There is a lift in the building, very handy if you are carrying heavy luggage.
The building was built in the early 1900's and the lift is small since it was added a few decades later, so if you are not travelling light you might need to use it a couple of times to bring your suitcases upstairs.
Both the building and our flat have been recently renovated, so they display beautiful original details such as wooden beams in the traditional 'volta catalana' ceiling, as well as the apartment's door, while the rest is brand new.
We have also upgraded the internet deal at home, so it's 100mb download now (a super fast connection thanks to optical fibre!!).
By the way, I'm a musician and I live with my partner Karl, who is an English teacher and is studying zoology. Oh, and my cat Momo is here some months of the year too, if you are allergic please let me know!
The flat is really bright and the bedroom is always full of light since it leads to a balcony overlooking the street, in which you'll find a couple of chairs and a little table for the morning coffee :) There are many books in Spanish and some in English too, you can use them if you like reading. The bed is a huge double-bed, so you'll have the most comfortable sleep at night :)
- Fresh linen, duvet and pillows included
- Balcony with chairs and a small table
- Queen size bed (1,60mx2m)
- Fan / Heater
I recently bought a huge shower head, which will turn bath times into a tropical rain experience :)!
When you arrive you'll find a set of fresh towels ready for you, as well as a hair dryer, shower gel and shampoo.
- Fresh towels included
- Shower gel / Shampoo
- Hair dryer
The kitchen has all the equipment you'll need if you want to try some local recipes and you'll always find breakfast items, tea and coffee (included in the price) to get some energy before you start exploring the city!
- Tea / Coffee / Butter / Jam / Croissants or similar for breakfast
- Fridge / Freezer
- Oven / Grill
- Coffee maker
- Toaster & juice maker

WHY DO I HOST WITH AIRBNB
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I started to rent a room through Airbnb. Would my guests feel comfortable in my place? Would we get along well? Would I resent the lack of some privacy? Would it feel safe for both my guests and I? The answer after two years welcoming travellers from around the world couldn't be more positive. I've had the opportunity to meet awesome people, to share stories, laughs and moments I treasure, and even made friends I believe are meant to last. I love hosting people and would continue to even if I was a millionaire, since it has changed my life and brought a lot of positive experiences so far :)
We want our guests to feel like they're at home so all the common areas in the place -kitchen, bathroom, living room, balconies- are accessible to them, with all of their equipment and facilities. The only places we'll keep to ourselves are our bedroom and our little studio.
Interaction with Guests
Since I also use Airbnb when I travel, I know how important it is for a host to reply promptly and be easy to reach, so I make sure I'm always there for my guests if they need me.
I strive to communicate with my guests from the very first moment they show an interest in staying in my place. I'll be more than happy to answer questions and give you directions and tips to make the most of your stay, as well as accommodating you as much as I can.
We will be sharing the apartment and I'm a local, so I can also show you around if our schedules coincide and tell you how to get around and what places to visit according to your interests. I love finding good new locations and I love even more sharing them afterwards :)
Poble Sec sits at the bottom of Montjuïc, to the south-east of Plaça Catalunya. This zone is highly residential and possesses a wide range of services, several pedestrian streets and a pleasant village atmosphere, and there is much entertainment to be had as well. This includes popular cafes, bars, restaurants, theaters and clubs, making it popular with visitors. A good choice if you want to be central but away from the crowds of tourists that populate more central areas!
The main thoroughfare is Avinguda Paral·lel, an avenue that cuts down from picturesque Plaça Espanya right down to the World Trade Centre at the tip of the port.
The event halls and the Palau de Congressos near Plaça Espanya make the Poble Sec area perfect for those in Barcelona on business, having a lot to offer tourists as well.
Also very near Poble Sec is the Mercat de Sant Antoni which is a large market selling primarily food products, a good place to have a wander and overload your senses.
You can also easily walk to Las Ramblas through Raval in no more than 10 or 15 minutes.
As for moving around, it's really easy thanks to the location of the apartment.
Only 3 minutes away by foot you'll find the nearest metro station: Poble Sec (Line 3), from which you can change to Line 1 if you go to Plaça Espanya -one stop away, also connected to the FGC railway- or to Line 2 if you head in the opposite direction and hop off at Paral.lel -only one stop away as well, from which you can also take the Funicular up to Montjuïc, offering great views of the city and grassy areas to have a picnic-.
There are also several bus lines connecting you with the different neighbourhoods, and with the beach too in less than 10-15 minutes.
We recommend you to use the T-10 ticket to move around the city, but feel free to ask us when you're here and we will tell you what's the best deal for you depending on the length and the purpose of your stay.

Amanda and Karl were brilliant and welcoming hosts with a wealth of knowledge regarding places to visit and where to eat and drink. The nieghbourhood of Poble Sec was pleasantly off the tourist trail while still maintinaing a central location and a range of good value bars and restaurants. Would happily return to Barcelona and stay there again!
Amanda's place is comfortable and well-situated for exploring Barcelona. She was a welcoming host and allowed us to drop our bags off early so we could make the most of our short trip. She also gave good restaurant recommendations (mmm... brunch at Federal!). The apartment is comfortable but small enough to hear from the bedroom what is going on in the kitchen and living room. The noise wasn't a problem for us. Overall a good value for the area.
We were "deliciously" welcome by Amanda and Karl.
Their apartment is quiet and calm. The localization is perfect: you can visit museum, have brunch and diner in the neighborhood, walk in parks until the seaside, reach easily the Aerobus to go to the airport, by foot!
They gave us excellent advices for restaurants. And they were very interested in what we visited during the day: so we talked with us about Barcelone. We were very lucky to be welcome by Amanda and Karl who gave a lot of attention to us.
Amanda and Karl were absolutely fantastic hosts! Their home was clean and the room we stayed in was very comfortable. They both are very nice and friendly people, we spent one of our evenings with them chatting and drinking wine. Amanda is a local so she provided a lot of great recommendations for brunch and dinner, there is an abundance of nice restaurants and cafes in the area. Overall it was very easy to feel at home.
Amanda and Carl were amazing hosts. They were always around to help us find the best restaurant for the night. The appartment was clean and couldn`t be located any better.
Poble Sec seems like the best area to experience Barcelona like locals do and yet you are so close to the city centre.
We would definately recommend to stay with Amanda and Karl!
Amanda and Kaul is really friendly! They gave us lots of information about Barcelona to us, so it was really helpful!
The house location is also awesome!
And the room is perfect for us!
We highly recommend this house to experience 'real' Barcelona!

I'm a professional musician (singer and songwriter), living with my boyfriend Karl and my lovely cat Momo.
I'm very interested in the arts, culture, hanging out and sharing experiences. I'm fun loving yet in a serene way :) I've lived abroad (Belgium, Australia, India...) and having people around is one of the things I like the most, so I am very keen to meet people from everywhere. I became a vegetarian a few years ago, so you won't find a steak in my fridge... BUT I sometimes prepare delicious quiches and yummy empanadas, maybe you'll be lucky and get to try one of them ;)
I love going to the movies (weird, non dubbed ones :P), reading books (from Dostoyevsky to Douglas Adams), discussing about silly and also transcendent stuff, walking around, finding new places that surprise me, sharing those I discovered with friends, among other activities.
About the kind of host I am, I try to provide my guests with what they need to feel like they're home yet maintaining their space and entire freedom of movements.
If I had to choose a life moto, it'd be 'Live and let live'. And also, 'Put some music in your life' :)
