Summer is a wonderful time to visit San Miguel - our home has everything at your fingertips - you can just unpack. Our 2 bedroom home is perfect for 2 couples, or a family of 4, within walking distance of El Jardin, restaurants, shops & schools
This modern house, built in 2006, is located in Centro Historico. It's about a 7-minute downhill walk to the main Mercado, with another 3 minute walk to El Jardin, the main zocalo and epicenter of life in San Miguel.
Unlike many casas in San Miguel, you don't have to go on the roof for fabulous views of downtown San Miguel and the mountains beyond. The views are spectacular from the bedroom level, the main living room/dining room patio, and of course, our rooftop deck, which has incredible 360 degree views. The living room terrace, with those unobstructed views of downtown San Miguel, has 2 rocking chairs and a round, glass dining table with 4 chairs. The house is beautifully decorated and completely furnished with a well-equipped kitchen, a TV room on the lower level, and a Study including free internet, free Vonage phone to call back to the USA and Canada and local Mexican telephone. Oh, and our rooftop deck, with chaise lounges, a wrought iron and glass dining table with 6 cushioned chairs and the outdoor kitchen with charcoal grille, is the perfect place for cocktails at sunset!
Our cozy living room and modern dining room each have its own gas fireplace. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace with a king-size bed. The master also has a private terrace and a large bathroom with both tub and shower. The guest bedroom has two single beds which convert into a king, its own bathroom with shower. There is also a half bath off the dining room. The house is decorated with high quality, comfortable furnishings including hammered copper sinks, excellent lighting, beds with comforters and good linens. Twice a week maid service and once weekly gardener is included.
It is an 8 minute downhill walk to the Jardin. We usually taxi back up the hill, but really not a problem to walk back. Taxis cost just 25-30 pesos or $2-3 USD to taxi back. Our home is suitable for adults only, no pets or very young children. We do not have a garage, on-street parking only and please, no smoking.
From either the Leon or Queretaro airport, van service or private car can pick you up and bring you to the house. (Let us know if you need assistance with this).
We have a property manager on-site in San Miguel to solve problems quickly and answer any questions and of course, we welcome any emails with any questions you may have.
You have access to our home's WIFI, internet, cable TV and VONAGE phone (free calls to the US and Canada). Bring you laptop and access our printer IF you are so unlucky that you have to do some work while you are here!
Interaction with Guests
We're available via phone or email for questions; our housekeeper, Soledad, comes twice a week from 9 AM - 3 PM to take good care of you. She can prepare a light breakfast or lunch, and will wash and iron your laundry. You will feel pampered!
We love that our house is in a close-knit Mexican neighborhood, on a narrow, walking callejon with no cars, off a regular street, minutes walk from El Jardin. Enjoy the local life of San Miguel - church bells, children playing, fireworks (during fiestas), and music playing.
San Miguel is a walking town, complete with a good, inexpensive bus network, and lots of taxis. There are buses off the Plaza Civica for 3-5 pesos, as well as plentiful taxis to hail for 25-30 pesos per stop. You don't need a car, and it's walking distance to almost everything in town.
From the airport (either Leon - BJX, or Queretaro - QRO), we take a door-to-door shuttle service called BajioGo Shuttle. Make your reservations online or by phone.
Other Things to Note
Whole house water purification system, well-equipped cook's kitchen, twice weekly maid service and gardener once a week. WIFI, Cable, huge collection of movies.
No pets. Children over 16 welcomed, unless arranged in advance.
For everyone's understanding and protection, we provide a rental agreement, outlining expectations and responsibilities - including cancellation policy -- for you, the renter and ourselves, the owners. My son and I visited SMA for a month to study Spanish and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chepito house. The house is exactly as pictured (if not prettier) - very clean, and fully furnished with everything you need. The kitchen, in particular, was ready for real cooking! My son and I both felt totally safe in the neighborhood. The housekeeper, Soledad, was lovely and helpful with anything we needed. Laurie and Larry kept us up to date with SMA events through a weekly email and were prompt and easy to reach through the rental process. All in all a great stay - thanks Laurie and Larry!
We're so glad Kara and her son chose to stay at our home. It's great to know that they enjoyed the neighborhood, the house, cooking and the views! They are welcome to come back anytime.
We are planning to add a safe to the house, and will stock up on more spices so the cooking can continue!
