The Space

This apt. is in a typical nyc urban area. It is a 3 bedroom but sleeps 9. It features 7 real mattresses, a very thick mat like 8 to 9 inches thick and a blow up bed. We welcome groups and families with children. We also speak french and spanish.

This is a 3 bedroom apartment totally renovated. There are 2 large bedrooms and 1 smaller sized bedroom. The master bedroom, has a queen sized canopy bed. The sleigh bed in the photo is a full sized bed, The other room consist of a twin sized bed, The kitchen is newly renovated with granite counter tops and trash cans that roll in the cabinets. The bathroom is decent sized for New York City but by no means a huge bathroom. The flooring is the original antique floors. It is for that reason that we ask that all hard shoes be removed.

Guest should expect a warm inviting host. You should know that Airbnb has been a great part of my life in the past year. I you should expect a host that is eager to meet people of all different backgrounds. You can also count on having a host that is ready to respond to text and phone calls at most times. Communication and hospitality is definitely our strong points and it is my passion. You should also expect to find an immaculate place that is well equipped with all possible kitchen utensils, including non-stick pots, dishes, eating utensils, seasonings for cooking, coffee, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, tea kettle, dish washing liquid, garbage bags and paper towels. The bathroom will be stocked with extra toilet tissue and sufficient towels. The beds will be made with quality linens at all times.

Our neighborhood is full of culture and very diverse, atypical of New York City, There are supermarkets and almost everything you could possibly want to purchase, selling on Broadway. This is one block away. There is a Bank of America on the corner, along with the Police Station directly across the street (couldn't feel more protected than that). The train (metro) station (J train) is less than a 2 minute walk. There are local pubs on Broadway as well as on Lewis Avenue. We are located less than 15 minutes from the Barclays Center, about 20 minutes from the Botanical Gardens, Children Museum and the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Museum, Jewish Children's Museum and the New York City Transit Museum. We are about 30 to 40 minutes via train from Times Square and most parts of Manhattan.

What makes this place unique is not only the decor, but the community and lets not forget the friendly host ;-). Whether or not you choose this place, I do hope you enjoy the "city that never sleeps". Discounted rate from December to February. Ask about further discounts for that period if 4 or more days are reserved. Be sure to look at my other listing 596373 is the listing number.

  • We anticipated a pleasant experience based on the previous reviews and we were not disappointed in any way. Venessa and her family are so kind and thoughtful and the apt. is clean and nicely decorated. Most important of all, the beds are extremely comfy and we slept like babies, even those of us who slept on the rollouts in the living room. We didn't cook at all but the kitchen is fully equipped, including sugar and a variety of spices. Full sized frig and range, pots & pans, etc.

Our first day there, Venessa recommended a local restaurant/diner for lunch and we ended up going there every day for breakfast. Super nice people in the neighborhood.

The only thing I wish we'd done differently is study the subway map before our trip because we wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to get where we were going. But again, Venessa came to the rescue and told us about apps for our smart phones that saved the day.

We got bumped on our flight home and are already looking for dates to use our vouchers so we can fly back to NYC and stay in our new home away from home.

  • Venessa is very helpfull. We could handle the request at any time. Venessa always helped.

  • Our trip at Venessa's house was awesome! The house is great and comfortable, just as shown on the pictures. Venessa and her husband were very nice, they welcomed us warmly and were very helpful.
The house is well equipped and very close to the subway station (Gates station) that goes to Manhattan in half an hour.
As a group of students we really appreciated our stay there!

  • Stay here! Stop everything you are doing and click the "book it" now button! Venessa's home is perfect! This was my first time using AirBnB and I was nervous about it working out. I need not have worried, I now officially want to live in Brooklyn in Venessa's apartment...really, it is that fabulous!

    1. The actual condition of the home: this apartment is clean, airy, comfortable, welcoming, full of beautiful design and decorated with great attention to detail and comfort. We felt like real New Yorkers, not tourists, by staying in this apartment!
    2. Safety: The neighborhood felt totally safe, whether we were walking home at 1:30am (literally!) from the subway or walking around in the late morning...we never felt unsafe (and I am a scaredy-cat, so when I say it is safe, it is really safe!).
    3. Proximity to the subway: Venessa's apartment is literally a three minute walk to the subway and that is with two grandparents and two little kids...she lives unbelievably close to the line!
    4. Parking: We parked our cars and left them there for five days with no problems!!
    5. Communication: Venessa responded promptly to all my many inquiries, made suggestions for the best way to accomplish our big agenda, and kept in great contact! She even sent a message to make sure we arrived back home safely when our vacation was over!

My oldest child has severe food allergies, I informed Venessa and she made every extra effort to make sure all food surfaces and floors were extra clean (e.g., no stray peanut shells under a couch). I am confident Venessa always has a clean and spotless apartment for her guests, but she definitely understood our concerns and made sure we felt comfortable.

Venessa...is a marvelous human being! She is welcoming, friendly, accepting, wise, and so lovely to spend time with. She brought a bottle of wine up the first night and then we had a bit of time to relax and chat with her one evening. I could have spent the rest of the vacation hanging out with her!

In summary, this apartment and hostess were everything and more than we could have hoped for. We had six people, from age 2 to age 67 and there was plenty of space, comfortable beds, a safe environment, a great location, and everything we could have expected and more! I cannot wait to go back to NYC and the only place we will stay will be with Venessa...we will literally plan our dates around Venessa's apartments availability!

  • Venessa and her 3 bedroom were great. We would definitely stay there again. We are familiar with NYC and the subway, so it worked for us to stay here and then use subway into NYC. The apt is close to the subway station. Lots of little restaurants around. Thanks to the kitchen and nice dining area, we only dined out one meal a day. Venessa left lots of food, which was healthy, so we really appreciate nibbling on grapes, melon, and other fruits.

  • Vanessa met us upon arrival; showed us around the beautiful and clean apartment, provided food for us to eat and offered up advice on what do to do and see in the area. She also made herself available to us at all hours by phone. The apartment was spacious and conveniently located close to the J train. Our trip was wonderful and I would definitely stay here again!

  • Venessa was a truly fantastic host! Her apartment is very spacious, clean and cozy. With the subway station just around the corner, fast access to Manhattan is granted. It's hard to find a better bargain in New York City!

  • Venessa was a lovely host. Besides the excellent accommodations, Vanessa had a dozen croissants, dozens(!) of eggs, and even 4 bears in the fridge! She is easy to work with and very nice. We would definitely stay again if we're coming her way.

  • Fantastic experience! The apartment is really nice, but Vanessa and her family is even nicer! They were so helpful for providing information, helping us with our bags, calling taxis, even shoveling the snow so we could walk through safely and easily. Also when my friend's flight was delayed, she let her stay in the apartment past normal check-out time to accommodate. It's the little things like this that really make a difference. Highly recommend staying here! Just a couple minutes walk to the subway station as well. Thanks very much for your kind hospitality.

About
After doing Airbnb for about one year, I have decided to change my description. i can now say, that, the best description of myself is a fun loving host with a passion to please my guest. I feel privileged to be afforded the opportunity to meet so many people from so many different backgrounds and the opportunity to travel through your eyes. Hosting is a joint venture that involves my husband, the children, and I. I am a teacher or pre school children. I am of Caribbean decent, while my husband is from Senegal in Africa. Language is definitely his gift, speaking french, spanish and several African languages quite fluently. My family and I love to travel. Our most recent travel landed us in my husband's home town in Senegal. This was my most fulfilling travel ever. We have been to France, England, Hawaii, Bahamas, Canada and we have had many other short trips in the US. We can't live without each other. We are a very tight nit family, thus, we welcome families (even families with children, regardless of age). We love to eat rice and fish and spicy foods from our culture. We love to tour the city and see on and off Broadway shows, dine at our favorite restaurants, take long walks and bike ride in the park. As host, we are very accommodating and informative for travels who want to enjoy the best of NYC. I have spent almost all of my life in the city and I love NYC; I love my neighborhood and richness of culture here.
