Masha was a swell host. She provided a burner phone so we could call restaurants and taxis during our time in San Jose. She stocked the kitchen with breakfast fixings and dessert. She even provides a printed map to make locating things to do around her home very easy.
The only downside is that this apartment seems to be in a bit of a food desert. While there are a few restaurants within a couple blocks the grocery store is quite the trek. Just stock up before your arrive or get everything you need so you won't have to make multiple trips.
Quiet, comfortable, and close to the park, downtown, and the airport.Recommend staying here if you have a couple of days to spend in San Jose!
Masha's apartment was perfect! As advertized: clean, spacious for it's size, completely modern with all the amenities. The kitchen is gorgeous, the living room comfortable and with great decor, the bedroom cozy with a wonderfully large walk in closet AND a balcony, and the bathroom is adorable and well designed.
The location is ideal - near the park and public transit, a short way from downtown (I walked once, it took about 20 minutes to get to city center) but out of the way enough that the noise level wasn't bothersome. Think residential city neighborhood.
I stayed just over a week, most of which I spent recovering from an oral surgery, and I felt entirely at home and was very pleased at the level of cleanliness.
Masha was an excellent host - available when needed, courteous and kind. She made sure everything necessary was there, then left me to enjoy the place with 0 stress. I will definitely stay here again when I return!
Thank you, Masha!
I stayed at Masha's apartment for a week in November and found her to be a extremely gracious and accommodating host. She was extremely helpful in hailing cabs and providing routes to various locations.
The Apartment is precisely as listed, cable TV, wireless internet, washer as well as a fully stocked kitchen should you choose decide to do a little cooking. If not no worries, some great restaurants are just around the corner.
It was a fantastic experience overall and If i ever return to San Jose I will definitely be staying at Masha's.
I stayed in this apartment for 4 weeks from mid Sept to mid Oct 2013 and I would very happily recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a much cheaper, more practical option than a hotel room.
Masha is a very gracious and accommodating host who makes you feel very welcome as soon as you arrive. The place has cable TV and wireless internet as well as a well stocked kitchen and washing machine.
It is a great base if you are planning on being in and around San Jose for an extended period of time. It is 8 mins walk to Sabana Park, 12 minute walk to the new Stadium and a 15 mins walk into San Jose. Escazu is only $5 in a taxi away.
Should I return to San Jose I would not hesitate to stay here again. It has everything that a solo traveller or couple could need. I recommend this apartment very highly.
Masha is a great host and the apartment is a great place to stay in San Jose. The neighborhood is quiet but close to the center.
We enjoyed having a fully stocked kitchen and being able to wash our clothes and even had her cat visiting for an afternoon.
If I'm ever staying in San Jose again, it'll be with Masha!
We stayed at Masha's apartment for 2 days while we were in San Jose, and it was a wonderful! Her apartment was clean, modern, and comfortable. Masha was extremely helpful and accommodating by helping us hail cabs and suggest great restaurants around the area. All in all, we had a great stay, and I would definitely recommend her apartment to anyone for their stay in San Jose!
Masha's apartment was lovely and we had access to her eclectic book collection, kitchen and washing machine - all great comforts when traveling abroad. She took the time to make sure we were comfortable, had everything we needed, and knew how to get around. It was way better than staying in a hotel and the apartment is really cool. Taxi to downtown was about $4-5 and to the SJO airport it was about $25. We'll definitely stay here again if we return to San Jose. Thanks Masha!
The apartment is nice, but the area is definitely NOT a quiet one. Every day from 5AM til 7AM the trains are blowing their horns like it's war zone, then from 7AM to 8AM you have a guy with a loudspeaker yelling on the streets around that the eggs are at the door. Initially I thought the police is conducting some kind or drill and are evacuating the people from the houses, but it was just one guy, ambulant eggs seller. Then by 9AM the teenage neighbor downstairs starts his Spanish Rap Party and the whole building shakes from the loud bass. I feared the windows will crack from the vibration, and no, it wasn't an earthquake, just some Spanish Rap music. If there is no party, then you have the same annoying guy rolling up and down in front of the balcony with his skateboard trying to learn few tricks and make as much noise he can. Did I mention that there is no noise insulation from the street, but just a thin glass.
I should also mention that upon my arrival , there was no electricity for few hours. Taking the first shower was unbelievable. The warm water only lasted a minute then i had cold water only to wash off. The second shower was .... the same, no more than a minute, then cold water again, same as the third one and so on. I wish there was a note in the shower : Warning, warm water only for one minute ! Cold water guaranteed after.
The maid that suppose to show up on Wednesday, never did, and till Thursday morning, when I left, no sign of her.
To make my story short, if anyone is looking for a nice apartment this is the one, but if you are looking for a quiet place, I do not recommend it.
The apartment is very comfortable. The location is good, and the neighborhood is very quiet. The apartment also has a full kitchen, which was great for cooking meals at home. Overall, a great experience.
Fantastic host. Very accommodating. Her apartment is clean, and in a quiet neighborhood. She has a full kitchen, which is fantastic for cooking your own meals. There are also restaurants nearby (about 10 minutes walking). I was also able to do a lot of work in the apartment, which was great. The apartment is also very secure.
