  • Ever wonder what your life would be like if you had the perfect family, in a cute little home, decorated perfectly to your taste, just steps away from the beach? Well, now you can experience it.

I've stayed at maybe 6 or 7 places on airbnb, and this is the one that impressed me the most. Not because it's huge, or has tons of amenities, but because it's the most well-designed house I've seen so far.

It's impossible to describe the feeling you get, without actually being there, but you see little touches of dedication and hard work in every nook and cranny. It's a house full of love, and you really feel it while staying there. If you're the type that really appreciates the DIY approach to life, you'll love this place.

Only downside? A little far from the touristy stuff.

Still, after a 45 minute drive home from the other side of the island, I can't think of a place I'd rather stay.

  • We were a group of six including a 5 year old. This home fit our needs in all respects. We didn't want to be in the Honolulu area. It was quiet and easy access to many beaches and a short ride to the north shore and big waves! The hiking trail right behind the rental was great with beautiful views and trails good for 60+ and 5 year olds. The rental was as shown on Airbnb and the Hosts were very nice to work with.

  • We had a great time at Meg's place. It looked just like the pictures and was exactly as expected. It definitely has that island feel with the amazing work they've done on the place. The extras mentioned were very nice (ie. lots of towels, shampoo, soap, body boards, surf boards, etc). Access to the place was easy even though our flight didn't get in until midnight. Meg was great at communicating everything and even provided a really great list of local eating and entertainment.

We stayed there 3 weeks so we kind of made it our home away from home and got to know Meg and her family quite well. We had our children with us on this trip, and our kids loved playing with Meg's kids. I also have to mention that the internet was great (which isn't always the case in Hawaii).

  • Our stay was great. Everything we needed was provided eg beach towels, shampoo, conditioner soap etc. Meg emailed me the day we were due to arrive with a list of local attractions to check out. Would highly reccomend

  • I could not have been more happy with our stay at Meg's home. The unit was everything that was advertised. Meg was a most gracious host, easy to talk to and very accommodating! The home was in a perfect location for shopping, entertainment and the best beaches were within walking distance. We did not want to leave and hope to be back soon.

  • Our stay with the Thomander's was perfect. Perfect location, access to beaches, quiet, clean, everything we could have asked for on our first trip to Hawaii. We have already recommended this home to several of our friends and will continue to do so.

  • We have done a fair share of traveling and this is by far the best place we've ever stayed. Not only was it a very clean and adorable place, it had everything we needed, from beach towels, to laundry, to every gadget we could possibly need for cooking meals. This saved us lots of money and made packing easier too! They went above and beyond to make it a pleasant experience for us. Even had fresh pineapples waiting for us- nice little extra gesture. They thought of everything to make it comfortable and convenient and they were always quick to respond to us, but also gave us our privacy. So easy to work with and very helpful-gave us great advice on the best spots to go. We loved having access to the surfboards-saved us lots of money on renting! The location was perfect! North shore was where we wanted to spend our time and everywhere we wanted to go was never more than a 45 minute drive, but some of our favorite places were less than 10 minutes away. There are so many beautiful beaches and mountains in the area, as well as fun places to eat and shop, and I am so glad we stayed on this side of the island as opposed to the Honolulu and Waikiki area. There was so much to see and do in the area that we were unable to cover it all in our week there! This is a great place for families-we have 2 small children and it was so nice to have a play area for them. I will recommend this to everyone because it was such a positive experience for us. The Thomanders are honest, friendly people who are genuinely concerned about making sure it is
    a great stay for you!

About
I grew up in the mountains of Park City and now live by the ocean in Hawaii! I love my life here on this tiny island with my husband and two kids. We love to skate, surf, snowboard, hike, and spend time as a family. We also love to travel and see different parts of the world, by renting out our house here in Hawaii this becomes possible.
