The Space

Bedroom available in a large Fishtown row home!

Fishtown is a great neighborhood with lots of character. There are several great bars and pubs within a few blocks' radius and several great restaurants nearby. There are also lots of music venues, art galleries, and coffee shops in the area. There is also a huge supermarket 10 minutes away walking, and a 24 hour 7/11 convenient store 5 minutes away walking.

Public transportation is really convenient here, with the Market/Frankford subway line only a 5 minute walk away. That line connects you to most places in the city you'd want to see. It takes about 5 minutes on the train to get to Center City and the Convention Center, and about 10-12 minutes to 30th St. Station.

The house is almost 100 years old with hardwood floors, high ceilings, and lots of natural light. The room has a queen size bed (sleeps two comfortably) and plenty of space for your luggage. There is a shared bathroom for the house.

Other amenities include:
HUGE kitchen (cook a feast if you want to!)
WIFI
TV with Netflix, HuluPlus, and Wii
Tons of board games
Washer/dryer
Ceiling fans in bedroom and living room
Window A/C unit in your bedroom
Sheets/pillows/towels
Hair dryer
Large backyard with grill, fire pit, hammock, and huge trees
Unrestricted street parking (it's free!)
An extremely friendly and loving cat

  • Brendon and myself enjoyed staying at Jon and Alison's. They have a comfortable and spacious home only a short 10min walk from the MFL line, street cars and buses.

The room itself was quite big and we had plenty of hanging and storage space. They were kind enough to offer basic breakfast, multiple clean towels and use of their laundry facilities. You are however, sandwiched between their own bedroom as well as the bathroom, so be sure to use earplugs if you're sensitive to noise.

Malcolm the cat was delightful and always up for some affection when we got back to the apartment.

  • My boyfriend and I traveled to Philly for business/ school. We booked late (two days before arrival) with Allison and Jon, but they were wonderful in responding to our request and inviting us into their home on such short notice. Allison was in contact with us about arrival time and the key. We found easy parking one block from the apartment and we did not have to move the car during our three day stay! No tickets either! Allison was home so gave us the grand tour. Everything is exactly as in the pictures. The room was large and clean. Linens and towels provided. There is also a little bonus room that we did not utilize, but just having the option of space was wonderful. Fishtown is a great neighborhood and we recommend getting out to explore the cafes and restaurants while staying in this apartment. We met Jon in the middle of the stay, but he was as nice and gracious a host as Allison. As our first airbnb experience in the U.S., we were quite pleased. Would definitely recommend to anyone and stay there again!

  • Jon and Allison have a lovely home. They were wonderful hosts and accommodated us with a last-minute reservation. The location is great-- we were a short transit ride away from all of our destinations!

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and Jon and Allison were wonderful hosts. The room was very clean and comfortable. They had a lockbox for the key which made it easy to check in without having to coordinate with their schedules. I was in town for a conference at the Convention Center and their house was a perfect location - just a short subway ride to downtown but in a great neighborhood away from the city center. There was great food, beer, and coffee right nearby. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Philly!

  • Fishtown was quite convenient for my conference where all the accommodation around the convention centre was full up or very expensive - just a walk and five quick subway stops and I was right where I needed to be every morning. It was also interesting staying in an original row house. Neighbourhood options for dining were friendly and good - I enjoyed Johnny Brendas & East Girard Gastropub. Jon and Allison were kind and helpful hosts, and their cat is lovely.

  • My husband and I enjoyed our weekend here. Check-in and check-out was very straightforward and hassle free as there is a lock box for key storage. We didn't meet Jon, and Allison kept to herself except for a few brief exchanges with us as we were on the way in or out of the house. We were out of the house most of the time, but it was nice to come back to a comfortable room and bed. The house is clean, cute and orderly -- looks pretty much just like it does in the pictures. :) The kitchen is fully stocked and the hosts are kind enough to allow guests to use their food for breakfast.

  • We have come back after having spent the weekend in Philly. Nice house, comfortable stay. Didn't get to meet Jon but Allison was a good hostess and very relaxed about having us around the place.

  • My girlfriend and I were in town for a few days for a photography summit, and can recommend Jon and Allison's place highly! Beautiful, very clean house. The room was a comfortable size for 2 people, clean sheets and linens. No TV, but with a laptop you're fine! Didn't get a chance to meet Allison but Jon was relaxed and welcoming. We came and went as we pleased and checking in and out was a breeze with their lockbox system. The neighborhood has a few great bars and restaurants within walking distance, not to mention the subway. If you're looking for the Fishtown experience Jon and Allison's place is a great option!

About
We are avid travelers (we actually met at a hostel while traveling!) and love to meet fellow travelers from around the world. We love food and enjoy trying out new types of food introduced to us. Because things in life (work and school) have made it more difficult for us to travel as much as we would like to, we like to do the next best thing and meet people traveling in our neck of the woods!
