Clinton Hill (Clinton Hill/Fort Greene) apartment is on the ground floor of an elegant mansion built at the turn of the last century. Clinton Avenue was noted for its large houses. Clinton Hill/Fort Greene is full of young to aging denizens, is ethnically diverse, with singles, families, students and tourists living harmoniously. Everyone’s here, doing typically what makes New York “Nothing like New York!” Clinton Avenue is quiet, but just to the corner is Myrtle Avenue with banks, comfortable eateries, a good bar or few, organic grocery and health food stores; all the services needed for the good life in Brooklyn. In fact, most of Clinton Hill's activities are centered on and about Myrtle Avenue. It is a hip, pleasant neighborhood with historic Fort Greene Park for tennis, running and seasonal activities. The building is one of the best in which to be near everything. The apartment is suitable for up to four persons, a very livable place, not too small, with enough room for all your needs.
Apartment is 6-minute stroll to the G subway, allowing easy access to Manhattan (15 minutes to downtown, 30-minutes to Midtown), and to other Brooklyn neighborhoods (generally 15-20 minutes). Clinton Hill/Fort Greene easily reaches the new Barclays Center, BAM and LIRR. Pratt Institute, St. Joseph’s College, LIU and other institutions are nearby: New York’s second fabulous park, Prospect Park (some claim Central Park is first), The Brooklyn Central Library, famed Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn Zoo, The Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO, and hip Williamsburg/Greenpoint, all via a short train, bus, or bike ride. The apartment is 10 miles from LaGuardia Airport and 12 miles from JFK. Neighborhood private car service to transportation is convenient and inexpensive.
Owner is an inveterate, retired New Yorker. May be available at reasonable cost for private transportation to/from the apartment, including airports, and possible car touring in New York City.
No smoking in apartment or building interior;
owner must approve pets; little or no noise before 8AM or after 10PM; if used for functions other than as temporary residence, owner must give approval; arrival not before 12 Noon, and departure by 12 Noon unless otherwise agreed to.
Bob was a gracious host. He met us at the apt. and gave suggestions of places to visit during our stay. The apt. was a nice size and was well represented by the photos. Bob allowed us to leave or luggage after checkout time due to our late flight. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Bob has really treated us starting from the airport until our departure as "his personal guests". This starts with very helpful shuttle rides, lead over joint breakfast and dinners to very authentic places and other very quaint locations for "feeding" where we have never even-dared to go to as tourists and culminated in two trips across New York, which were so unique that our children after the 14-day tour that led us also to Washington to Niagara Falls to Chicago, retrospectively asked about their highlights of the holiday responded: "Bob's tour and the helicopter -Flight in New York. " This is certainly not just due to the fact, that we have seen and experienced so much in a very practical manner, but also to the way in which Bob treated our children and us: Respectfully and friendly he gave to our children (19, 16, 11 years) the honest feeling of being welcome and taken seriously. The same goes for my wife and me. In this sense, we feel now very connected and recommend Bob as host very highly!
Bob made us feel very welcome. He greeted us and then checked in with us to make sure all was well, but otherwise allowed us our privacy. The apt. was great and the location was perfect. Thanks, Bob!
The apartment was exactly as it looked in the pictures - it was clean and beautifully decorated, we loved the decor. We had no need for internet, but a computer was available. Perfect location to where we wanted to be in Brooklyn, near all the main streets of Clinton Hill & Bed-Stuy area. Parking was surprisingly available on the streets. And Robert was a very friendly and interesting host. We would definitely recommend and stay there again.
This was our second stay here, and we'll be back! Bob is welcoming, the apartment is comfortable and well-equipped, and the neighborhood is full of great eating.
Hi Cheryl and Bill,
Thanks again for choosing the apartment for your stay. I hope to be able to host you in the future.
I definitely will prepare anyone who stays in the apartment for the pipe symphony. Your last stay was in a warm month, so you were not prepared for it. I will make sure there will not be a surprise for others. Personally, while I may have destroyed my hearing, I learned a long time ago to sleep through the noise. But it is unfair to assume others might not be affected. It was an honest oversight that I will address.
Wishing you the best for the holidays for you and your family.
A great apartment in Brooklyn! The location is close to the subway and not far from shops and restaurants. We were there over Halloween with our two young children and had so much fun enjoying the festivities. The street is closed to traffic and there was an entertaining show put on by volunteer artists.
Bob is what really makes this place a great apartment to rent. He was really friendly and happy to provide any tips for getting around and places to visit. We would highly recommend this and if we are ever in Brooklyn again, we will be contacting Bob!
Bob is a wonderful person very helpful , make you feel at home.
He offers the whole apartment to you including the beautiful living room and kitchen. So far it is the best place we stayed in and we will doing it again in the near future

About the Host, Robert M. (Bob)
I'm a lifelong New Yorker, who owns a wonderful co-op in Brooklyn's exciting Clinton Hill/Fort Greene neighborhood, and a really nice house away from it all in the Hudson Valley, north of NYC. Both of these homes are very special: well-furnished, within easy reach of just about everything that makes New York City and a place in the country great places to enjoy personally, and to share with others who visit. Both places for me are what I call "Su Casa, Lucasa". My apartment is in an old mansion behind a private entrance, where I've created a well-ordered and convenient environment for urban living. Upstate, near the Taconic Parkway, I've also established an attractive place to be for country favorites such as a great lake with white sand beach minutes away, skiing, antique looking and shopping, great dining, etc. And of course, a quiet spot many wish to savor in getting away from the city. Either way, as a host I want my guests to enjoy my homes as I do, relaxed and satisfied. I've traveled widely, and have been fortunate to visit many great places, but thoroughly enjoy both Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley for their many choices to experience and the sense of freedom they afford. Come, make mi casa su casa for some special times in and around our fabulous Big Apple.
