The Space

Private room in beautiful Capitol Hill home, 1/2 block from Lincoln Park. Walking distance to Eastern Market Metro (6 blocks), Union Station (1 mile) and the Capitol Building (12 blocks).

There are 2 rooms available in the house; this listing is for:

Sunny large master bedroom on the second floor queen sized bed ($100/night)

Also in the house: Small second floor bedroom with either a queen or 2 single Aerobed air mattresses ($70/night —

The rooms SHARE a full bath on the same floor. Towels, linens, & hairdryer provided. Shower stocked with shampoo, conditioner & soap.

I will be occupying the basement bedroom during your stay along with my affectionate yet sometimes elusive cat.

Guest will have use of the rest of the large Victorian house with full living room, dinning room, kitchen, and back deck.

The street parking in my neighborhood is free & unlimited on weekends and limited to 2 hrs on weekdays (7am-8:30pm). There are most often spaces to be found on my block during the day, and while the street gets crowded at night, there is usually something to be found within a block or so.

The closest Metro station is Eastern Market, about 7 blocks away; and Union Station, about a mile away. There are buses that drop-off and pick up a 1/2 block from my house. And there is a City Bike station a block away -- a fun way to get around!

Check-in and -out times are often flexible, and its always possible to leave luggage at the house before/after your stay — just let me know what works best for you when you inquire.

  • I had a great stay at Heather's home in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The room was spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is lovely, with the house being right on Lincoln Park and walking distance from Eastern Market and the subway. There are tons of great restaurants in the area. I look forward to staying again.

  • My boyfriend and I recently stayed for the weekend. Heather was a wonderful host by providing a helpful welcome letter and even basic amenities (towels, toiletries, water for the room, etc.) for our stay. The room was exactly as pictured: Clean and comfortable. Although there were other guests staying in separate room, we didn't a hard time sharing the bathroom or kitchen. The Capitol Hill location was super convenient (street parking wasn't a problem), beautiful, and safe to walk in. Highly recommend this listing and would love to come back!

  • This was a very easy place to stay! The room was nice. I came in late and left early. Heather left a detailed note of instructions, with lots of places to go in the area for food and entertainment. She left a Brita water filter in my room. Very comfortable, clean and simple!

  • Just a quick overnight at Heather's place in Capital Hill/DC. It's a great 'hood; easy to get around, close to all kinds of things (i.e., Eastern Market), and safe. Lovely home (especially the large picture of Ganesha in the living room). My room was exactly as's a very large space! Plenty of room for me and the well-stocked bookcase with some of my favorite authors. Heather was enormously gracious. Recommended a salon nearby (walking distance). I was comfortable and happy.

  • My boyfriend and I had such a perfect stay in Heather's beautiful house in the most central, safe, and best area Capitol Hill. The apartment itself was clean and we felt right at home immediately. I wish we had gotten to spend more time with Heather, but she seemed great (and has lived all around the world). All our best to you!

  • My wife and I stayed with Heather May 9-11. It was a good experience. When we arrived there was a note with instructions ond local places to eat. Heather was very friendly and welcoming when wet met her and fairly accessible. Our room was clean and we had no issues with any of the other guests that stayed in Heather's house throughout the weekend. In addition the Capitol Hill neighborhood is excellent! We felt very safe even walking at night. There is a park a couple blocks away and the metro station is about a 15 min walk. All in all of enjoyed our stay with Heather! The only challenging part of the weekend was finding parking. If you stay during the week there is a 2 hour limit when parking on the street. But since we were there on the weekend we were able to park a couple blocks away without worrying about the limit. I'd recommend Heather to anyone traveling to DC.

  • Enjoyable stay in the victorian master bedroom. Nice and clean in a quiet location and neighbourhood. Heather was a pleasant hostess, and we enjoyed our stay We would have preferred a little bit closer to the Metro and attractions. Its about a 10 min walk to Capital Hill and any close cafes, which isn't too bad.

  • Heather's home was exactly what we needed! The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, with every amenity we could need provided for.

The neighborhood is lovely and nice little walk to Eastern Market.

Heather was so accommodating to our late arrival and made it easy for us to get in and out during our busy touring schedule.

Will definitely book here again on our return trip!

I am an acupuncturist who has lived in New Hampshire, Oregon, California, Hawaii, Australia and Brazil, and who after quite a number of years here is still surprised to find myself living in Washington DC. I love my Capitol Hill neighborhood because it has a community feel with wide treelined streets along with the advantages of the city -- metro, shops, restaurants, and parks. As a host I'm happy to give you tips as to the best way to get around town and interesting places to go, as well as providing you plenty of privacy. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and at ease in my home.
