The structure, designed in an old mill and grain storages, is divided in three floors:
On the GROUND FLOOR there’s the bar and the small supermarket of Mercatello. All managed by the fourth and fifth generation of our family. The bar has a fantastic fireplace and specially during the winter is the best place in town to enjoy a glass of wine and make the famous “aperitivo time” with typical products that are available on the supermarket.
On the FIRST FLOOR there’s a spacious lounge, bright, full of plants, with a piano and if it’s your lucky day you might get surprise by one of the young pianists that come to play spontaneously. There are also some couches where you can relax, cinematographic projector and audio system. It’s possible to organize exhibitions, parties, etc. And there’s also a smaller room next to it, where is possible to read and cook in the fireplace. You can access this floor through a staircase that connects to the bar, but it also has an independent entrance from the back of the structure where it’s possible to park or to have access to the garden (with a grill for barbecue).
At the SECOND FLOOR there are 6 bedrooms decorated in a rustic style, each one has its own bathroom, a closet, a desk and everything you need to sleep and also towels. At the beginning of the hallway there is a small apartment with a kitchen where we live. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and it’s available to all the guests.
- The entire structure has Wi Fi
- Italian breakfast is included and it’s served in the bar.
Mercatello is a small Etruscan village, inside the hills of Umbria and in a beautiful and peaceful nature, near to the river Nestore. It’s located next to many wineries and cultural places to visit, in a territory still undiscovered where you can see different landscapes, that can be visited by foot, by mountain bike and by horse.
One of the best things about Mercatello is that it’s surrounded by many small and beautiful villages, not so famous, but with historical importance as San’t Apollinare (Byzantine period); the medieval castle of Cibottola; Monte Vibiano Vecchio (etruscan and roman, in fact two roman emperors were born here) today you can visit the famous Monte Vibiano winery and taste it’s wine and oil.
Mercatello has always been a place of passage, as it’s located along the ancient Via Orvietana, once for the market place, as can be deduced from the city’s name. Mercatello has always been loved by travelers and pilgrims.
We highly recommend you the magic of this place, surrounded by the rhythms of nature and everyday life shared with it’s people.
Mercatello is near to:
Marsciano 14km (20 min.)
Lago Trasimeno 20 km (25 min)
Perugia 28 km (35 min.)
Todi 35km (40 min.)
Assisi 47 km (50 min.)
Essere rispettosi del luogo e degli altri ospiti come se foste a casa vostra.
What a wonderful, comfortable place to stay in Mercatello Umbria....quiet and private, with scenic country views -- everything was exactly as described and shown in the pictures (or better!).The room was large yet cozy and the bed big and comfortable.
Dario was there to welcome me when I arrived, and kindly shared all the information of the area with recommendations of what to see and do. Paola (Dario's mum) was a very lovely, helpful and gracious host who told me everything about local traditions, personalities and other cities around this stunning, beautiful countryside location.
I really look forward to returning. I was very impressed with this place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you Dario and Paola.
We did not have a good experience at this site. There was no hot water, there was a party with loud music right outside our room that continued well past1 am, the kitchen was barely operational and the promised breakfast non-existent. We have asked the host to return a portion of our fee but have had no response from him to-date.
