Honaunau Farm is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience of living sustainably amongst a rich botanical paradise. The Main House has 3 bd, 2 bth, dining room, living room, full kitchen & lanai. Enjoy our retreat area with an outdoor shower and yoga space. We are 40 min. from Kona Airport and 10 min. from the ocean and swimming

The space
If you are looking for a unique, beautiful, and comfortable place to stay that offers endless ocean views, look no further.

The Main House at Honaunau Farm has 3 bedrooms with 2 queen beds, 1 double, and a large sofa in the living room. We can provide a couple more sleeping pads and linens for kiddos or adaptable adults, which allows for the space to accommodate 8 folks, family style. (Please note that there is an additional charge for any guests over 6 in the main house. In addition, the main house is not recommended for children under 8 years old.)

The main house is a perfect spot to enjoy the endless ocean views and South Kona Landscape. The farm is situated at 1400 ft in elevation, which means we have delightful temperatures year-round. There is no need for air conditioning or heating with evening temps in the 60s and daytime temps in the 70s.

Another great benefit is the farms' proximity to Kealakekua Bay and Honaunau National Park. We are a short 10-minute drive to both of these famous Big Island locations. The coastline near the farm offers ample opportunities for snorkeling, surfing, sunbathing, and other water activities.

The town of Captain Cook is also less than 10 minutes away with a well-stocked, diversified grocery store, hardware store, and local eateries.
Kailua Kona is about a 25-30 minute drive and has lots of options for eating, shopping, and enjoying. In the opposite direction, Volcano National Park is about an 1-hour and 30-minute drive.

The yoga/meditation/workshop multi-use retreat space is behind and adjacent to the main house and is a community space. There are yoga mats and meditation cushions available. ( In some instances, the yoga space may be rented for exclusive use.)

There is also the Teahouse behind the main house, which can be rented along with the main house for larger groups. In addition to the TeaHouse Cottage, we have the Garden Cottage, which is near the guest house, that can be added to your rental when they are available. For more info on those, you can check our other Airbnb listings or visit Honaunau Farm's site.

Guest access
Our farm has nearly 100 different fruit, food, and medicinal plants and trees. We enjoy sharing our knowledge on the cultivation and use of plants as food, medicine, and wellness. Guests are welcome to wander the farm and visit with the animals - we have goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, as well as several cats. Guests have access to the retreat area, including the outdoor shower, infrared sauna, and yoga studio, and also have access to snorkel gear.

Other things to note
In 2013, it was assessed that the tourism industry was responsible for “22% of the island’s total energy consumption, 44.7% of the island-wide water consumption, and 10.7% of the island-wide waste generation” on the Big Island. We are an ecologically focused farm community, so please be aware of your consumption of natural resources and how much trash you produce during your stay with us by maximizing your recycling/composting and using electricity, gas, and water conservatively. We encourage you to buy locally thus supporting the local economy. We have some great farmers' markets nearby as well as locally-owned restaurants and shops.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located in a rural, tropical agricultural zone in the heart of Kona coffee and tropical fruit farmlands. With very little disturbance from light and with the wide view of the sky, viewing stars or watching the moon rise over the mountain and set over the ocean is amazing. Our area has access to beautiful beaches, hikes, snorkeling, and is near the Puʻuhonua o Hoʻnaunau National Park. We also encourage guests to visit our local restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. There are the typical day time sounds of an active, working farm with operating farm equipment, processing of agricultural products, and often hold educational tours/workshops. The night time is also active with the sounds of cocqui frogs, roosters, and other farm animals from neighboring farms.

Honaunau Farm is a place where we can engage with people and share in the abundance of a co-creative conscious lifestyle. We love meeting people from all over the world right here on the land we call home. We enjoy engaging conversation about travel, spirituality, holistic living, healthy food and current affairs. It's a pleasure to share our life, and passion for regenerative food systems with hopefully being an inspiration for others.
