Description

The Space

The apartment on offer has (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)), two bedrooms that accommodates up to four persons, one bedroom with a double bed the other with two single beds, with one and a half bathrooms, dining and living room, kitchen and laundry room.

Clean sheets bedding and towels are provided. For every week that you stay an extra set of sheets and towels will be supplied. For every week that you stay you can have the apartment cleaned and bed(s) made if you wish.

Free wireless internet and cable TV for two television sets is provided. The apartment has two heaters; La Paz can get chilly in winter, especially at night, and even in the summer when it rains a lot.

The apartment has a water heater. That means that you'll get hot water 24 hours a day when you use the sink in the bathroom and of course in the shower. You'll appreciate it when you want to use the sink as unheated water can be uncomfortably cold. It also means you'll get good water pressure in the shower as opposed to showers that don't have water heaters.

Starter supplies of hand soap and toilet paper are supplied.

The apartment has a washing machine and facilities for laundry to hang out to dry, as well as an iron and ironing board. There is also a professional laundry service less than half a block away which charges a little less than two and a half dollars to wash a kilogram of regular clothing and about seventy cents to iron. Suits and jackets cost three to three and a half dollars to dry clean.

The land line phone can be used for unlimited local calls to other land lines.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the standard appliances. Also provided are kitchen and dining implements such as cooking utensils, pots, pans, china, glasses, silverware and the like.

A starter kitchen package is provided with sugar, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, coca tea bags (good for altitude sickness), sponge, dish soap, rubber gloves and trash bags.

Thanks to the suggestions of our wonderful guests we have improved the accommodations with things like a new mattress for the double bed, a better shower head so that you will have even more water pressure, and a new tap for the kitchen sink; there is always room for improvement! Also, a brand new water heater has been installed so that you will get even better water pressure when you take a shower! It´s hard to overemphasize how important it is to get a good hot shower with good water pressure when it gets cold.

The apartment is on a 17th floor which gives it a spectacular view. Also, you need not walk up steep streets (La Paz makes San Francisco look as flat as your dining room table) and be left out of breath to get to it because the streets immediately around the apartment building are relatively flat.

There is an airport shuttle that leaves you some 30 yards from the apartment and it only costs Bs.3.80, or about US$0.55, coming or going from the airport, a real bargain! The shuttle runs from 6:12AM until 10PM, leaves the airport every four minutes and takes you to the airport every four minutes from the stop nearest the apartment.

What you get that is not included in the standard amenities:

•Weekly housecleaning (if staying more than a week and want the service)
•Clean sheets and towels every week (if staying more than a week)
•Land line phone
•Hot water 24 hours a day in the bathroom

Interaction with Guests

So that I can be at the apartment to give you the keys when you get there I need you to do two things: one, please let me know time of arrival to La Paz; and two, please call me when you arrive at the airport or reach the city. That way I can wait for you when you arrive no matter the time of day or night.

You can reach me by phone at any time of day or night. I'll be happy to assist and help accommodate any needs/requests as well as point you in the right direction for tourism, shopping and entertainment. Check-out time is flexible.

The Neighborhood

The building is located in Sopocachi-San Jorge, one of the prime residential areas of La Paz, but still is only a few minutes away from the center of town and most of the main tourist attractions. In San Jorge you can find the U.S., British and Brazilian embassies, as well as the Bolivian equivalent of the White House, all only a few blocks away, and is therefore very safe.

Eight blocks away is the cable car (teleférico) station for the yellow line. If you take it you will see some of the most spectacular views of the city, high up above the hustle and bustle, and plus you can get to visit different parts of town safely and cheaply.

Within a five block radius of the apartment you will find some of the best restaurants in La Paz, plus eateries of all kinds, pubs, cafes, shops and entertainment. There is a great Japanese restaurant, S.Yoshiko's (formerly Wagamama), about a block away that has the finest sushi in town and one of the finest anywhere (before you scoff, try it), and right next door is Casa Argentina, the best steak house in La Paz.

There is a multiplex two blocks away with a food court where you can catch up on the latest feature films. A block away is Mongo's, the Rock Bottom Café (actually a pub), a prime watering hole for young and adventuresome tourists, and about a block and a half away there is an Alexander Café coffee place that belongs to the best cafe chain in Bolivia.

There is a drugstore right in front of the building and two more less than a block away and a supermarket about a block away. You will also find a number of banks and ATM's within walking distance. Two blocks away there is a telecoms company that can help you with smart phone issues.

Getting Around

The building is strategically located between the two main thoroughfares in La Paz, 6 de Agosto and Arce avenues, making public transportation readily available. It has a street entrance from 6 de Agosto Avenue and a garage entrance from a street that is half a block away from Arce Avenue.

For sightseeing you can´t beat the cable car, the views from it are spectacular! The station for the yellow line is eight blocks away.

House Rules

Please keep noise to a minimum, especially before 7AM and after 8PM, your neighbors will greatly appreciate it!

The apartment door can only be closed from the outside, so you need to remember that every time you leave you have to lock the door behind you. I also need to see you just before you leave because you have to give me back the keys for the same reason.

Other than that, just what could be reasonably expected in terms of keeping the place clean, maintaining appliances in working order and in general leaving the place in the same condition in which you found it.

Smoking is allowed.
