About this listing

The space

What we offer
We offer the peace and independence of your own home in the small Aegean town of Alaçatı, which is renowned for its beauty, narrow streets and stone houses. It is close to Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city, and a short drive from beaches to the north and south and the resort town of Çeşme to the west. Alaçatı is home to one of Europe’s premier windsurfing and kite surfing locations, three kilometres out of town. Our house is a spacious and comfortable new building and it comes fully furnished and equipped.

The House
Our house is a two-storey building designed within the strict building regulations that protect the traditional style of Alaçatı. It is in a quiet neighbourhood, five minutes’ walk from the centre of Alaçatı.

The house comprises two floors in a conventional arrangement with three bedrooms and two toilet/shower rooms (one en suite) upstairs and a large, open-plan ground floor with spacious kitchen, dining and lounge areas and a utility room/toilet.
The bedrooms consist of one spacious double and two singles/small doubles. High ceilings give all the bedrooms an airy feel and each room has a full-length sliding window. The main bedroom also has an attractive bay window. The main bedroom and one of the single rooms have air-conditioning units.
The ground floor kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, built-in oven and hotplates, and all the pots and pans, cutlery and crockery needed to meet a large family’s needs. The dining area has a large dining table, though you are likely to prefer to eat on one of the large terraces.
The lounge has two large family sofas and a wood fire. It opens onto the front terrace and the swimming pool.
The two floors are linked by a conventional balustraded staircase with an attractive, two-storey glass-block exterior wall allowing in natural light. Aside from the stairs to the first floor, there are no interior steps.

The house is in a compound of eight similar houses with a shared swimming pool. Some of the houses are family homes and others are used as second homes. This means that even in the quieter seasons, there are neighbours close by.
The garden attached to the house is small. The house has two large terraces that join at the corner by the swimming pool, which is literally a step off the terrace, though the terraces are enclosed by a low fence and wrought iron railings to provide a barrier for toddlers.
There is a flight of five steps down from the garden gate to the front path and one step up at the front door and both exits to the terraces have a step down.

Local Amenities
The centre of Alaçatı is a ten-minute walk from home and it has a wide variety of eateries offering fast-food, local specialities, sea-food and international cuisine. There are numerous open-air and indoor cafés, bars, tea houses and patisseries.
Çesme (10 minutes driveaway) offers the whole range of restaurants, bars and cafés that one would expect of a fully developed holiday resort town.
There are several grocery shops nearby and three well-stocked supermarkets in Alaçatı, with more in neighbouring towns. Alaçatı’s market day is Saturday, when much of the town is given over to a sprawling array of stalls piled with the best fruit and vegetables the region has to offer. Buying or not, the market is spacious, unhurried and shaded under awnings and so it makes for a pleasant outing.
Aside from shops meeting the daily needs of the local residents, Alaçatı has several mid-range and high-end clothes shops and souvenir shops, though many are closed in the off-season.

Local Activities
In Alacatı
Alaçatı is a small, rather sleepy town that offers fascinatıng strolls through pictureque streets, affording many opportunities for photography, sketching, and just hanging out. The tenor of the town is relaxed, friendly and respectful and you will wander free of any touts or of intrusive interest.
If outdoor sports are your thing, then you are in the right place. The world-class wind- and kite-surfing centre offers facilities, classes and equipment rentals to meet all levels of expertise or none. You may also rent sea kayaks and bicycles at the centre, which is three minutes drive from the house.
