The space

Spring and Summer are a special time in New England, and our home in central Vermont is perfectly sited to enjoy these seasons. Rochester is located midway between Killington to the south and Sugarbush to the north, right up against the Green Mountain National Forest. Route 100 is renowned for its picturesque views and every turn will bring a new surprise. Located in the heart of the lovely and engaging village, our spacious, non-smoking, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home was built in 1859 and is perfect for families or groups of friends. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed, bedroom 2 has a double bed and a futon, bedroom 3 has a king size bed and there is also a daybed located in the upstairs hallway. This home features a fully equipped kitchen. The breakfast nook seats two and the dining room seats 6. There is a sunroom located off the kitchen. The deck sits on the driveway side of the house and offers plenty of seating in the summertime. There is also a deck located off the upstairs bedroom with additional summertime seating, and a second-floor view of the village. For extra coziness during the winter months there's a pellet stove located in the living room and the home also features a washer and dryer. Other amenities include cable tv and wireless internet.

You are within walking distance (1 - 2 blocks) of an amazing bakery, a cafe, tavern and two restaurants. Mac's grocery and Liquor store is a very short walk too! Also in and around the village, check out the BigTown art Gallery, Seasoned Books, The Little Red Barn (second hand goods), The Wildwood Flower Antique Store, and Mom & Pops Maple Syrup where you can take a tour and see the process of making real VT maple syrup, and just south of town you can visit Judy Jensen's pottery and crafts in her lovely 19th century barn!

For all you skier and snowboarders, Killington is a short 35 minute drive south and Sugarbush is a short 35 minutes north. Nothing like having difficult decisions! Also, Nordic Adventures is located just south of town and offers backcountry skis, snowshoes and ice skate rentals. Access to snowmobile trails is nearby. So, with all this being said, book your vacation now for a time that you will never forget!

**for additional beds, if needed, there is a queen size air mattress and a single size bed pad.

Heather's place is super comfortable, beautifully furnished and such a great place to crash after skiing. Heather was such a great host as well! Everything was prepped and directions were spelled out for us upon arrival and Heather even came to greet us to make sure we got in ok! She was extremely responsive to our questions, and she genuinely wanted to make sure that our stay was perfect. The home was very clean and cozy and made our ski trip in Vermont that much better. The town is charming and quiet, and there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. We arrived a bit late and did not have a chance to stop by the grocery/liquor store before closing. Keep in mind that local restaurants and pubs also stop serving food earlier than most places. We stopped by the local Doc's Tavern - great beer!! Did not make it in time for food though. We managed to get to the convenience store in town before it closed and we were able to pick up a few things that night, but we also found a great place to eat about 25 minutes outside of town. Sunday morning we had a breakfast at Sandy's Books and Bakery - a quaint and homey little place next door. The food was absolutely amazing! And it was locally sourced - win-win! I would definitely choose this home again!

Heather was nothing short of a great host. Her home is very clean, spacious and welcoming. A lot of awesome shops and markets nearby. Killington was not a far drive which was a plus. She was very responsive, always asked if we needed anything and more. Great place to stay. Definitely going to stay here in the future, love it!

The Rochester Retreat was wonderful! The house is very cool and decorated beautifully. There were 7 of us staying for three nights and it was the perfect amount of space for us. Once we parked our cars upon arrival we didn't use them again until we left. The grocery store is right across the street, as well as a great little breakfast place. We walked to Doc's Tavern one night for snacks and drinks. Cute town with everything right there. Heather was easy to get ahold of and was willing to meet us while also respecting our privacy. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heather's place! She was very responsive and our communication went very smooth. It was an old house, but it has everything we need: comfortable, cozy, warm, clean and spacious, just a perfect place for a nice winter retreat with family and friends. It was about 30 to 40 min drive to Killington resort as well so it's great for skiers too.
