one block away from the Magazine Street bus and just 8 short blocks to the iconic St. Charles Street Car line. Both of which go straight into the French Quarter for only $1.25.
Cab: Its only about a $12 cab into the French quarter and a $30 cab to/from the airport.
Kristi and Mike are totally awesome!! The house is clean, nice, and inviting just like the pictures. The hosts are both gracious and hospitable... people to be admired. Their dog Barkley is a hoot as well. They have class and are very respectful of their guest. If you're looking for a place to stay in New Orleans, you might not find better hosts not to mention the location is spectacular. It is less than 15 minutes from everything you want to see in New Orleans.
Great hosts! Always willing to help! Good times!
This was me and my boyfriend's first time staying at an airbnb room and Mike and Kristi definitely made us feel very comfortable and were great hosts! As newbies we were not sure what the "rules" were and what was expected of us, but our hosts did a wonderful job helping us feel at ease. I loved staying in this room! The bed was very comfortable, the room is lovely, and the french doors in the room open up to a great New Orleans style back yard. I am also a dog person and I adored the Schubert's little Barkley (sp?). He was a sweet and fun dog! The location is also great, I am a big fan of Uptown New Orleans and the home is walking distance to all of my favorite places to eat and shop on Magazine Street. I make frequent weekend trips to New Orleans and now that I know about Mike, Kristi, and their awesome house I will definitely be staying here again in the future!
Mike and Kristi were great hosts! The room was very nice and clean. We slept three comfortably with one person on a blow up mattress. Three major perks are access to the back patio, laundry and a private bathroom. The Schuberts were very open with their space and their dog is adorable. Mike gave us many great suggestions for food and sites off the beaten path. The location is fine especially if you have a car, though you can easily walk to magazine street food and fun and the streetcar. This airbnb is a great value and it really enhanced our trip! Thanks Mike and Kristi!
I do not think we could have chosen a better host for our first Airbnb experience than Mike. He is extremely helpful and his answer was "Yes, of course" to every request we had during our stay.
Kristi & Mike's place is in a great location, it being a quiet residential neighborhood, but only two blocks away from Magazine St, with restaurants and bars within walking distance and easy access to the French Quarter and other areas of interest, either by public transportation or the provided bikes, which were great to have; you won't need a car during your stay unless you want to go out of town.
The house itself is very tastefully decorated, as you can see in the pictures, and our room and private bathroom were clean and comfortable, and we made use of the kitchen, the washing machine and even their computer at a point when I needed it. We definitely would recommend staying at Kristi & Mike's if you plan to visit New Orleans.
Great place to stay! Amazing hosts, great location. They are really close to Magazine St, which has a ton of awesome restaurants and bars, and it's definitely easy to get out and around to any part of town you want by bus, but the taxi ride wasn't too bad either. The area is slightly more residential, so it's a nice, quiet neighborhood.
Kristi and Mike have a beautiful home, and were so nice and accommodating to the three of us. The place was spacious, and they provided us with an air mattress for our third person.
I would absolutely recommend staying here.
Kristi and Mike are the best! We had an amazing time during our stay with them during Jazz Fest. Having the bikes was absolutely wonderful and enabled us to see New Orleans from a unique vantage point. Place is really close to the Bon Temps, which was amazing for Jazz Fest. Lots of great local acts perform there and it's off the path from all of the Bourbon St chaos. The living situation was really comfortable. We loved having the fire pit in the back and staying at the house was a great way to spend some downtime when we weren't at the fairgrounds. The hosts were also really nice and down to earth and offered a lot of great insights in terms of things to do locally. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially for our first time using Airbnb. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip to New Orleans. Thanks so much, Kristi and Mike.
What a perfect couple to stay with for my first ever airbnb experience. Kristi and Mike's home was clean and quiet with anazing attention to interior design. The house was located just off of magazine street giving you access to a variety of boutique shops and unique restaurants without being to far away from the tourist filled French Quarter. Not to mention the house comes equipped with easily one of the cutest dogs in the world. His owners weren't too bad either ;-)
Staying at Mike and Kristi's was an outstanding experience! This was my first AirBnB trip and I didn't really know what to expect going into it. Kristi and Mike made me a believer in AirBnB. I couldn't have been happier with our visit at Kristi and Mike's and I will definitely try to stay with them the next time I go back to New Orleans.
The neighborhood, house, and hospitality were beyond anything we could have imagined. Mike always had great recommendations of sites we should see, places we should eat (even at 1am), and best routes to take to go somewhere. There were plenty of times where I texted him while we were out of the house and he was always very quick to help.
Both the house and room were awesome, clean, and comfortable. I traveled with 2 other friends of mine and we had plenty of space to relax in the room after our days in the city. Both the bed and air mattress were very comfortable! The private bathroom was also very nice!
The location of the house was very convenient. We drove down to Kristi and Mike's and rarely touched my car again. They are very close to the public bus stop and Magazine Street, which has plenty to do. The free bikes were also very helpful!
I can't recommend Kristi and Mike's listing enough. If you are looking to plan a trip to New Orleans then this is where you need stay!
Kristi and Mike are the best host ever. They made our stay in New Orleans so wonderful. They are supernice people, always offering to help you on anything you could may need. They gave us great inside recommendations for New Orleans which made our stay very special. We almost felt like being local.
The room is very cozy and comfortable. They have a good eye for interior decoration. You couldn't find a better room in a design hotel. The Garden and porch just outside the room is stunning as well.
Also the area is very nice. Close by magazine street has some nice Restaurants and Shops - inviting for a relaxed shopping brunch dinner day. To go around with bicycles, they also have available for their guests, is the best mean of transportation for New Orleans ever. To go to french quarter it's a very nice bike ride through ether magazine street with nice shops and restaurants or around charles street with impressive plantane houses with huge gardens, super old oak trees and columns in front. Don't miss Column Hotel Bar which Mike and Kristi highly recommended - it's a 10 min bike ride and you feel set back to the period of gone with the wind.
All in all we can just highly recommend staying at their place. I could not imagine a better set up for a wonderful and unforgettable New Orleans experience
