  • We had a wonderful stay at Mariella's place in Ortigia. The apartment location is ideal, close to walking distance to anything everything on the island, and a few feet from a beautiful view of the water. Parking can be tricky, if you have a car, but just look for gaps without the yellow "resident only" lines and you should be fine. Everything in the apartment was beautiful and comfortable, and Mariella was easily reached if need be, and she was full of excellent suggestions. From Ortigia we easily made it as far north as Taormina, as far west as the Valley of the Temples, and as far south as Noto and Marzameni (all highly recommended!). Around the apartment, you can find all manner of shops, cafes, and restaurants, so you never had to go far for an espresso, a Coke, a great pizza, or a stroll through the Piazza Minerva.

  • We were very impressed with this residence. The apartment is perfect for a couple, it is spacious and elegantly decorated and has all the facilities you would require. It is wonderfully private with a dramatic old stone entrance-way and three balconies, one with table and chairs which was perfect for afternoon drinks or lunch in the sun. The bathroom is large and modern, the bedroom lovely with a walk-in wardrobe, there is a large beautiful living room and a kitchenette with table and chairs: all of the rooms are light and breezy with an old-world charm. The location of the apartment is ideal - turn a corner at the end of the street and you are met with a breathtaking view, right on the sea's edge. There are two small food shops right next door and everything else is a short walk away.

From the second we arrived it was very clear that both our comfort at the apartment and our overall enjoyment of Ortigia were the hosts' priorities. Mariella and Milko, who live round the corner, were very gracious and accommodating. Not only did they provide excellent restaurant recommendations (Per Bacco and 1921) they also rang up the proprietors of these establishments to make bookings for us; upon announcing our names as we walked into elegant 1921, the owner welcomed us with a hearty handshake and a complimentary glass of prosecco. A very warming touch and completely in character with this beautiful city!Highly recommended. Chloe and Robin, London

  • Location, hosts, city - we just enjoyed everything!

The flat is beautiful, it is newly renovated and this mix of 17th century building and modern design is very special.
It has a lot of space and a lot of light, which is important for us.
We found great collection of AD magazines and we truly enjoyed looking through advertisements about 30 years ago - great fun!

This time coming to Syracuse our main goal was not seeing as many as possible cultural heritage places ( and it is a lot! in this city), but just feeling the vibe of empty winter Sicily and enjoying each other, so this flat is perfect for a couple.
Lazy breakfasts or glass of wine on the balcony with this small cozy street view or grocery shopping just down stairs with the old charming lady, this apartment gives us the feeling that we are really living here and we really appreciate it.

Just small note for people choosing this listing:
There is no terrace like on the pictures, no terrace at all in this apartment.
We were choosing this flat with the help of eyes, just looking through photos, we did not read the description that the terrace is not belonging to this flat.
We choose it because of terrace(we love open air and it was very important for us) as it is quite logical - if it is on pics, we should have it. We started dreaming about morning coffee with great Syracuse view months before our trip and off course we were disappointed when we arrived and found out that we are just invited to the hosts terrace for a welcome drink.

It was just one detail, anyway our stay was great, just be sure that you read everything carefully.

  • An excellent experience in every way! Mariella is friendly and communicative, and she generously went out of her way for us: Our arrival time was a bit inconvenient for her, but she was not only gracious about it but extremely helpful. The apartment truly is elegant, and even a little more practical than pictured. While the kitchen work area is small, the kitchen is remarkably well equipped with everything needed for both cooking and dining, and the kitchen table serves well for both. The neighborhood is one of the most beautiful and peaceful on Ortygia -- quiet even on New Year's Eve, as it turned out.

  • My husband and I stayed in this wonderful apartment in early November. We loved it. The location is phenomenal - close to the water and steps away from restaurants, shops, the Duomo, etc. The apartment is spacious, stylish, clean, very comfortable with all the necessities, including tons of cds, a great tv in the bedroom (we love watching movies which we hook up from our Nook with HDMI) and WiFi. You will feel that you are in the lap of luxury. We particularly loved the balconies (yes, more than one!). Mariella was very responsive, as we booked the day before, and her husband was wonderful in helping us with the parking and making great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. They were very kind in allowing us to leave our luggage there on the day we left, so we could do some last minute exploring. Ortigia is a magical place and having this apartment as a base of operations was amazing. With these wonderful hosts, your experience will be extra-(website hidden), the pix don't do it justice. It is really lovely.

  • We had a wonderful 6-night stay at Mariella's lovely flat, which was bright and spacious and perfectly located in the heart of Ortigia and right by the coast. Mariella was very responsive whenever we had queries, and she and her husband Milko were very friendly and eager to suggest places to visit and eat. She kindly provided a cotbed for our 2-year-old daughter and even helped us launder our clothes as there isn't a washing machine in the flat. We would highly recommend Mariella's place for any other couples/families looking to visit Sicily!

  • We had a nice stay in Mariella's apartment in Ortigia. The apartment looks exactly like it does in the photos ... sunny and bright. The apartment is a 3 minute walk to the sea and minutes away from to Duomo. Very convenient and very spacious.

It had the largest bathroom and shower of all the apartments and B&Bs we stayed in during our trip to Sicily, but the kitchen is no wider than a door frame.
