Cheery, cozy room and bathroom in a one-story condo in the Lakes of Tempe. Beautiful, lush, safe neighborhood near great restaurants, bookstore, shopping and private clubhouse.

The Space

This is a creative, cozy, quiet room in my condo in Central/South Tempe. You'll have your own private room and bathroom- both are colorful, peaceful, full of plants. The room has french doors onto an enclosed patio and is a dedicated guest room. The whole unit is single story and if you're driving, you'll get your own assigned parking space.

I have a very sweet black lab who'll want to be your best friend. You're welcome to use the kitchen, fridge, wi-fi, Blu-ray player, Netflix streaming & community clubhouse. The clubhouse has a lap pool, spa, sauna, game room, and small gym. The community is lush with tall, old trees and man-made lakes and a lovely stream- great for walking/running.

You are within walking distance of delicious restaurants/bars, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Target, Changing Hands (an awesome independent bookstore), local coffee shops and more.

About 5 miles south of ASU and Mill Ave and very close to the US-60 and 101 freeways. There are several bus stops less than 1/2 mile away with routes that can take you all over the valley and connect easily to our light rail system as well. I'm about 15 minutes from Sky Harbor Airport and downtown Phoenix.

Guest Access

Feel free to use the kitchen, fridge, washer/dryer, your private room and bathroom (bathroom is across the hall from your room), couch and TV with netflix streaming, and wi-fi. I can also get you a guest pass to my community's clubhouse which as a lap pool, sauna, jacuzzi, game room and gym.

Interaction with Guests

I will be home during your stay, except for when I'm working or out of the house.

The Neighborhood

The Lakes of Tempe is a beautiful neighborhood with man made lakes, lush mature trees and greenery, and is very safe- everyone waves at each other and I know most of my neighbors. We have a private clubhouse, which you're welcome to use, with an outdoor lap pool overlooking the lake, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, game room, tennis courts, sand volleyball, and more. I love that all of the major intersections nearest me have great shopping, including my favorite independent bookstore, Changing Hands, and some great restaurants.

Getting around

In Phoenix we have a bus system, and I have several stops between 1/4 to 1/2 mile away. It's very convenient to go from my house to ASU via bus, and that route also connects to our light rail system which runs through downtown Phoenix, to and from the airport, and around the valley. I do have an assigned parking spot you can use if you're driving and it's very near my door.

Other Things to Note

As of Feb. 2014 I now have a real queen-sized mattress in the guest room, as opposed to the air mattress I had before.

  • Erin & Travis were great hosts and the condo was super comfortable. I was doing a course at the Stretch to Win Institute at Z Health. Erin loaned me her bike which was an easy 4 mile cycle along the canals and definitely a great place to stay if you are doing a course there. The pool and gym facilities are a real bonus to staying here and the neighbourhood has everything you could need. Maggie is the cutest dog and totally devoted to Erin. I would definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to come back to Tempe. Thank you.

  • Erin is a perfect host. The room is big, quiet and very comfortable. The house is big, clean, near a gym - pool and sauna (all for free). The neighborhood is wonderful, with a lake, lots of green, restaurants, groceries, Starbucks and so on...The house is a ten minutes from downtown Tempe (bars, pubs...), and near ASU too. So I suggest to everyone to spend time in Erin's house and in Tempe.

  • Erin's room is great. The location is very good with many options around to eat and drink . The bed was comfy and you have your own bathroom .

Erin was very friendly and helpful with info. There is wifi and a beautiful pool and hot tub that I was able to use on a guest pass from Erin. It is a nice safe neighborhood and it was enjoyable to walk around the lakes close by.

It is easy to drive around the area with freeways (60, 10 and 101) all close. This would be a good spot to stay if you are checking out the University or visiting someone there. The airport is fairly close which was also a bonus.

Maggie, Erin's dog, is well behaved and fun to be around.

Erin's place is good for a single person or a couple. I would stay again for sure.

  • My stay at Erin's COZY ROOM was absolutely perfect! After a 5 day convention in downtown Phoenix, I really enjoyed staying in Erin's lovely condo. Room was just as described - perfectly clean and comfortable! Slept like a baby! More than anything I appreciated Erin and Travis's hospitality and kindness - the nicest people you ever want to meet! Travis saved the day by helping me out securing a rental car and giving me a ride to the car rental place, which was going above and beyond! I had hoped to get some down-time in, taking in the sun - being from NY and only half way the worst winter ever! - I ended up doing too much site seeing so I did not get to enjoy the club house, park and pool but I did drive around and it looked like a great place to chill. You do want to have a car to get around - thus said - it's a great location - super convenient to get to the airport - just 15 minutes!!! I highly recommend Erin's Cozy Room - and getting to meet Erin et al!

  • Great place near the university and the Desert Botanical Garden. Erin was a gracious and friendly host, we recommend her place very highly. We also enjoyed soaking in the jacuzzi at the clubhouse!

  • This is a single bedroom in a condo with two very nice people who were super accommodating. The condo is modern, immaculate, pleasant, and the location is convenient to Tempe.

  • We really enjoyed our one week stay in Erin's delightful condo and would highly recommend it to others. This was part of a four week escape from Wisconsin winter and we weren't disappointed. The room had a comfortable new queen size mattress and adequate closet space. We used the bedroom patio doors to access the small walled-in patio a few times. There is another small patio off the dining area with a handy clothesline for wet suits and a couple of chairs. The private bathroom across the hall from the bedroom was pleasant with a shower over the tub with good water pressure. The large flat screen TV in the living room was nice for watching Netflix and the WI FI worked well. Erin reserved a kitchen cabinet for guest use and there was also space in the refrigerator. There's no microwave, but we didn't miss it as we just used the kitchen to make tea, cereal and sandwiches. We also used the washer and dryer in the condo for a load of laundry. The Lakes community center is only a couple of blocks away and Erin walked there with us the first day to get us guest passes for the week. We spent lots of time there playing tennis and pickleball, and using the huge heated pool and hot tub. We never had trouble getting a court during the day. There is also a gym, ping pong table and pool table, but we didn't make use of them, since the weather was perfect for outdoor activities. We had sandwiches and beers at Pier 54, a bar on the lake a couple of nights, and ate on the more upscale patio at the Watershed next door one night. Both were very good and just a few blocks from the condo. Erin also recommended a good Thai restaurant (Yupha's), a good middle eastern restaurant (Sahara's), and Wildflower for breakfast and sandwiches. We enjoyed them all. Erin and her boyfriend, Travis, who was a frequent visitor, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. When the string on one of our tennis racquets broke, Travis lent us his. He also provided good suggestions for biking along the canals and the greenbelt, which we enjoyed. He made a delicious homemade chai one night and shared a sample. Erin offered to share dinner with us one night, which we appreciated, but we had other plans. Maggie, Erin's dog, was friendly and calm. She spent most of her time curled up in a chair waiting for Erin to return. In short, Erin and Travis make a great couple and we enjoyed getting to know them.

  • My stay at Cozy Room was all I hoped it would be. Erin provided a serene and comfortable room with its own bathroom. Reading in bed by the light of the goose lamp was restful. Having the use of the kitchen & fridge helped reduce my dining expenses. The location was perfect. And Maggie was the best dog ever! I'll be back!

  • I had a magical & serendipitous time with Erin! She is a lovely person. I found a book by one of my friends, Goddess Leonie, ON HER BOOKSHELF! And other books I loved!!! Then, in the craziest chain of events, we found out I was meeting HER BEST FRIEND'S MOM for an Intuitive Session the next day. Out of millions of people in the area, we knew the same 2 people. Wildest Thing Ever!!!!! So Erin, in a nutshell, IS MAGIC!

I was a little concerned when I saw that her bed was an adjustable air mattress, but soon realized how comfortable it was for me! I like a firm bed and it worked really well. (I would not recommend this bed, however, for a heavy person.)

The room is beautiful. Erin has worked on decorating her spaces and has beautiful branches on the ceiling. It felt VERY PEACEFUL and had a private bath and bedroom with patio access, so you can open the door for fresh air. Erin was very flexible.
Cleanness: If you're a dog person, you will LOVE Erin's B&B. If you're a super picky neat freak, I don't think any house with a dog would be advised. I have found that dog people are a little more relaxed, and that is how I am, too, so it was perfect for me. Her dog is even cuter and sweeter than she mentions, and is well behaved..never jumped on me once, which is a really big deal.

BONUS: Erin will take you to use her AMAZING & GORGEOUS lap pool/fitness room and hot tub with sauna, if you are good. ;) It's outdoors, and has a STUNNING VIEW OF THE LAKE & SUNSET. I highly advise! BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL & SHOWER SUPPLIES. Walking distance.

BONUS: LOCATION. It was right off the highway - 60? I think. Anyway, it was short drive (20 min?) to the Tempe party/bars/clubs/restaurants area on Mill Avenue near the college and beautiful Scottsdale art galleries, literally up the street. It was about a 25 min drive there from Erin's house. There are plenty of bars in the Tempe college area, and I particularly recommend The HANDLEBAR. Most of the bars stay open till 2, so I was not bored. The music they were playing on their sound system made it hard for me to leave, and I'm picky. It was awesome.
