The Space

Amazing luxury apartment in Downtown Brooklyn! Only one subway stop away from Manhattan, making it the ideal location for your next vacation as you can experience all Brooklyn (BK) has to offer whilst having easy access to Manhattan. In BK there are hundreds of delectable eateries and all of the shopping venues and boutiques you can handle. Visit the famed Brooklyn Public Library, Prospect Park or Astroland while exploring the endless things to do in the city by hopping on one of the five different subway lines that are within short walking distance. The good news is if you want the convenience of a taxi just step out the front door and there are yellow cabs 24/7.

The apartment and building has a wide range of amenities including:
• 2,000 sq.ft. State-of-the-Art Fitness Center with Cardio Theater
• stylish resident lounge with pool table
• floor to ceiling windows
• Washer/Dryer in the apartment

There is a supermarket literally across the road as well as other options in on neighbouring streets should you wish to cook meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Alternatively dine at various restaurants minutes away, to include casual eats at Palmer’s, which is located in the building, or brunch at Soco’s up the road or at the famous Peter Luger Steakhouse that has been rated No. 1 New York Steakhouse 24 years in a row.

The apartment is very close to Fort Greene Park, where you can indulge in fresh produce from the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays or use the tennis courts and other facilities. In addition, take a walk to the renowned Brooklyn Bridge and take in the beautiful city skyline. Sports enthusiasts can catch up with the Brooklyn Nets, but everyone can enjoy the shows and dining options at the newly constructed Barclay Center, which is walking distance or one stop on the subway.

Guest Access

You have access to the gym on the ground floor and the building's common room (with a pool table). There are guest services such as dry cleaning and maid services that can be arranged for an additional cost.

Interaction with Guests

I interact with my guests as and when they need me. I take pride in responding quickly and ensuring that they are comfortable before and during their stay.

The Neighborhood

I love Brooklyn because there is a community feel as everyone is pleasant yet it is so easy to get to Manhattan so you don't feel out of the action.

Getting around

As mentioned the apartment is a very short walk from Dekalb Station with Q, R, and B line, Jay St- MetroTech with A, C, F and R lines, and Hoyt St with 2 and 3 lines. A short walk will get you to Nevins with the 4 and 6 lines. The apartment is located just as you get off the Manhattan Bridge and as a result there are always taxis available as soon as you step out of the building. In addition there is parking available on the street or in the building's basement for an additional cost.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The apartment is, indeed, luxurious, well-situated, clean, and well-appointed in a new building. The location was only a 5 minute walk from the Jay Street/Metrotech subway station and maybe another 3 minute walk to Borough Hall. Street noise was not a problem and, despite what earlier reviews said, everything was in good repair and worked well.
Best, though, was how easy it was to work with April. She is excellent at communication and dedicated to making things easy for her renters. We heard from her before, during, and after our stay -- she even checked to see that we had gotten home safely!
We would happily rent from April again.

  • We had a great time at April's place. It was clean, bright and near everything! Subway, restaurants and groceries were so close!

  • We stayed in April's apt for a week while on holiday in NYC. It's a lovely place, with great public transport links, and plenty of things to do within walking distance as well.

The apt is spacious with a nice decor, and has everything you need. April has been a great host - prompt replies to emails, questions and queries.

  • I was in NY for a 6 week course and commuted to midtown nearly everyday. April's apartment was very convenient to my course location and I had a fantastic experience. It was convenient, clean, and easy to get around. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The gym is FABULOUS. On the occasion that I did have a question April was very responsive and quick getting back to me. I will definitely be back. :)

  • April's apartment was the perfect place for me! The location is top notch: grocery store across the street and very close to the A,C, F, Q and R trains. (No need to take a cab from JFK!).

The apartment is probably 3x the size of an average hotel room in NYC. The bed is super comfortable and even the bathroom is a great size.

April is an excellent host. Her directions were very clear and she was quick to reply to any emails. I will definitely be staying here again!

  • April's apartment was perfect for a short stay in NYC! Super simple to get to from JFK Airport, right in the heart of Brooklyn, and a perfect size! You'll be right near the subway, a grocery store right across the street, and anything you need is within walking distance!

The bed is fantastically comfortable after a long day of walking so you'll always wake up well rested. As far as getting around, there's the aforementioned subway stations or the Citi Bike stations which are nearby if you want to get a little exercise.

As a host, April's always able and available if any questions or issues come up. I didn't have any myself, but she was always quick to reply to any emails. She'll make sure you're well taken care of.

I wouldn't hesitate to book this apartment again... be it for a few days or even a week plus!

  • Great place to stay in Brooklyn! April was very accommodating and gave us brilliant restaurant tips!

  • April's apartment was just as pictured on Airbnb, beautiful, clean, tidy, and well furnished. The bed was amazingly comfortable - a joy to sink into after a long day's walking in New York. The location was great as well, just a few minutes walk from the Jay St Metro Tech subway and easy to get to anyplace in downtown, plus there is an all natural grocery store across the street. I highly recommend April's apartment for your vacation!

  • My friends and I stayed in April's apartment for 10 days and we had a great time there! It is clean and quite big, even though we were four people! The location of the apartment is really good, many subway stops are only a few minutes away and it only takes about 15 minutes to get into manhattan. There is also a very nice supermarket only one minute away (be careful the food is very good but quite expansive!). Over all I would recommend April's apartment to everybody!

    September 2013
  • Overall, a great experience for my first Airbnb stay and will do again when I come to Brooklyn - if April will have me :-).

    - April was very accessible, responsive, helpful (with restaurants, parking, etc.), and flexible (we had three people the first night, and two the second – and April adjusted the bill accordingly) despite being out of the country.
    - Beautiful, clean apartment.
    - Great location. Gourmet market right across a side street. Great restaurants all around. Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan, and Barclays very close.
    - Reasonable cost.

    Not-so-terrible Cons
    - Could use two more bath towels. We had two for three people the first day.
    - Cleaning folks stumbled a touch before our arrival. Per April, they should’ve had the towels/air bed sheets that were in the dryer folded and sitting on the main bed for our arrival. They also left a cleaning towel in the bathroom. No big deal.
    - The queen air mattress lost a bit of air through the night. I simply got up and cranked up the motor at 3 or 4 a.m. each night.

I am organising an international Supper Club called Savour Jamaica as I am passionate about my country and food. I have lived in England, Jamaica and France but I love living in Brooklyn because the people are friendly and there are countless eateries. I love to cook (you can check out my blog, The Yummy Truth), travel and read memoirs. Other than Jamaican cuisine I have a soft spot for pasta and foie gras, my favourite wine is a German Riesling, so if you need any advice on where to dine in Brooklyn or Manhattan I'd be happy to help. I have travelled quite extensively and I appreciate that meeting great people, seeing interesting things that you can't find in tourist books and eating great food contributes to a memorable holiday, which I know you can experience while staying at my home. I believe everything happens for a reason and I look forward to helping you enjoy your stay when you next visit NYC or London or Kingston!
