  • We really enjoyed staying at Lydie's house in Barbentane. The house is well equipped with lots of cutlery, pots and dishes so there are plenty of cups and glasses, ect. I also appriciate that three cubes of washing powder were there to operate the washing machine and some soap in the bathroom.
However, we did not cook so often but prefered to go out for dinner. Especially the small restaurant "The Romarin" in Barbentane offers an excellent menue starting from 13 €, but other French restaurants do that as well. Lydie's mother was very friendly. We do not speak French (only very, very little) but she was patient and explained everything with the help of the documentation you have to sign at arrival and departure. The place is a very good starting point for day-tours (Pond du Gard was amazing, but also Gordes, Roussilon, the Carmargue region etc.). We actually used the pool once but the water was still too cold (what do you expect in April), however, the pool area and the pool house are lovely and we would like to come back another time.
Another thing to point out is the good communication. Lydie answered our mails quickly and gave us some great tip to attend the Sunday Market in L'Isle de la Sourge.
We absolutley recomend this place and when we came back to Germany we told our friends and family about this great place.

  • Our stay in Provence was a dream, and Lydie's house was an important part of it. We were two couples and four young children. The house was perfect for us. The weather was good, the children enjoyed the garden a lot, we had lunch outside, and our dinners were very agreeable, in the dining room that overlooks the garden.

This a very well equipped house, and the kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare meals with the wonderful ingredients you can only find in France (the only things missing: a cutting board, knives and some recipients for leftovers). Giaclina, Lydie's mother, was very welcoming and even left some crayons, pencils and a coloring book for the children and a bottle of wine for us. She was also very patient with us during check-out (thank you, thank you!). Oh, and before our arrival she did some grocery shopping for us, since we'd be arriving at night from a 24h trip with the kids. What could be better than that?

We loved the location, close to many attractions and about 10 minutes away from Avignon. You have to have a car, though.

Lydie answers the emails really quickly, our communication was excellent.

If you, like us, are a family with kids, bear in mind that one of the bedrooms is downstairs, in the basement, so it will not do for small kids because of the stairs. Also, you pay for electricity in the end of your stay, which in our case turned out to be EUR 13 per day.

I hope to go back to Provence really soon, and Lydie's house is definitely where we will stay.

I have purchased some additional items for the kitchen :-)

Consigliamo vivamente. • Lydie De Negri: Lydie has a beautiful home in Barbentane. It is in a wonderful location for day trips to the fascinating sites in this part of Provence. The home is warm, comfortable and very well kept. Our only regret was that we were there at a very cold time of the year—it snowed! We never got a chance to appreciate the grounds around her home, nor the pool, or the pool house. Maybe next time!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful house. We recommend it for anybody who would like to understand the true atmosphere of Provence. Lydie and her parents are so welcoming that we felt like at home :) We wish to come back there soon :)

  • The best experience I've had on AirBNB to date. Excellent information before the trip. An absolutely wonderful host at the villa. The place is amazing, and close to many lovely things. The best people and the best place. It was an absolute joy.

  • Lydie’s Villa was perfect for our group of six—3 couples from Minnesota spending a week in Provence. The spacious house and large garden is lovely and well cared for. We had a warm welcome from Lydie’s parents who were there to check us in when we arrived. The house is well equipped. The large, sunny dining room was our favorite room with its big windows offering views of the charming garden and the town of Barbentane in the distance. This was where we started everyday with breakfast and gathered at the end of the day with a glass of wine to plan the next day’s adventure. The pool and pool house was another relaxing gathering place to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the garden overlooking the house. Yes, some of us took a dip in the pool even in September!

The villa was in a perfect location for day trips throughout Provence. We explored Avignon, Arles, Orange, Nimes, Aix, Les Baux de Provence and Pont du Gard among other places. But most of all, we enjoyed experiencing life in the village of Barbentane. We were fortunate to be there to attend the annual Horse Festival, (Cheval en Fete) featuring Camarque ponies being paraded through the village and a marvelous horse show. We shopped in the local stores and dined in the local restaurants and explored the local sights—the Bretoule Windmill (a short walk), Barbentane’s medieval tower and the Frigolet Abbey. We had a wonderful and memorable time in Provence at Lydie’s villa. We highly recommend it.

About
Let me give you a little bit of History about me, my family and the House and how it comes it is listed here today. My father was raised in an old house in the center of Barbentane village. In 1969 he decided to buy a land outside the village. This land was then known by locals as “Les petits Pins” (“The small pine trees”). Working in the construction industry my father wanted to build himself his own house. After two years, working on vacations, evenings, weekends and receiving some advices and help from some colleagues, the House was built. Early 2000, while I am working for an IT consulting company in south of France, I decide to launch a personal project: make this Family Country House a Vacation Home for myself and my Guests all year long. After 5 years, working on vacations, some weekends and receiving some advices and help from my father and my mother, the Vacation Home was completed! The Villa and the Garden went through renovations and upgrades meeting main requirements: keep true to the natural setting of La Montagnette and Provence, be comfortable, easy living, spacious and secure. Welcome and Enjoy your stay in your Vacation Home in Provence.
