Same party guests enjoy a private entrance, 2 private bedrooms with fabulous views of the lake and a private bath. Comfy shared living space is yours alone most of the time! Come enjoy our convenient location near shopping, restaurants & bus lines!
You will be greeted with a peek-a-boo view of the lake. The dog next door may say hello but he will not bark long and is fully contained in his own fenced yard.
Up to five same party adults will love staying in our custom built, fully trimmed and finished lakeside home. Your private queen size bedroom has access to a private bath and shared family living space, which has a very comfortable sectional for sleeping two. Another private bedroom on the same level shares the bath and has a comfortable twin size bed.
There is a big screen tv, dvd player, stereo and large drawing table making it fun for our many available jigsaw puzzles and games. We supply bedding and towels for inside use only. We do not offer a lifeguard, but if you would like to swim at your own risk on our private beach please bring your own towels. There is also a large city park that has a beach on our lake within walking distance that offers lifeguards. We also have a raised wood burning fire pit on our beach, which is nice to use in the spring, summer and fall as well, when there is not a fire ban.
We offer a small refrigerator and microwave in the space you can use for heating food. Paper plates, plastic dinnerware and napkins are also available.
One parking space is available for your use. There is a little street parking, but please do not park in front of the mailboxes.
Our neighbors are quiet, but as we live near the city center we do hear some muffled traffic and airplane noise. Our location is half a mile from transit and freeway access, 10 miles from Tacoma and 20 miles from Seattle. SeaTac Airport is 10-15 minutes away (without traffic.) We are happy to discuss pickup and/or drop off if it works into our schedule and will accept gas money.
We live close to Federal Way city center which has a shopping mall and excellent restaurants including Red Robin, Black Angus, Applebees, Red Lobster, McGrath's Fish House, The Ram, Panera Bread, Chipotle, Dennys, and many other cuisines. Costco is 2 miles away. Seasonally we have a Farmer's Market.
We love living here and believe you will enjoy visiting our home and family, too! Sharing our lakeside living space with our fun, considerate teenagers and their friends (if they are around) just may be the best part of your trip!
Guests have access to a private entrance they can use to come and go as they please. We provide a key and small flashlight for use while here. In poor weather you are welcome to use the front door to avoid wet or icy conditions.
There is one parking space available for guests in our driveway. Please back into the space in front of the front door.
Interaction with Guests
Our family is friendly and do enjoy visiting with guests when we cross paths. We have some guests who have enjoyed spending time with us and others who we have only seen at the beginning and at the end of their stay. Either way is fine with us. Just let us know what you like the best!
Our neighborhood is lovely, safe and fairly quiet. Our northern neighbor and friend's dog sometimes likes to bark at passing boaters, but she quiets him down nicely. She keeps her yard playful and is outdoors often so there is quiet chatter and sometimes nice music floating in the air.
We rarely see or hear our southern neighbors, but we do call them friends as well. Their homes and yards are very nice and well manicured.
It is hard to tell we are so close to the bus line, regional transit and city center. One half mile away is what we like to call the $2 Movie Theater. 3-D movies cost more than that but on Tuesdays all movies are discounted. Marlene's is there, too, and is a nice place to find healthy choices for groceries and a deli, although the prices are higher than at traditional grocery stores which are all close by as well. Wal-Mart is close and Super Wal-Mart is two miles away.
Public transit is very convenient from our home. Our street is on a bus line and the regional center is one half mile away. Please talk with us if you need a ride to the transit center or the main highway where you can catch the Rapid Transit up to the airport for access to the Light Rail which can take you into Seattle if you wish.
Other Things to Note
We do have pets in our home, 1 dog and 2 cats. We keep a gate at the top of the stairs but you know how cats can get over fences? They easily jump this one, too, and do spend time in the space available. The puppy is happy on the main floor where the coffee pot is.
There is a small refrigerator and a microwave for your use during your stay. Paper plates, plastic dinnerware and napkins are provided, as well. Please ask if the supply needs to be replenished.
There is no smoking inside or outside our home.
During fair weather months you have a private entrance to your space and we loan you a key and a small flashlight to use during your stay. Please keep doors closed so our cats do not go outside.
During icy weather you will have a special code to a key box so that you can use the main floor entrance.
We enjoy visiting with our guests but when our paths do not cross we appreciate your texts when you arrive and leave our home.
In the morning we offer a cup of coffee, tea or water using our filtered water and Keurig machine. We also offer a vitamin drink.
If we are not home when you check out, please leave the key on the round table at the bottom of the stairs in the shared living space or in the key box and roll the numbers and lock the door handle lock.
Very nice people, we felt perfectly welcome. The neighborhood was quiet and scenic. The parking was a bit of a problem, as we had two cars; it would have been fine with just one. I also thought that the room with the single bed could have used a reading light, but I just moved one in from the other room. So, we were pleased and we would consider AirbnB again. Thank you.
We are so glad you chose to stay with us Ham! I love your idea about the reading light and will probably leave the one you moved in there. We understand the parking does not fit multiple cars as well as we would like and thank you for using the free park and ride at the transit center not far from our home while you stayed here. It would be fun to hear how your grandson did at his swim meet!
So peaceful. We had a great time. The lake is beautiful. All the rooms look out over it.
The bed is very comfortable. It was very easy to make ourselves at home. You have a separate entrance with a key so you don't feel like you are intruding or anything.
There's a nice fireplace that keep it warm and cozy. It's so close to everything but you don't feel like your in town. Thanks for opening your home to us. It was wonderful.
We had a great time with Laurie and Jim. You are truly great hosts. Warm and friendly. The rooms are spacious and have a nice view on the lake. Easy to get to Seatac and Seattle.
I had a great stay with Jim and Laurie.
Their home was exactly as described. The space was clean, bright, well kept, and my favorite part - had a spectacular view of their lake.
Jim and Laurie were kind and respectful. They were eager to socialize and make me feel welcome while also respecting my privacy and need for quiet down time.
Jim and Laurie are great people with a respectful family and comfortable lodging.
I was pleasantly surprised with the entire airbnb experience but especially with the kind family I was lucky to meet and spend time with during my 5 week stay in Washington.
I would stay here again and would recommend family and friends do the same.
Jim and Laurie made my stay in Washington a very pleasant one. The property is accurately described in the introduction and met/exceeded my expectations. Waking up each morning to the beautiful view of the lake always brought a smile to my face.
Jim and Laurie were very friendly and warm without being intrusive. They made a point to make me feel welcome and included while still respecting my privacy and space. Great people and a great family, combined with comfortable lodging and a beautiful view, made my experience significantly more pleasant than a typical stay in a hotel. I look forward to future stays and visits with Jim and Laurie.
Laurie and Jim's place was perfect for me and my sister while visiting family nearby. The guest floor was bright, clean, spacious, and very cozy. The lake views were amazing as well. Coming from NYC, it was a nice change to have such a quiet, calm place to stay at. Laurie was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to stay here again next time I am in Federal Way.
Our family had a great time at Laurie and Jim's home. New to AirBNB, we greatly appreciated easy to follow lodging info and responsive communication. Laurie and Jim were very welcoming and accommodating--and it was exactly what our family needed. Needless to say, the locale is every bit as stunning as the photos reveal and we'd certainly consider returning to this beautiful place, thank you.
I am a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, friend and entrepreneur. My husband Jim and I own steel fabrication and marketing companies. We love to travel but also love being home. I like to use social media to connect with people from around the world. In short, I love getting to know people!
I used to volunteer for Smart Love where I spoke to junior and senior high students about their goals and dreams and how to reach them. I belong to a woman's book club where we typically read historical fiction or other great literature. I want to leave a legacy for my children, grandchildren and society with some great ideas I have!
Five things I can't live without are:
1. My smart phone. Without it I wouldn't be able to listen to YouVersion at night when I fall asleep.
2. My leggings. I wear them 9-10 months each year to keep warm, even when others are not cold!
3. My Family. I have the best family in the world and feel so blessed to have them all in my life!
4. Popcorn always with butter and salt. Sometimes I add xyletol and other times I put pepper on it. Yum!
5. God. Most of all I cannot live without God in my life. I know some people disagree there is a God, but they have not had the life experiences I have been blessed with to get to know Him personally.
My life motto is "I would rather live as if God were real and die to find out He isn't than to live as if God weren't real and die to find He is."
