About this listing
We're a 20 min scenic walk from Frenchman and the French Quarter, a couple of blocks from several bus stops, all with bars, restaurants, and cafe's along the way!
Our home is one of the most popular styles of home in New Orleans: Shotgun Style. The guest room is between the kitchen and bath with doors on both sides and a back entrance through the patio. This provides easy access for those late nights out and about without worrying about walking through anyone's space.
We are about 5 minutes to the Marigny and 15 minutes from the French Quarter in a nice quiet neighborhood. Guests walk at all hours of day and night with no issues and usually report back how friendly everyone is along the way. There are many bars, restaurants and shops along the way.
Note: We recently adopted a dog (labrador). He is very docile, quiet, and obedient. His space is located in the front of the house far from the guest room.
We gladly provide maps, tourist information and the latest schedule on what's going on in the city. Free WiFi is provided along with full use of the kitchen and laundry. A bbq grill is in the back and we love to bbq.
Interaction with Guests
Pierre and Will are both outgoing and friendly guys. We both work from home, so we're around often but also like to get out and see the city. If you need quiet time for work, sleep late, or prefer to chill and chat, we're up for it!
The neighborhood has a great park and we're located next to a couple of historic cemeteries. One of the oldest churches is also on our block. The neighbors are very friendly and love to interact with guests as they come and go.
There is plenty of free parking space by our house.
There are several bus stops within a few minutes walk. You'll make it to the French Quarter or Frenchmen faster if you walk. Taxis are available at pretty reasonable rates. (Our last taxi ride to the French Quarter on a rainy day was about $10 with tip.)
Other Things to Note
There are tons of things to do in New Orleans both day and night. Many tour operators provide pickup services in the French Quarter to take you to plantations and out to the swamp to see and feed the alligators. Of course New Orleans is all about the food and music. We're glad to offer many suggestions in that area.
As in any house we ask that you clean up after yourself. If you need anything just ask. Coffee and some teas are provided in the kitchen. Instructions are provided for the coffee maker (or you can ask us and we'll make it for you). We're pretty flexible on check-ins and checkouts. From time to time we have overlap with a guest leaving while more arrive. We can easily store luggage for guests with late flights so you don't have to drag it around with you on your last day. For those arriving early, we can do the same until the previous guests are ready to go.
We don't allow smoking in the house but front porch or back patio is fine. NO extra guests allowed in the house besides the guest(s) booking with us.
About the Host, Will & Pierre
Pierre and Will both work from home. Pierre is an architect and illustrator. He grew up in Martinique and lived in Paris for about 9 years before making the trek to New Orleans. He's a huge comics, gaming, and music fan. If you need to know what bands are playing and where, he definitely knows where to find out.
Will works from home writing, providing web marketing services, and covering local events as a freelance journalist. He originally moved south to volunteer to help rebuild New Orleans.
We are both passionate about the history, music, and food here. We've both played host to visitors from all over the world and have traveled extensively ourselves. To us, a big part of this is getting to meet and get to know the incredible people visiting the city!
