  • I had an excellent stay at Oktavian's villa but I am admittedly very easy to please (because I live and work in a severely underdeveloped country). I was also paying a good rate for a solo traveller in a 2-bedroomed very private villa, and I had a lot of work to do on my laptop so was not so much focussed on my surroundings.
The bedroom was grand and the bathroom was big, spacious and fully-equipped. The pool is lovely too. I am not any kind of chef so the single frying pan and single large pot did not disappoint. The fridge, leaking and somewhat ramshackle, held all the fruit, cheese, crackers, chocolates and juices I needed, there is a toaster, and hot water for coffee from a dispenser machine (not very efficient however, would have preferred a kettle). With a food delivery service from Food Panda, I was set-up.
However, the whole place, especially the woodwork, cries out for some lovin' attention. It needs a good spring clean throughout and including every single surface.
4 guests staying might have had a problem with a very small dining table and just 3 chairs. The living area was somewhat monastic - wooden benches and a coffee table, and not a cushion in sight...
This all sounds a bit negative but I am just concerned about how it could cater for 3+ guests, any one of whom might like to cook and / or is bothered by dust everywhere.
I would certainly go back there in a heartbeat, knowing exactly what I am getting and planning accordingly. Oktavian is a very nice guy and was very quick to respond to my only complaint, a lack of light bulbs.
There are good local shops & laundries nearby, and the main drag of Sanur is about 10-15 minutes walk away. This includes the beach and an astounding array of restaurants.

  • The villa is absolutely amazing, even nicer in real life than in the photos. I stayed here 2 nights with my girlfriend and we had the villa all to ourselves. The owner (Octavian's father in-law) built the place for his daughter but she's currently living abroad in Europe. The pool is gorgeous, the bedroom is refreshingly air conditioned, and the kitchen and bathroom are immaculate and new. Octavian and Yanie are really nice, kind people and the most considerate hosts, popping in whenever we needed them but also giving us total privacy the rest of the time. Octavian even drove out and brought us back some Babi Guling (takeaway suckling pig when we had a craving) I'd welcome them to visit me in Australia anytime.

Only thing I would say is that the place is a little further than walking distance from downtown Sanur so a driver or a motorbike would be recommended to get from A to B which Octavian was more than happy to help arrange for us. The place has a landline too so dialling out for a taxi is not problem at all and ours arrived within about 10-15 minutes.

We can't really speak highly enough of our stay here. Matur Suksma Octavian and Yanie for having us. Was so nice to be your first guests. You guys are sangat bagus!!!
