Port Douglas offers something for everyone. The balmy tropical climate year around keeps visitors coming back again and again. The distinctive laid back atmosphere, the breathtaking beauty of the scenery, morning strolls along palm-fringed Four Mile Beach, world championship golf courses, the marina, five star restaurants, local artist's galleries, boutique designer stores finished off with relaxing moments in the sidewalk cafes. Port Douglas is a wonderful, relaxed and safe family holiday.
The Farmer's Market every Sunday is a wonderful mix of arts, crafts and local produce. There are amazing experiences diving spectacular Great Barrier Reef that can not be missed. Try a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of Mossman Gorge, or Spring Creek to revitalise the soul. Go sailing, spend a day lazing on the many (most empty) beaches. Laze the day away on nearby Low Isles. Hike scenic trails to Cape Tribulation where tropical rainforest and coral reef meet. The area is unique, a rainforest that has been in existence for more than 120 million years and contains some plant and animal species not seen anywhere else in the world. Take a cruise up river and come face to face with large crocodiles and pythons in their natural habitat from the comfort and safety of a cruise boat... Or just spend quiet days lazing about in the Port Douglas Artist's Beach House.

We had the most amazing time in Port Douglas, thanks largely to Tina's beautiful beach house. Our kids loved the pool area, my wife loved the art and I loved all the mod cons! The location was ideal, just 3 minutes walk from the four mile beach (which we recommend for a morning jog/stroll). Tina's communication prior to and during our stay was really helpful and were inspired as fellow Air B&B hosts ourselves by the professional operation she runs and the array of helpful information left out for us to ensure we had the perfect stay which we did. We are already talking about returning for a stay again at some point and can;t thank Tina enough for her contribution in making our time in Port Douglas just perfect....our only regret.....should have stayed for two weeks!!
We spent almost three weeks at the Artists Beach House and loved it all. The home is so relaxing and easygoing it is hard to worry about anything. Tina has done an amazing job making the place incredibly inviting and has thought of nearly everything a traveler needs. We stayed here during a year long trip around the world and, this was one of our favorite stops.
There are a couple of downsides to the house and the area a renter should know about:
1. The kitchen supplies need a little refreshing. There was not a measuring cup, measuring spoons and some of the cookware needs to be updated.
2. The WiFi is pretty slow and unreliable. Most people won't care because they are on holiday, but we rely on it for work while we travel and so it was a bit of a pain.
And just some things you should know about the property / area.
1. This was not a negative for us, but the house is meant to be left very much open with the ocean air breezing through. We loved it, but for someone wanting a well sealed air conditioned house, this is probably not the one. There is A/C, and it works, but it hurts the charm of the house.
2. The beach is beautiful, but don't plan on getting in the water for 7 months out of the year because of jellyfish (marine stingers). There is a SMALL netted area about 30 mins up the beach, but it is a shame not to be able to get in.
3. Because the house is meant to be left open there are bugs to deal with. We had NO major issues and never even put on bug spray, but there are some critters around including some geckos that live in the house. We absolutely loved our gecko friends and enjoyed watching them work, but if you are not into it you should not stay here.
Once again, we absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone as long as you are ok with the caveats above.
The Artist Beach House was the perfect place to stay with my family in Port Douglas! We thoroughly enjoyed the house. Tina has done a wonderful job of decorating, we loved spending time reading or lazing around. Lots of space for 3 couples and a toddler. My nephew had lots of books and toys to play with which really kept him entertained. Thanks Tina! We all had enough space with plenty of room which was great when spending a week away. We enjoyed hanging out by the pool, great pool to swim in which was important when not really swimming at the beach during summer. The main street is about a half an hour walk down the beach, there is a path which leads you on to the 4 mile beach. We cooked most nights as the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and has a great atmosphere from the balcony. Tina's communication was fantastic, so easy to chat to and if would go out of her way to help. Would love to stay again soon! Fantastic!!
Brilliant house, great spot, couldn't have enjoyed our stay more.
The perfect house for 2 x families to enjoy time together.
We spent 7-nights with my family (6 adults, 2 children) and had a fantastic time. The house is wonderful, and the interiors are fantastic. There are plenty of lounges, alcoves and spots for everyone to have space, as well as time together. Although it's a drive to the town, it's walking distance to the beach, and nearby resorts. We recommend a drink or meal at QT.
The downstairs floor couldn't get wet, which required effort with small children swimming 2-3 times a day. Not an ideal floor for a beach-house. All that said, we loved it and we'd definitely visit again.
fantastic house - a wonderful place to spend time and Tina was great - highly recommended!
I cannot recommend The Artist Beach House enough!! With 6 adults in our group, finding a property to satisfy everyone's needs was difficult but this place was perfect and we all fell in love with it. It is a gorgeous property, very spacious and really well equipped. The beach was a very short stroll away and the pool was great -we were spoilt for choice!
Prior to our arrival Tina was very helpful in providing extensive information regarding the property and Port Douglas and Kerry was also a great point of contact during our stay.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay in your very beautiful and inspirational home - our holiday would not have been the same had we stayed elsewhere!
I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait for another opportunity to visit!
