Within 10 minutes walk are 2 championship golf courses, and The Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary.
You can stroll to the beach in a minute. There are also a range of restaurants and bars in walking distance. Moon light cinema under the stars is just a few minutes walk away.
The main street is a couple of minutes drive away, or alternatively, take a twenty minute stroll to town via the beautiful four mile beach.
Port Douglas offers something for everyone. The balmy tropical climate year around keeps visitors coming back again and again. The distinctive laid back atmosphere, the breathtaking beauty of the scenery, morning strolls along palm-fringed Four Mile Beach, world championship golf courses, the marina, five star restaurants, local artist's galleries, boutique designer stores finished off with relaxing moments in the sidewalk cafes. Port Douglas is a wonderful, relaxed and safe family holiday.
The Farmer's Market every Sunday is a wonderful mix of arts, crafts and local produce. There are amazing experiences diving spectacular Great Barrier Reef that can not be missed. Try a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of Mossman Gorge, or Spring Creek to revitalise the soul. Go sailing, spend a day lazing on the many (most empty) beaches. Laze the day away on nearby Low Isles. Hike scenic trails to Cape Tribulation where tropical rainforest and coral reef meet. The area is unique, a rainforest that has been in existence for more than 120 million years and contains some plant and animal species not seen anywhere else in the world. Take a cruise up river and come face to face with large crocodiles and pythons in their natural habitat from the comfort and safety of a cruise boat... Or just spend quiet days lazing about in the Port Douglas Artist's Beach House.

The Artist Beach House was the perfect place to stay with my family in Port Douglas! We thoroughly enjoyed the house. Tina has done a wonderful job of decorating, we loved spending time reading or lazing around. Lots of space for 3 couples and a toddler. My nephew had lots of books and toys to play with which really kept him entertained. Thanks Tina! We all had enough space with plenty of room which was great when spending a week away. We enjoyed hanging out by the pool, great pool to swim in which was important when not really swimming at the beach during summer. The main street is about a half an hour walk down the beach, there is a path which leads you on to the 4 mile beach. We cooked most nights as the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and has a great atmosphere from the balcony. Tina's communication was fantastic, so easy to chat to and if would go out of her way to help. Would love to stay again soon! Fantastic!!
Brilliant house, great spot, couldn't have enjoyed our stay more.
The perfect house for 2 x families to enjoy time together.
We spent 7-nights with my family (6 adults, 2 children) and had a fantastic time. The house is wonderful, and the interiors are fantastic. There are plenty of lounges, alcoves and spots for everyone to have space, as well as time together. Although it's a drive to the town, it's walking distance to the beach, and nearby resorts. We recommend a drink or meal at QT.
The downstairs floor couldn't get wet, which required effort with small children swimming 2-3 times a day. Not an ideal floor for a beach-house. All that said, we loved it and we'd definitely visit again.
fantastic house - a wonderful place to spend time and Tina was great - highly recommended!
I cannot recommend The Artist Beach House enough!! With 6 adults in our group, finding a property to satisfy everyone's needs was difficult but this place was perfect and we all fell in love with it. It is a gorgeous property, very spacious and really well equipped. The beach was a very short stroll away and the pool was great -we were spoilt for choice!
Prior to our arrival Tina was very helpful in providing extensive information regarding the property and Port Douglas and Kerry was also a great point of contact during our stay.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay in your very beautiful and inspirational home - our holiday would not have been the same had we stayed elsewhere!
I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait for another opportunity to visit!
The “Artist’s Beach House” is absolutely the best place to stay for your Port Douglas Holiday. The house is located in the rainforest, just a 5 minute walk from the four mile beach. The Port Douglas town is about a 30-40 minute walk down Four Mile Beach. The house is located across the road from the Rendevous hotel (5 minute walk), which has a convenient shuttle service and for tours that only pick up from hotels. Kerry was wonderful and greeted us upon arrival. She gave us a brief tour of the beautiful house. The two living rooms are especially nice for big groups. Each floor is spacious with new wooden flooring and modern appliances. The house is both luxurious and “homey”. Tina and Matt are wonderful designers. I would definitely encourage you to spend some time walking around the house and looking at all the different art on the walls. The way Tina arranges the color scheme in the house is spectacular. She has an amazing attention to detail. Every painting and picture on the wall seems carefully placed to match various color themes and furniture around the house. There are several “easter eggs” in the art around the house that we didn’t even notice until the end of our stay which I thought was really cool. (hint: look closely at the Tiki statues!) Each bedroom is unique. The downstairs bedroom near the pool was my favorite. It has an outdoor bed just in front of the room for post-beach naps, a hammock and outdoor shower. The entire house almost feels outside with all of the windows, sliding doors and sunlight. There are high speed ceiling fans all over the house which do a great job of keeping out bugs and the house cool. The kitchen balcony is the ideal place for drinks and dinner. You have a view of the pool, backyard and rainforest that surrounds the property. Each room seems to flow seamlessly into the next. The house truly looks better than the pictures.
One night we went for a midnight swim at Four Mile Beach (careful depending on season), it has amazing star watching and the water was BIOLUMINESCENT! My hands and feet were glowing in the water, and whenever you splashed the water blue sparks would shoot out everywhere. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I think this is a rather rare occurrence in Port Douglas but definitely worth looking for!
Some tips: You may want to bring an eye mask and earplugs if you are a late sleeper. I was woken up each morning by sunlight and exotic birds (in a good way!). Also, check for enough toilet paper when you arrive, we ran out the last night we were there. There are no paper towels provided so don’t forget those.
I highly recommend the Artist’s Beach House for your holiday!
The house has been beautiful renovated by Tina and Matt with every detail covered. We found the location perfect being on a quiet street and only a moonwalk away from 4mile beach. I can't recommend this place high enough, we will definitely be back.
