We're a 20 min scenic walk from Frenchman and the French Quarter, a couple of blocks from several bus stops, all with bars, restaurants, and cafe's along the way!
Our home is one of the most popular styles of home in New Orleans: Shotgun Style. The guest room is between the kitchen and bath with doors on both sides and a back entrance through the patio. This provides easy access for those late nights out and about without worrying about walking through anyone's space.
We are about 5 minutes to the Marigny and 15 minutes from the French Quarter in a nice quiet neighborhood. Guests walk at all hours of day and night with no issues and usually report back how friendly everyone is along the way. There are many bars, restaurants and shops along the way.
We gladly provide maps, tourist information and the latest schedule on what's going on in the city. Free WiFi is provided along with full use of the kitchen and laundry. A bbq grill is in the back and we love to bbq.
Interaction with Guests
Pierre and Will are both outgoing and friendly guys. We both work from home, so we're around often but also like to get out and see the city. If you need quiet time for work, sleep late, or prefer to chill and chat, we're up for it!
The neighborhood has a great park and we're located next to a couple of historic cemeteries. One of the oldest churches is also on our block. The neighbors are very friendly and love to interact with guests as they come and go.
There are several bus stops within a few minutes walk. You'll make it to the French Quarter or Frenchman faster if you walk. Taxis are available at pretty reasonable rates. (Our last taxi ride to the French Quarter on a rainy day was about $10 with tip.)
Other Things to Note
There are tons of things to do in New Orleans both day and night. Many tour operators provide pickup services in the French Quarter to take you to plantations and out to the swamp to see and feed the alligators. Of course New Orleans is all about the food and music. We're glad to offer many suggestions in that area.
As in any house we ask that you clean up after yourself. If you need anything just ask. Coffee and some teas are provided in the kitchen. Instructions are provided for the coffee maker (or you can ask us and we'll make it for you). We're pretty flexible on check-ins and checkouts. From time to time we have overlap with a guest leaving while more arrive. We can easily store luggage for guests with late flights so you don't have to drag it around with you on your last day. For those arriving early, we can do the same until the previous guests are ready to go.
We don't allow smoking in the house but front porch or back patio is fine.
Our stay at Will and Pierre's place was great. The two guys were welcoming and made us feel like home. They know a lot about New Orleans and gave us very good advices what to do and where to go. Obviously privacy is an issue in a shotgun style house but they handled that very well with the policy "if your door is closed, we won't bother you at all". Although some would be sceptical about the neighborhood, we felt save there. All in all we had the feeling to stay with friends.
Will and pierre were great, very friendly hosts. They really made us feel welcome and provided a wonderful space. The bed is very comfortable and the house very much exceeded my expectations from the pictures, they do not do it justice. Will and pierre were also great at providing maps and instructions to help us navigate the city. All around great stay and better trip.
Pierre and Will made us feel very welcome, despite our last minute flight change and arriving late. We really appreciated W &P's tips for places to eat, things to do and see- they gave us some real local insight into the city and its history. The walk from their house to the French quarter is a pleasant stroll. We really enjoyed our short stay with them and would definitely recommend them!
Will and Pierre definitely helped make our trip comfortable. They took the time to help us get around by printing maps and information we needed. These guys are super chill!
Will & Pierre were excellent hosts! They are both friendly and welcoming. Our stay at their home was just what we needed. It was a clean space and comfortable bed, fresh towels and a hot shower. Thank you Will & Pierre!
We are so grateful for Wil and Pierre's hospitality. They have been very graceful and attentive hosts. We came in early morning and they let us leave our bags with them.
They made us feel welcome and have lots of advice and axlso great to talk to. We appreciate their hospitality. Thank you guys.
Pierre and Will both work from home. Pierre is an architect and illustrator. He grew up in Martinique and lived in Paris for about 9 years before making the trek to New Orleans. He's a huge comics, gaming, and music fan. If you need to know what bands are playing and where, he definitely knows where to find out.
Will works from home writing, providing web marketing services, and covering local events as a freelance journalist. He originally moved south to volunteer to help rebuild New Orleans.
We are both passionate about the history, music, and food here. We've both played host to visitors from all over the world and have traveled extensively ourselves. To us, a big part of this is getting to meet and get to know the incredible people visiting the city!
