If you don't mind the 30 minute drive to Sugarbush/Killington, this is a great place to stay. This is one of the nicest homes my friends and I have stayed at in Vermont. Beautifully and tastefully decorated with both intimate and modern finishes, Rochester Retreat was clean, roomy, and comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were charming and I felt like we were at a nice hotel!
Helpful tips to know:
• Only AT-T reception works at the house.
• Internet/Wi-Fi didn't work and could only be fixed during weekdays. If internet is a must, you should bring your own WiFi Router just as backup.
• Similar to other Vermont homes, the boiler is small and will run out of hot water after 2-3 showers. Make sure to take quick showers and also be ready to wait for hot water to return.
• While other homes stock differently- Rochester Retreat comes with no more than 2 toilet paper rolls. If you come with a big group don't forget to buy or bring some extra TP.
The 7 of us decided to ski for the weekend and Heather's house was the perfect choice for us. It was very close to Killington in an adorable little town where everybody was super friendly. We got invited (email hidden) performance at the bakery/book store and it was an amazing experience. The venue was - obviously - tiny, and this created a very intimate setting where we could enjoy the music like we were at home.
Heather was super nice and helpful, she has a binder full of activities, recommendations and history about the house. It's very exciting so I recommend to take a look.
The stove she has is absolutely amazing. Draws the group together and sets a very cabin-like tone.
I highly recommend to stay with her, I hope we will be able to come back next year!
Heather was the perfect hostess. She was VERY responsive and so helpful. It was like talking to a friend! We had a blast at her house. Everything is beautiful and clean, and the beds were super comfy! The house has absolutely everything you could possibly need from a crock pot and coffee maker to surround sound! Rochester is so quaint and we loved being within walking distance from everything! We went to the market for groceries, had (email hidden)stro, got a coffee at the bakery, did a little shopping at the general store, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The ride to Killington from the house is much quicker than we thought it would be. Such a great weekend away from Boston and we will definitely be back! Thanks, Heather!
My friends and I really loved our stay at Heather's Rochester Retreat. The house is decorated in such a cool way, and had tons of space for us to stretch out and relax in. The house more than accommodated our group of 4 or 5 people, and we weren't in each other's hair. In addition, the house was nice and warm because of the cool pellet stove. Rochester is a cool, arty town in central Vermont, and even though we didn't take advantage of it, there's what seems to be a cool bar at the end of the block. We were about 30 minutes or so from Killington, which is a more than manageable drive. Lastly, Heather is totally nice and welcoming and easy to communicate with.
I had such a good experience staying at Heather's place in Rochester. It is even nicer than the pictures and she is a very lovely and conscientious host. We were skiing in Killington and the 35 minute drive there ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip as it is just down Route 100 through the mountains. I recommend a stop at Rochester Cafe down the street for the breakfast!
The reservation was canceled 6 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had an absolute blast here! Well stocked kitchen, immaculate and spacious bedrooms, warm and inviting common areas, as well as beautiful contemporary decor. What else could you ask for?
It is very centrally located to all the ski resorts in the area and has a small but complete set of local amenities like a grocery store <100ft from the front door, a hardware store even closer, bakery, pub/restaurant, etc.
Not only will we be staying here for our ski trip next year, but I think our summer destination may have been found as well!
Heather has been great, we recommend this place 100%!
This is a lovely big house, with a variety of unusual spaces and lots of room for lounging downstairs. We had everything we needed for our stay, including a well-equipped kitchen. Rochester is a charming little town well-placed for our purposes a 25-30 minute drive from Killington / Pico.
Highlights for us were the variety of art and objects around the house, and the nice hot pellet stove in the living room - nothing like it for apres-ski warmth!
We found this beautifully renovated home to be very comfortable and attractive. It was decorated with charming artwork and antiques. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything there that we needed. The home was located about 20-30 minutes from two different ski areas. Heather was a perfect host, making sure we had everything we needed, checking in on how we were doing, and giving us many tips on places to visit. We highly recommend her home.
We arrived late on the Friday night and found the house warm and welcoming. Any questions we had over the weekend were met with speedy responses and Heather was very helpful. It was a lovely house in a delightful, quiet little town and in close reach of great hikes. Next time we'll be bringing our ski gear so we can take advantage of the slopes nearby.
