Masha was very responsive and happily arranged a transport from the airport via her friend Katherine who lives in the same building, is super nice and helpful. On our first morning, we also received a delivery of bread which was very thoughtful.
The condo is very spacious, clean, and just a 10-15min walk to La Sabana Metropolitan Park and Paseo Colón.
Masha was a great host. Our first day was completed with a couple of things to get started f.e. fresh fruits, eggs, bread, pasta, rice and other small items. So we had a good feeling. After a small talk via whatsApp we had a first visit and could clarify a lot of questions...where to shop, what about drinking water and so on. We stayed three weeks and the spacious rooms let us feel like at home. We had everything in the kitschen and in the living room. The area was quite, good located near Parque Sabana -if you like walking in the park around! - and the fruit market is in walking distance. Busses could be reached easily. We can recommend this rooms.
We had a great experience staying at Masha's apartment. The apartment was fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed -- she even bought some breakfast food so we would have something to eat for our first morning. We did not get to meet Masha, but she was available on WhatsApp and was very helpful! There was also a local cell phone we could use to call cabs, restaurants, etc., which really came in handy.
The neighborhood was super quiet. It's about a 10 minute walk before you start to hit any stores or restaurants, and about 15 minutes from Sabana park (definitely recommend walking around there!)
We generally took cabs everywhere, but beware that they sometimes had a bit of a hard time finding the apartment, so make sure you have the exact address and cross streets with you.
Had a great experience with Mario -- he was waiting for us right outside of customs holding a sign up, and was very friendly during our ride to apartment. Even played tour guide a bit, pointing things out as we drove by.
Overall a great experience, would stay again!
Definitely trust any listing by Masha! You will get what the listing promises: a fully equipped, clean, comfortable and inviting experience. Masha is kind, personable and easy going. I've never been received as well by a 4-star hotel (and I travel a lot, all over the world and have business stays in luxury hotels). Other Airbnb listings will charge more for giving you a simple bed and bathroom arrangement. Masha uses Airbnb herself and has turned her listings into something of incredible value. Backed by her 17 years of living in Costa Rica with her experience of General Manager of a resort property there, Masha gives her patrons something fully equipped, comfortable, and unique. We loved our time in the executive apartment. Location is so central to major points of interest, restaurants, parks, food markets, taxi access and "the necessities" shopping, all in 10 minutes or less. We used apartment for 8 days as our "home". EASY to do this with Masha - she's what we loved about staying at this listing! She is incredibly gracious embodying everything about the word "host". She KNOWS Costa Rica and the area around the apartment so well and equips her guests with all they need!
We stayed in the apartment in September 2014. Masha was a very nice host including a welcome basket of fresh fruits that we thoroughly enjoyed. There was a small problem connecting to the internet that was solved quickly.
I would not recommend that you use the driver that Masha recommended. His name was Mario. He did not arrive at the airport until at least 20 minutes after we had cleared immigration. We found someone who called Mario for us while we waited at the airport, he said that he was stuck in traffic. It was almost 11pm when he arrived at the airport and the ride back to the apartment had very light traffic. His car was also very old, not clean and could have broken down anytime. Use him as a driver at your own risk.
Overall rating on the apartment:
Cleanliness- Clean but it had a funny smell sometimes during the day
Noise- There was quite a bit of noise from the street traffic as the windows were leveler glass that were always open without a screen.
Internet- strong internet connection
Comfort- Living room and bedroom were comfortable. The shower was a bit hard to control the temperature but overall good
Location- Approximately 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive to most of the restaurants and shopping areas
Overall, the apartment was ok but we would probably look for something else during our next trip.
I only get positive comments about my driver. The guest should told me about late pick up - its really important to me, I personally spoke to them a couple of time and they never mentioned anything.
Its get noisy sometimes in the day, as we located in the hard of San Jose, but its very quiet at night.
Being my first Airbnb experience, Masha was an amazing just to start with. Prior to the arrival of my girlfriend and I, we were provided with clear directions and instructions on entering the space. Masha even arranged for her cabby, Mario, pick us up from the airport. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and offered great suggestions on places to explore.
The apartment was spotless. The air flowed nicely through the beautiful kitchen and spacious living room. A map of places to eat, atms and local food spots (called Sodas) were listed — all within walking distance. We were even given a burner phone to call cabs from — but we only needed it once. The area of Sabana Sur is in such a great location, cabs often line up near the main road.
Masha checked in frequently and made sure the maid arrived on time! Again, we were treated with the best — fresh fruit, towels and a beautiful garden in the backyard where my girlfriend utilized to decompress and read.
We loved San Jose and having a quiet neighborhood to rest our heads and chill was great! Thank you, Masha! When we return we'll surely stay at this spot again, we loved it!
