Shani had warned she might be away when we visited Bellingen. Her friends Jenny and Lloyd were welcoming and helpful. Our access was from a rear lane and this was nice and private.
The granny flat was bright, clean and comfortable. In a single room we had a comfortable bed, a sofa (smart but not so comfortable), adequate kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave and toaster oven, electric frypan) and a good bathroom off the main room. Appreciated the complementary home made native plum jam. Loved the walk-in shower covered in fine corrugated metal on the walls and smooth stones on the floor!
The location suited us well, being close to family as well as the main shopping strip in Bellingen. We didn't have a car and walked everywhere.
We stayed at this lovly house for one night and felt really comfortable! Though Shani herself wasn't there, her friend Jenny welcomed us as warmly as possible! Everything was well prepared, the room as the rest of the house was spacious, clean and cosy! Thanks for everything.
My mother and I stayed here on our drive from Brisbane to Sydney. We arrived a little late due to bad weather on the roads but we were greeted warmly by Jenny, a friend of Shani (who was away during our stay). Jenny showed us to the cottage and gave us a jug of fresh milk for our tea!
The cottage is sweet and well set out for its size. A beautiful wrought iron bed at one end of the large room, a real stunner, and a well-appointed kitchen at the other end. I just loved the antique style bathroom, and especially the shower.
Shani is clearly a collector and there are many little items around the cottage to draw your eye. I liked the little glass bottles in the bathroom. My mother thought the handmade quilt on the bed was simply gorgeous. There is also a nice day bed set up on the deck - my mother was a midwife in the 60s and 70s and she immediately recognised it as an old hospital bed.
Honey the dog greeted us in the morning and we had a nice cuppa before continuing on our journey.
We'd both love to come back for a longer stay next time, and Bellingen looks like a great little town with lots to offer.
Mulberry Cottage was charming, as illustrated on the Airbnb site. But the little extras in presentation made the place even more enjoyable with an eclectic mix of bric a brac and interesting furniture. The large shady mulberry tree and leafy garden, were a delight to enjoy from the verandah.
The owners were away when we stayed, but their teenage sons welcomed us, and showed us around. The two dogs were also friendly and welcoming.
Bellingen is a charming town, full of character, and Mulberry Cottage was the ideal place for us to stay when visiting.
Shani and her husband were very kind and accommodating of our last minute booking and our late arrival! The cottage was cosy and comfortable - with all the amenities we needed! We were even treated to home made plum jam and gorgeous soap.
Was great to stay at Shani and Steve's place they are very friendly and welcoming and gave my sons access to their pool. The cottage has some great decretive pieces and a nice modern bathroom.

I love travelling and I am always planning our next trip. We are off to Cambodia and Vietnam again soon. I am a teacher and my husband is a builder. I have a book collection and my husband a tool collection. We have two children still at home, two working, as well as one at uni and one doing an apprenticeship and two grand daughters. Yay more babies! We like to grow our own fruit and veges. We grow and distil Lemon Myrtle and Aniseed Myrtle at our farm, as well as other bush foods. We make our own soap and jam which is available for purchase. We have a slight addiction to Dorper sheep. We like floating around in our boat in the river and off shore catching fish. We love living in beautiful Bellingen and wouldn't live anywhere else.
